The Last Jedi-haters have really crossed beyond madness at this point. It's delusion. How, even on this forum, there is always someone spewing hatred over Rian Johnson or The Last Jedi at the mere mention of something even remotely connected. It's unhealthy.

That they're even launching a campaign like this is just mind-boggling. Accept that you can't like everything and move on. If anything treat it like a divorce. Don't be the guy who stalks your ex. Accept that things didn't work out and leave Star Wars-fandom. Try getting a more productive outlet.

INT. CAVE OF JEDI POWER - DAY (BUT LOOKS KIND OF LIKE NIGHT BECAUSE IT'S SO DARK)

We pan across a collection of large SWORDS and AXES with BLOOD on them. Off to the side, buff and glisten-chested LUKE SKYWALKER fits on a new ROBOT HAND except the fingers are miniature LIGHTSABERS.

LUKE

Kylo Ren...I'm going to kill you,
you cuck libtard shit.

Nearby, REY lies sprawled on the floor. She is tastefully nude which we can do because this is RATED R which is how it should be.

It was a terrible movie but all it should equate to is a shrug and a "maybe I won't watch the next one" and move on with your life.

This "team of producers" is claiming they will have $200 million to fork up for the remake. At the same time they're taking pledges. And the website looks like it was made by a teenager in a "website creation 101" class...who doesn't know how apostrophes work.

Jesus Christ.

Put it spoiler if you must, but can anybody enlighten me what's so bad about the movie?

I can't speak for the hardcore fans, but I didn't think much of it.

The long and the short of it is that the entire movie is an exercise in ironic reversal. That is, the writers set out to take every established trope of Star Wars and every expectation and turn it on its head. Presumably, this was something of a response to the criticism that TFA was just a remake of A New Hope. The end result, however, is that they spend the entire movie gleefully undermining expectations to the point where the entire plot becomes utterly predictable. Add on to this the fact that the main villain was killed off, the two key minority characters had nothing useful to do and so were sent off on a pointless sideplot for half the movie, they cast Del Toro and didn't do anything particularly interesting with him and they inserted a bizarre scene wherein Leia decided to fly through space using the Force. Killing off Luke is neither here nor there for me. I wasn't much a fan of his new characterisation but the current trilogy is more about the younger generation than the original cast.

It just seems blatantly clear that there's no over-arching plan for the new trilogy and the plot has sort of been left swinging in the wind with nowhere to go. If Kylo were actually a compelling villain I might not feel the same way.

Kinda disheartening to see people who didn't like TLJ painted as misogynist, nitpicking weirdos. The movie was a true turd but this is just embarrassing. Reminds me of the multitude of Kickstarters promising sequels and remakes of existing IPs.

You know when people say "lol" but don't actually laugh out loud? Well I actually laughed out loud, so lol.

I'm curious who running this and what their really want. Like are they the people who "White men" to be in the leading role? It just when I hear someone say diverse in a statement it just a way to cover up racism and sexism in their actually intentions.

Real talk, if they are looking for people to write a new script than they are not ready at all.

Star Wars fandom is becoming silly.

Seriously, redoing the Prequels I can understand (but even then: it's what we got, accept it). But TLJ was the most exciting Star Wars movie since a long time. Not only that, it was also a big budget blockbuster that didn't aim at the common dominator, but had a real directorial vision. Is it flawed? Sure. But I'll take a movie that actually has something to say, and finds exciting ways to say it, over the checkboxed-blockbusters we're otherwise bombarded with.

"Hey can you spend 3 years remaking a movie instead of working on a new one?"

Move the fuck on.

I hate TLJ as much as the next guy, but this is absurd. It's absurd because Disney would never consider it, because they could never possibly raise $600 million and because letting rabid fans do something like this would be a colossal mistake, both story-wise and PR-wise.

Maybe they will try and do it with a low budget with new actors. Maybe we will get Star Wars: The Room basically lol

Shit like this is why I'm glad I quit being a SW fan. Their fan base has been toxic for a long time.

What's crazy about this particular nitpick is the movie stars two white guys and a white woman. The poc characters are decidedly supporting background characters and it's still forced diversity?

Not to mention it would constitute a colossal fuck-ton of IP infringement and they would get sued for every cent they'd raised.

Haha. Can you imagine a second Star Wars 8 releasing? JJ better stop production on IX to see where these dopes leave the story!

Just do something else with the Mary Poppins scene, rejig the Luke getting ready to murder a teenager scene, and most importantly figure out a way to make the casino plot not seem out of place and I would be fine.
It's still an enjoyable star wars movie for me as is though.

Great idea, it might be the only way Disney can save the Star Wars brand now. The Last Jedi is hands down the worst 'big' movie I've ever seen. Can't believe Disney released that crap yet fired that Jurassic World dude for Ep IX.

Remake the Last Jedi said:
We will be consulting with Star Wars fans directly throughout the writing of the remake of The Last Jedi as the plan is to make a version of TLJ that is as close to universally accepted as possible

There is no reality that exists where any new Star Wars movie pleases most of these people. What was the last Star Wars movie made that was met with near universal "fan" approval? The 1977 original?

They want a team of people that "both loved and hated TLJ".

Because they're fair and balanced.

And because "love" and "hate" are, of course, the only two possible feeling to have for a movie.

Fuck this binary shit. Fuck people who think you have to fully love or hate everything.
