Game is suffering from severe audio issues. Audio keeps cutting off, characters speaking over each other, audio being desync. Its gotten to the point where entire cutscenes are voiceless and i have to rewatch them on youtube, just to understand wth happened. Did this happen to anyone else? It's a shame because i'm really enjoying it so far, but might have to drop it because of this.

What's your setup? I have not heard of any audio issues like this before.

Do you have surround sound/ sound bar? May be an issue with other hardware, if not try above.

As others have said I've personally never heard of it. Yes I've played and finished it.

Delete it, reinstall, download your save from the cloud. Start this again

Playing from disc shouldn't be the cause. The game installs everything onto the HDD anyway. He might need to reinstall or it might be a hardware issue with console/receiver/headphones etc.

Never had an issue like this playing through the game. I'd do as others have recommended and install the game again and go from there.

Played it yesterday. No problems at all. Watched my friend play it yesterday (on his setup) and it ran just as it should. Hmm, maybe reinstall it?

Nearly reaching the end of all post game content and haven't had any issues like this at all.

It's that one where Kratos and Atreus are in an elevator and Atreus is annoyed about something and keeps asking questions in between moments of silence and I was like "oh crap sound went bad, I can't hear Kratos replies!" and then Atreus goes "Are you even listening to me?" and that really cracked me up.

Only God of War, or other games too?

That's annoying. Are you playing from disc?

Yeah im playing from disc. Ive tried reinstalling it to no avail. It was fine the first few hours but then the issue started non stop. None of my other games are suffering from this either, and im using the same setup i've always had. I don't think it's a problem with my setup either since it affects subtitles as well. If the audio cuts out then so do my subs.

Maybe a faulty disc? PS4 streams in lots of data as you are playing, so perhaps there is a disc issue

It's either a problem with your PS4 or with the game itself.
Try reinstalling it. Maybe just maybe it's an error in the disc?
If it's a digital download, just uninstall and download again.
There is def something weird going on with the PS4.

Edit:
If it's a disc, can you return it or exchange it for another one? Probably the disc itself is the problem.
Tell them they gave you a faulty disc and would like to get a replacement.

Yea, try reinstalling and see if that helps.

Either it's a faulty disc or PS4. Most likely a disc.

Definitely not a problem with the game since no one else has this problem

I don't get it. When issues like this appear, you know it is not normal right? Could you really not figure out to do some basic computer actions like reinstalling?

Played all the way through the story, and also got the platinum too.....not one audio issue. Definitely try what others suggested here, that's definitely not normal. In fact, your post is the first ive heard from anyone since the game's release that they are having audio issues.

Both Xbox and PS need a way to verify the game files. Being forced to reinstall/download a huge game is really stupid. Even Nintendo has this option! And they dont have 100 GB games.

I had some minor audio issues with the game, it would tend to skip occassonially but no desync
I suspect it was the PS4 (but everything was up to date) and not encountered it with other games before

PS4 streams none of the data. Every single PS4 game is installed in it's enterity to the HDD, since the PS4 was released.

As others said, uninstall, rebuild data base, check your setup.

It's not normal.

I had a similar issue where the game would stutter and audio would desync during cutscenes, but it only happened when I was downloading something in the background.

What TV do you have? Do you have a Game Performance mode on your TV?

I would contact Sony and TV manufacturer. Sounds like an odd case of HW clashing somehow.

My bedroom TV will sometimes get a handshake issue with my PS4 and video goes in and out. A quick cycle through inputs fixes this. Have you tried that?

If you would scroll down a bit you would see that i've already tried reinstalling it. Also issues like this aren't uncommon among games. If you don't want to help me, don't bother posting and being a fucking dick.

incorrect. It streams from disc and data is cached to the "install" as it is used, or when it is not pulling data from the disc.

Mark Cerny said:
So, what we do as the game accesses the Blu-ray disc, is we take any data that was accessed and we put it on the hard drive. And if then if there is idle time, we go ahead and copy the remaining data to the hard drive. And what that means is after an hour or two, the game is on the hard drive, and you have access, you have dramatically quicker loading... And you have the ability to do some truly high-speed streaming

Contrary to popular belief, the PS4 does not fly in the face of physical hardware limitations of blue ray discs and HDDs and install an entire 50GB game in 2 seconds.

Some games do require preinstall prior to you letting you start the game, but otherwise the data comes through ad hoc.

I did post in the OT and got no responses. Also this forum has a rule about not thread whining. If mods don't think this is a good thread they'll lock it. Otherwise it's very easy for you to not post in this thread if you don't care about it...

Are you running the latest official firmware?
If so, then the PS4 is broken.

1)Backup your saves to USB as soon as you can.
2)Restore the system and install only the game with all updates.
3)Reload your save file and see if the issue persists

Also try checking the HDMI cable again. That could def be a cause. Maybe even try replacing that.
