They fixed quite a few bugs I reported in beta 1. Mostly visual bugs, but even a third party app crash (bringing up the camera in MoviePass for ticket stub verification always crashed on b1, fixed now). Was already stable and smooth and now it's even better. Nice to see such a solid release.

Ironically the Feedback Assistant app doesn't seem to launch for me in b2. Only thing that is broke here (will try restarting).

Hopefully this fixed the horrible bug where the keyboard in safari blocks whatever text field you're trying to enter if it's too low on the page!

How does Apple still think that on the iPhone X that space below the keyboard is acceptable?

That screen real estate is just begging to be used.

Ergonomics + Home screen gestures.
(Try invoking control center on an 11.4 non "X" iPhone ... takes a few tries and likely, you'll hit the space bar at least once.)

those 4 millimeters aren't worth the trade-off.

Anyone else getting the iOS 12 beta 2 bug where it keeps asking you to update or reapprove the phone number linked to your Apple ID?

I've approved my number like five times now and it still keeps asking me to do it.

It's doing that for me too. I think maybe it resets when you restart a device? My iPad hasn't prompted it for me since I updated it, but I havne't restarted it. Yet, I''ve had the phone ask immediately after a reset.

I don't understand the purpose of AirPower tbh. I want a Qi Portable Battery that can charge Apple Watches.

lmao, but I guess it needs some sort of software to communicate to the phone which fancy animation to play when you put your stuff on it. Watch this being put on sale one week before the September keynote

I mean, it might need to do some fancy management to recognise what is placed on it and how it should charge it, as well. As the article points out, you can place any device anywhere and it should start charging. All pads I've used wouldn't charge anything if you even put the phone half a cm to the left of the coil.

I feel like these power mats are over rated, and worse than having a socket. Give me true fast wireless charging or give me a socket.

Nah, wireless charging rules. Even if you have the be a bit precise, the ability to just set your phone down and pick it up at a whim with no regard for cables is great. The second the AirPower is on sale I'll get it

Speaking of wireless charging and more scoops:

I hope they don't do this until we have legit wireless charging. The Witricity stuff with no mats and no cables.

I've come to really love the wireless charger I bought from Anker at my work.
I don't even have to be precise about it, just plop it down.

That AirPower does sound way over-engineered though. I have zero interest. It doesn't even look good.

Wireless charging sucks, for me. Charges slower than a cable and stops charging once you handle the phone. For many battery-intensive situations you can't charge while using. To top it off there are the alignment/target issues.

If this AirPower charges more reliably without the need of alignment then I consider it slightly better than regular wireless charging. But hardly anyone could convince me to pay 200+ for it. It wouldn't even let me use nightstand mode with the Apple Watch ffs.

If wireless charging had been the norm before cables were invented, cable charging would be considered a life improving innovation. "Finally, you can text without interrupting charging!".

I'm gonna go ahead and dismiss this rumor altogether, although I don't doubt philosophically Apple has asked themselves if they can do it. It's just that the answer is no for the foreseeable future.

The funny thing is that the AirPower mat sounds much nicer for the watch and airpods than it does for the phone (I like to be able to use my phone while it's charging, the others not so much).

I told y'all this is Apple's endgame and you didn't believe me
I believe that's the endgame but also that we aren't anywhere near there. Not happening in the next 5 years I reckon, by then I'd have to reassess how technology evolved.

Then again, we also aren't there for all USB-C to make sense on a computer yet but there you go.

Lol a charger running iOS lite.

$200+ confirmed.

"A charger running a full smartphone OS, have we over-engineered this? Nah." - Apple

This shouldn't be surprising or considered overengineered. Even the Lightning Digital AV Adapter runs XNU (basically the kernel of iOS). XNU is not a hardware intensive kernel to run. Chances are it will have some form of custom ARM chip based off a Cortex-M variant that will boot XNU and then go straight into the power charger management daemon.

If the whole pad charges reliably, and you don't have to carefully place your phone (which kinda spoils the convenience of the whole thing), it can run Windows ME for all I care.

If Apple was already considering shipping a phone with no port last year, there's no way they don't do it for real within 5 years.

Apple's always a bit over-aggressive with pulling these kinds of moves.

Any iOS 12 CarPlay users answer this for me.

Just now on 11, I give Siri a command and he responds. Any subsequent commands work but I get no audio cues to indicate it's working, just the visual ones. That fixed in 12?

Anyone else having issues with getting logged out of all your websites on the latest Mojave Beta / Safari?

Also it sucks that you have to have a paid dev account to use MapKit JS...

It seems the Music app has been made even worse in iOS 12 from the beta? Now whenever I go to search I can only search all of apple music, with no option to limit to only my library. Theres also no way to add anything to my library from the app. Unless I am missing something?

Not being able to search your library seems like a massive oversight!

Must be a glitch on your end, when I tap the search bar I can toggle between Apple Music or my library just fine

Is that on iPhone or iPad? On my iPad when I go the search page it just says 'Search' at the top and then the search says 'Apple Music' inside it in grey (where the search text goes once you type into it). When I tap on it, it just brings up the keyboard to type in a search.

Can you add stuff to your Apple Music library?

iPhone and iPad search correctly, I can add music on both
