My main advice would be take the time to qualify well. It's a lot easier to have a nice clean race and do well if you're starting near the front rather than in the middle of the pack. Have a look at what cars the top guys are using but until you go up in rank it's going to be more about how well you can drive the track than differences in car performance.
Noted, thanks!

All the top Race A times yesterday used corner cutting cheats. Le Mans track release had been a disaster. So many broken boundaries.

Oh man, so this is ending up like GT Academy v2 for them.

The other manufacturers need to step up.
Nissan will have savage competition for those limited places. It's 3 per country right?

My heart says Nissan and Alfa.

Performance says Porsche.

I really don't know haha.

Update is downloadable now

I would personally like to go with Honda but the GT3 is nowhere performance wise....

Toyota?

Do we know if they have tyre wear or fuel consuption on in the FIA events? In our league events the Aston Martin, Mercedes and BMW were probably the strongest in the endurance events but I'm leaning towards the Corvette or Citroen if there's no wear or consumption...

Are there BOP adjustments in this patch?

There doesn't seem to be any announcements about what it includes yet and the servers are still offline.

Edit : looks like nothing much really...

I guess the content patch is coming later. Odd how this stuff gets pushed further back. Originally the FIA season was supposed to start before E3.

I'm nearing all gold on the circuit experience, the only one left is a full lap of Nurburgring. The time for gold is 6:57 and I'm at 7:05 now. Any tips for this track or is it just trial and error?

Thanks guys

I would say it is just a case of learning the track, it is a long track so 8 seconds there is equivalent to 1.5 or so at any other track so you aren't too far off. If you are still having trouble after a few more laps maybe have a look at a youtube video or two and see where the differences are.

Yeah when I started I was at 7:13 so I've knocked a lot off already. I figured it would just be doing it a lot, but maybe someone had a good tip haha

Focus on the sectors you're comfortable with and try to make up most of your time there. Then you can be a bit more conservative in the other sectors.

So if you pick a manufacturer you can only race with their cars during the season? What if they only have cars from one or two classes?

So the Manufacturers cup will be entirely GR3 and GR4 races since the majority of Manufacturers have a car in each class (no Buggati for example as there's no GR3). The Nations cup will be more varied as you aren't tied to any 1 manufacturer.

I really wish there was more to their seasons than this FIA stuff. Just feels like GT Academy again. There should be something to strive for in Sport mode as well. It would make battling for positions other than wins feel worth it. Right now, if I get spun or make a mistake that puts me out of contention for a win, there is little to no point. SR /DR is super fluid and pointless. If anything I prefer to take a hit in DR and SR, it at least gives me a challenge to rank up again. The only "goals" GTS has put in front of me for sport mode is to slowly grind for the pole position and wins trophy. Putting all of the "season" and ranking eggs in the one FIA basket is shit. None of the two competitions are fun to me. I want a single make league so I don't have to worry about how bad their BOP tuning still is. The offerings in GTS are still thin imo. I doubt we will ever see additional features added to sport mode. The best I can hope for is more lobby options so we can make our own leagues work. It is worth noting the hilarity/irony that PD add "Leagues" to GTS but made it offline single player races against some of the worst AI in racing history. They are still so oblivious as to what else is out there in racing sims.

Porsche time. In practice I finally managed a 3.20 hopefully I can manage a 3.19 with a good draft.

Edit: Qualified 4th because of a tiny mistake in the Porsche curves (.107 behind the #2), basically the worst position imo because your immediately 1 second behind 3 coming out of the chicane at the start.

Finished 4th. 1217 points. Decent position I guess.

Nice going, what was your qualifying time and what DR are you?

Did you only have enough time for 1 quick lap in qualifying?

EDIT: wait, website said 17:00-21:00, game says 19:00-23:00.

A/S (36k points atm). I drove a 3.24.1, fastest time in my session was a 3.23.2. But you're going out with a full tank so I think you can try to dump as much fuel as possible before your lap.

Yup, just one lap. Basically I went out asap, did a pretty fast outlap and still came 20 seconds short for a second lap.

What are people doing for strategy? Considering no stopping...

Yeah don't do that, came 2nd but with my pace I would have won with one stop...

Hell, I wish I had something that late. The races here are 15:00 - 19:00.

The whole FIA thing feels a bit pointless though for anyone besides an alien. Wish they had done multiple classes so all of us had a chance to win something.

