The weird thing about the way doubles seems to work with a restriction to your friends list is super weird when you consider it does mean the game itself can still handle 4 separate switches connecting in one lobby fine. Opening that up to go against randoms would clearly be possible...

Sure hope this has more added to it beyond characters in the coming months.

Best place to to get our voices heard that we want doubles against strangers online? My brother and I want to take the world on together.

Yeah - it seems like more of a feature they didn't get round to implementing rather than something they would technically struggle with.

So far it seems like the game has lots of potential and the gameplay is fun but there's no much content either online or SP, so I think $60 is too much for me.

How are you feeling about this?

I find that I tap X several times out of habit to 'confirm' shots, and when I'm trying to perform certain special moves (drop/lob) with X I accidentally trigger the shortcut for the trick shot.

I'm a fidgety presser so that'll be a fun obstacle to overcome!

I'm getting it because my kids were excited about it but after reading reviews it seems Nintendo did their typical bare minimum to get it out the gate b.s.

Anyone who has tried it local multi is it split screen for 2 player but not for 4 players? I can't find a proper answer anywhere and that might be a deal breaker on it's own for the family.

As far as I know split screen is basicly 1 screen for each side of the court, so 4 player is split screen but not for every player but 1 screen for the 2 players on the same side of the court

Yeah, it's my main complaint with the controls and whilst I know it's my fault, I can't help but feel they could have put trickshot on its own button. It feels kinda weird to have three totally different things on one button.

Oh man, I was hoping it was like the other ones where it was full screen and you'd switch sides each set. Thanks for letting me know. I guess they have to do it that way for those aimed shots to work =/

I wonder why the Nintendo Switch phone app has nothing for the game. Why only Splatoon? Would be nice if MTA and other games had stuff similar too

Game is really fun online, gameplay is super tight. Is there a way to bring a lot of people from Era into the same lobby?

Question for those that have it:

Can you play simple mode 1v1 local on ONE screen or is that split screen as well?

I can't check at the moment, but I am pretty sure its split screen as well, simple mode is more like an option in the menues instead of a different Mode, so pretty much everything is the same with the only difference that the energy stuff is turned off.

game is a bit light on features but the tennis is rock solid, i like the additions and obviously simple mode is as good as always

hoping for arms/splatoon-type support as well going forward

Story mode is pretty fun. Not sure what the complaint was. Unless people were expecting an RPG, but we knew it wasn't? It's supposedly short but I expected a sports game to have a short single player. Everything else is solid, but I'm going to go through story mode to unlock all the courts first.

I'm enjoying it too.
I'm treating this as an online game like Arms, and the story is a lot better than the singleplayer content we got for that title.

Honestly, story mode is pretty much the mini game challenge from Mario Power Tennis for the GameCube, and that is pretty much considered one of the best ones along with the one for the GBC. Power Tennis had much better mechanics and variety, while GBC had the make your way to the top RPG story mode with just alright tennis outside of the story mode.

I hope they do DLC for this that throws in more courts. Game has a good sized roster, so rather have more courts beyond the ones you unlock over characters.

10 minutes? Worse than Ultra Smash where you can't even play with friends online?
Maybe you're being a TOUCH dramatic. ;)

That was a quick change of opinion if I ever saw one! :X

Not really, Ultra Smash let me play a normal tennis match and choose the amount of sets and games. Also, i don't play with friends online, only with randoms, and i prefer to play local multiplayer with my wife. In Ultra Smash each player can have his own screen, while in Aces we have to deal with split screens...Why can't we play in full screen?! I don't mind playing in reverse view.

I was looking forward to waggle mode, expecting it could be on the level of Sports Champions ping pong.

What went wrong?
