No one becomes president without being a bit full of yourself. None of you have ever had a professor that said the said thing? I had a few.

Tl dr, I don't have a problem with this.

Saying that's scolding is a stretch from the video.

And to be honest, it's not like Macron is wrong here in his reason. Is this a scandal in France or something? I wish the political scandal in US is this tame.

Damn, he ripped the poor boy a new asshole in front of the entire nation. I mean, he's not wrong of course, but still.

I have no problem with Macron wanting to be called Mr President. The stupid bit about getting a diploma before wanting to do the revolution and posting the clip on his twitter account though is completely unwarranted. There are better ways to show what a big man you are than humiliating a 14 years old teen for the whole country to see.

A bit strange. Kid calls him Manu (a bit silly, but okay) and he starts talking about a revolution.

This.

14 years old are stupid, I was an utter moron when I was 14, but getting humiliated in front of the country, having every TV channel (especially those assholes at BFMTV) bashing that kid again and again is wrong.

Maybe he's trying to emulate François Bayrou who slapped a kid on TV and saw his popularity rise 6.8%. Macron needs that since his approval has been dropping like a rock.

For people who don't follow closely the French political world: At this time Mr. Bayrou was candidate to the presidential election and slapped a kid who was pickpocketing him during a public meeting.

I mean, I would throw hands if someone called me Manu Ginobli.

Yes, fuck teenagers. They need to learn some respect.

Manu is a somewhat common nickname for Emmanuel in Europe (probably elsewhere too, not sure), kind of like Mikey to Michael for example but not as common, it's not a unique nickname for Macron.

Any ways, to get upset around this is fucking ridiculous. Macron is a piece of shit any ways, fucking over workers and poor, also why his approval rating is plummeting. Doesn't deserve respect.

This is so infantile, getting upset over a teenager calling you by a common nickname, he's as fragile as Trump in a lot of ways too, behaves similarly as well with his authority complex.

Bayrou was a presidential candidate when that happened, Macron is the president. The power level is not the same. And Bayrou didn't go around afterwards posturing about what happened.

Yeah awesome. So cool of you Mr President to be able to scold a teenager. And then publish the video on your own damn twitter account for everyone to see how badass you are. Much better than when you were holding hands with Trump.

What a piece of shit.

There is never a reason to be required to call someone by a title. Expecting that of someone is gross, to me.

Call me Sir. You fucking commoner.

I have french colleagues that insist to be called "vous" instead of "tu" (which is basically "you" in english).
I have no issue with that. By default I always says "vous", it's up to the person to tell me don't, "tu peux me tutoyer" (you can use "tu").
French language is very complex, so to me there is nothing really suprising here. The kid should know those codes, he is french after all :p

I was talking about this with my French colleague yesterday, because it randomly popped up on my newsfeed.

I miss the days of dijon mustard and tan suit scandals and not kids being locked up in fucking cages.

Reacting like that to a teenager seems pompous, IMO. "I'd prefer you called me President" would have sufficed.
And then using the clip as a piece of communication on your official twitter account :

Nothing says embodying authority like going off on a kid for something innocuous and using it like that.

I'm a grown ass man and if I ever happen to meet my current president, I won't be showing him an ounce of respect. So everyone saying good on Macron, nah.

People seriously trying to act like Manu's in the right here? Dude needs to get his head out of his ass, presidents are public servants.

When I went to school in France I'd never have thought about calling a teacher, let alone the fucking president, by their first name. This is kinda expected, although admittedly a bit overboard.

Different cultures approach politeness differently.
