Rumor has it that all of the new models will have that notch.

https://www.macworld.com/article/3282304/apple-phone/apple-lcd-2018-iphone.html

In fact, Android phones are now using the notch as well. I don't think it's going anywhere.

http://www.businessinsider.com/android-phones-apple-iphone-x-notch-2018-5

Unless Apple finds a magical way to hide the front camera and sensors under the screen with an undisclosed technology no one has heard about...you can bet the notch will stay in this year models and most probably next year too.
It's a non issue imho and Apple will never get rid of the camera and sensors...too many (useful) things rely on them...from FaceID to video calls etc etc...

Your biggest issue (only?) coming from a plus is the form factor imho and maybe some old games you can't live without.

Let us know when you check the models!!!

Checked them out and ended up with an X! Still getting set up through my iCloud backup but really like it so far. I'll post more of my impressions once I have some games on it.

Cool, enjoy your new device!!!
Pretty sure you will love it!!!

Which games are you buying to celebrate?
I think I got The Witness and Inside when I got my X, and had a blast!!!

EDIT: be sure to check some HDR videos on it!!! From YouTube or Netflix (Altered Carbon looks amazing).
Also prefer a dark/black background, saves a ton of battery (which is great anyway).

What are two months anyway compared to having to look this for years. Two months go by flying i tell you

For what it's worth, I'm still on an iPhone 7 but I got my girlfriend an iPhone X for Christmas. Even just casually looking at her screen and using her phone very occasionally, I got used to the notch after a couple of days and stopped "noticing" it within a month.

Wasn't there some game recently that only supported iPhone 8 and up?

I am so bummed that my iPad Pro does not reall seem appropriate for gaming. Games often have massive slowdowns, it's super annoying. I guess it struggles with the higher resolution compared to phone versions of games.. because my 5S runs the same games fine.

Finally got a test flight invite to try out Sky from thatgamecompany. That sure is a pretty looking thing. Not sure what to make of the controls yet but this seems like a solid spiritual successor to Journey.

Still enjoying my iPhone X. A little disappointed that some games that are fairly recent like Arkanoid vs Space Invaders haven't gotten an update to support X. And surprised by some that are much older that have been updated like Hero Emblems.

With all that said, the games that have been updated or were released with X support look and play incredibly. Games like Oddmar, Mushroom 11 and Asphalt 8 are incredible on it.

And I don't necessarily like the bars on those that aren't, but don't mind it that much. I'm happy with the trade offs for the others and even the extra screen space when browsing the Internet.

I will be happy when iOS 12 comes out to allow the same flick to close funcitionality. Closing apps is a bit clunky the way it is.

But I'm loving it overall!

Smash Up is on sale for $2, I've never played the physical game. I know the app got hit hard in reviews for technical issues, how is it now?

Fighting Fantasy Legends is also $2. Is that a sale price or normal?

That's odd. Thought Fighting Fantasy Legends was free since it's a shell for all the game books, although I know one is included.

NWN:EE seems to be coming to tablets (so I assume iPad down the line).

Not a huge surprise as all the IE games have been ported, although they do mention adding mods (it would need at least the official modules such as Infinite Dungeon).

PC management sim Tropico headed to iPad later this year:

Oh wow, those are some nice additions.

Hi guys, can you help me remember a game?

It's a paid Android game, unsure if it has an iOS version or not. It has this pastel color palette, with pink as its main color. I'm pretty sure you're playing a young girl and the description said it's about first love. The title is the protagonists' name, IIRC. It randomly appeared at my play store storefront a few weeks ago and I forgot wishlisting it, and now I can't find it anymore :( anyone know what is it?

Has anyone played Baldur's Gate on a Note 8? Wondering if it'd actually be playable or if the screen is still too small.

Taking a chance and downloading the iOS 12 beta. One of the things I want is the change they are doing for closing apps on iPhone X. I really don't like the way it works now (really the only think I don't like).

Edit: downloaded it and wow, the iPhone X was fast before but it's really, really fast now. They weren't kidding about the performance boost with iOS 12.

I started up Planescape Torment on my iPad Mini a few weeks ago and I even found that screen size too small.

You can zoom in to see better, but it didn't seem like it would be an enjoyable experience to actually play it like that. The stylus in the Note 8 might make it play better, but even with that I don't think I'd enjoy it on a screen size that small.

Golf Club Wasteland is excellent, provided you don't mind the fictional but not so subtle anti-Trump commentary. Nice apocalyptic artwork and challenging Stickman Golf style gameplay. But the talk show and, especially, the music give the game an atmosphere that sets it apart.

I know it's an old one but I just fully completed Goblin Sword main campaign (still to do the two extra dungeons).
Took me around 12 hours and it was GLORIOUS.
Really well done, some secrets were super tricky and the bonus dungeons seem even trickier.
Liked everything about the game, great char progression and tons of weapons/Armour/medallions that open up new parts of the game.

Plays like a charm on iPhone X (fully supported).
I'm probably the only one that had yet to play it but if you missed it and like these games I highly recommend it.

Any idea how you can upgrade Heroki to the new version ? The app description is rather vague at first glance.

Either you buy the new one that contains the latest patch and will be updated for the forseeable future or you get the older version (published by SEGA) under your app history purchase in the App Store. This version also contains the latest patch but won't be getting any further update.

It's this way because the devs couldn't keep the other version without erasing iCloud saves.

Did I mention how cool the Measure app is on iOS 12 with an iPhone X? Know they demoed it at their presser but pretty cool to see how accurate and useful it is in real life.

Any great city building or management sim games that came out recently? Been in the mood for one. I played a little bit of Polytopia but I don't really feel satisfied by my accomplishments of building when all is said and done.

Project Highrise was great and Pocket City should be quite good when it comes at the end of July. We've also got Tropico 3 to look forward too.

1849 is a bit dated now but still one of the best (albeit limited) premium city builder on iOS (with Sim City 2000 but that's no longer playable).

I'd appreciate some recommendations for games that can be played for short periods of time without having to pay too much attention (e.g. while watching TV). I'm into games with extensive upgrade mechanics, so I think I'm looking for something similar to Soda Dungeon, Game Dev Story, or You Must Build a Boat.

I just got a new iPad for my birthday, so I'm looking for some more recent, decent-budget paid Japanese games, but not from the larger publishers. Something like Ghost Trick-level, but not from Capcom. Strong narrative would be ideal.

Also, any recent big VN releases? I'm so bummed Banshee's Last Cry isn't iOS11 compatible.
