Next week I'm definitely grabbing Ys and Lumines. I also plan on owning the Crash Trilogy and Wolfenstein but I'm not buying 3 huge games at once anymore, so those will be down the road.

Man that Lumines OST is so good. I'm glad that all of the original songs will be in the remaster.

Somewhere.
I am so glad that I passed on Mario Tennis, and finally checked out Mario + Rabbids instead. I rarely dig so deep into strategy games nowadays, but by damn is this game a lot of fun. The movement aspect of these battles are so freaking good. Game is charming as hell too, and looks quite nice.

Finished world 1, so be looking forward to the three other worlds, and then when I am done with the main story, I will possibly look into the new Donkey Kong DLC. ^_^

I spotted Class of Heroes on the Japanese store and got really jealous. Is there any chance at all of that coming to the US? Because I'd love to actually finish that one on Switch.
Not sure who owns the NA licensing rights. It was in PSP hell forever.

I'd kinda like to see the sequels too since Acquire kept the rights everywhere

The Captain Toad demo is short but very sweet. Really nice visual style that's been carried over from the Super Mario games (Odyssey & 3D World).

Super chariots Phillips hue support is amazing, having the lights theme to the map and respond to what happens in the game makes me wish way more developers supported smart lights

Cool, this works on Switch too? I knew it worked for XBox One, I thought that was the only console that supported it right now. I know it didn't work on Wii U anyway.

Still trying to decide if I should pick up Street Fighter II (not a big fighting game person but I loved this on SNES and I like the HD graphics), or Blossom Tales while they're on sale, or just pick up the Splatoon 2 DLC. I still haven't finished the single player in Splatoon 2, so maybe it doesn't make sense. But this money's burning a hole in my pocket!

So I'm thinking of getting darkest dungeon. Should I get the ancestral edition or just the regular edition? Is it worth it?

I bought Hollow Knight & have Mario Tennis pre-loaded. I loved the Mario Tennis online tournament. The game mechanics seem to have a lot of depth to it. Almost fighting game amounts of depth so I'm really looking forward to playing it properly at the end of the week.

I've put 6 hours into Hollow Knight and it's an okay game. Soundtrack is top notch. The game is very difficult. Old school Metroid style game with very dark atmosphere and graphics.

I would suggest you go in hollow night OT and get impressions. It's tough game with no real direction for the player. I can see why some people don't enjoy it.

I like the game but even I use YouTube walkthrough to help.

Hollow Knight is fantastic, but not really something I'd recommend for short bursts, it's the kind of game you have to sink at least an hour per session, IMO. Kind of the same for Darkest Dungeon.

I had no problems doing 10-15 minute sessions of Darkest Dungeon, I'd do 3-4 battles in a dungeon then do another 3-4 the next time I play (leaving the system on sleep mode), and repeat until the dungeon is done.

Pleased to see I'm not the only one underwhelmed by Hollow Knight, at least early on. I've only played an hour and a half but it's not set my life ablaze yet. I like it well enough and am sure it'll scratch the itch but having played Aria of Sorrow recently it's not as immediately gripping as that was and I'd expected something similar .

I feel like an asshole for saying this but you should have gotten one of the Nintendo games.

Rabbids is Ubisoft and goes on sale a lot. Those Nintendo games have never been on sale before.

Nah, they would collect virtual dust until 2019. With the little free time I have, and for a variety of reasons, the only game I can actually start playing right now along with Xeno 2 is Mario + Rabbids.

My huge Steam backlog taught me something: I'm only buying games I'll start playing right now. From my experience, I'll spend less money buying Zelda full-priced in the future then going "oh my God I have to buy Zelda, Splatoon 2 and Fire Emblem today because they never go on sale".

After months of anticipation, I had to drop it 7 hours into it. The design choices are not to my liking. I, personally, would not recommend it to anyone I know but to you, I will say that spend a little more time with it after you get the wall jump and dash moves and see if that helps change your mind.

Infinite Minigolf is $6, down from $15.

Is this game any good?
I think after all the patches they got it to fairly serviceable?

I mean it is mini golf so it is only going to be as fun as you find that activity

Air Mail looks really interesting, anyone have impressions/reviews yet?

Looking at IOS reviews and it seems to be pretty solid. Just hoping that physical controls make it better and that they adjusted any modible iap elements etc.

I don't think you can even easily find this game on App store anymore.

Anyone seen word if Ys VIII has Japanese audio? I watched three YouTube reviews specifically about the Switch version. One said no, one said yes and the other didn't even mention it.

Guys, I'm in need of some western-flavored gaming. I've been on a japanese games binge since the beggining of the year, but now I think I'm about to reach saturation and I do not want that... so I need some grey colored bald-headed muscular grunt palate cleanser ASAP. I've got $50 to waste, so which games would you recommend me?

Western-developed games I own:
  • Pre-ordered Wolfie2
  • Skyrim
  • Doom
  • LA Noire (xbox 360 version, but the game did nothing for me then)

Oooh, I dunno, that's a tough choice man.

Of what I've played so far of Hollow Knight it is really fantastic.

But Darkest Dungeon is one of my favorite games of the gen and I'm close to triple-dipping to have it on Switch.

Both are high quality. Both are very succesful at what they set out to do.

Either way you can't go wrong so ultimately it comes down to the type of experience you want.

If you really love Metroidvanias and want and action platformer go with that.

If you like highly strategic turn-based combat and appreciate a game where every battle can go sideways and lead to a party wipe, go for Darkest Dungeon.

Also, if you like H.P. Lovecraft I don't think there's a better game adaptation of that universe outside maybe Bloodborne.

I'll add this, too: Darkest Dungeon might be a game better suited for lunch breaks just due to the nature of its design. Most runs take about 20-30 minutes and you have a whole little experience there, and it's easy to jump in and out of a run. Hollow Knight you might forget what you were doing last or may have trouble getting into it for such a brief period.

Neither as as hard as their reputations would have you believe, you can surmount the obstacles and learn to play the games correctly.

As a final thought, DD is on sale but Hollow Knight isn't. Since HK is already cheaper you might want to take advantage of the DD sale and pick up HK later.

You've only listed AAA games, how do you feel about indies?

Immortal Redneck is fun as hell, performance aside.

Yet another old mobile port.
Yes I'm aware, thank you. =]

I'm still very keen to hear from someone who has played it on Switch in handheld and TV modes to hear how it looks and sounds. At $7 it's pretty tempting, and I love music and rhythm games. If I do play it, I want to experience it fresh on Switch, so those are the kinds of impressions I'm interested in hearing.

I would recommend it at that price. It's okay. I think its better with a Pro Controller, you need precision with the analog sticks (well "need" is a strong word, it makes it better) and there obviously isn't much "swing" on the Joycon sticks. There;s a lot of content there. It's not a super hardcore game. $6 is a good price if you're interested. My wife and I enjoyed it for a few hours.

Also:

I'm interested in this. I'll wait for impressions!