Well that's that for the manufacturer cup. Messed up my qualifying, my first hot lap I got stuck behind someone in the first corner, ignored blue flags and completely messed up my lap. What I should have done at that point was save my tires or come in the pits for new ones. I didn't do either because I was frustrated and ended up qualifying 18th.

Then the race starts, make a stupid mistake because I'm still frustrated because of qualifying and end up 20 seconds behind in 20th. Switched up strategy to a 2-stop, first one only tires second one fuel and tires. End up in 17th. But lesson learned, need to keep my cool. Ah well.

Ugh, I may have quit out there, quakified 2nd, GTR steamrolls me at the start then sucks through the esses, trying to avoid them through Dunlop I put a wheel on the grass, spin, come back in 19th, last place knocks me off at Degner 2, am 30 seconds behind so yeah...

Urgh I had a nightmare in both races too. Didn't have a great qualy on Suzuka, started 14 but was up to 8th by lap 5 then I got pushed wide on 130R and got a massive penalty and then put it in the gravel stupidly trying to stop to take it. Ended up dropping back to last and falling off the track through pushing too hard and making daft mistakes. Think I might've been in the same lobby as you FeD - you've gone with Ferrari haven't you?

Sarthe I got blocked on my qualifying lap by a Spaniard trying to scrub off his penalty so placed 7th when I had the pace for 2nd. Was going pretty well and up to 4th when I had a brain fade and didn't put enough bloody fuel in so had to put twice and finished 14th. Balls.

Decided to skip Nation's round, I was waaay off pace and couldn't stop picking up penalties during practice. Didn't wanna tank my SR.

As for Manufacturers I chose Lexus, qualified 5th, finished 2nd with clean race bonus. Guy in 1st with the new Toyota was unreachable. Not a fan of the Gr3 Lexus though

Umm, so I guess it didn't register my first go at the manufacturers cup....

I got in again, had qualifying ruined then got span out at 130R, this killed my rear tyres but I had to slide around until the end of lap 5 so I could make it on one stop, got back up to 8th, had a fun race in the last half but had to protect my tyres all of the time to make them last 7 laps.

Damn had a good qualification yesterday which gave me a 4th starting place. In the first corner someone hit me on the side which caused me to go off the track (him too luckily). When I reset I was 13th so that was shitty, but I didn't give up because we still had 4 full laps to go. In the end I finished 6th again, so overall pretty good haha. Too bad I got hit tho

Yeah that was me! Luckily for us only the 2 best results count. Suzuka was a massive disappointment for me as well.

Ah that's good, I hadn't realised that - the timing of the events isn't great for me with working away and going on holiday so I've probably missed my best chances for a good result :-(

Do you not fancy our Sunday evening league? We've had a couple of guys drop out so there's space if your up for it.

Took me a while but I managed to get gold on the Nurburgring lap (was 1 second behind gold on my second clean lap and couldn't make another clean lap for like an hour after that -.- )

So all gold in the driving school and all gold with the tracks, now time for Sport mode!

Well done :-)

Sport mode is a completely different experience, personally I'd recommend the 3rd daily / longer races as they tend to be easier to build your DR and SR - the shorter races tend to be a mad scramble for places imo.

Yesterday I tried my hand again at daily races, mostly the first one. Aside from two races, where it matched me with the guy at the top of the leaderboard (I was 25th at that time, then dropped around 60th at the end of the day), I was really impressed with the matchmaking system: fastest laps were all really close and there was some tense racing. And it's cool when you meet clean drivers and get to race with them again, and greet them in the chat.

Picked up some poles, fastest laps, and wins. Almost DR A now.

But as gutterboy44 said above, there should be a better progression system. Driver rating is just not enough.
I wish there was an additional championship where you can get promoted/demoted in different class of cars. Not sure if it can be done in a fair way, but still... Can you imagine starting from N-something cars and making your way up to Gr1?

Finally decided to break the bank and get a 4K tv. Even without a PS4Pro, just with HDR enabled this game is incredible. So many details I never noticed suddenly stand out.
Guess I'll be playing this for a while to come, even though I'd sort of dropped it.

I would love to fill in, I just noticed that my notifications don't show up so every time GHG asked me I just didn't notice it.

On another note just did the manufacturer race. Qualification went better this time, though certainly not perfect. On my first quick lap I got hit (not very hard) coming into the last hairpin, giving him a 5-second penalty and myself a 1-second penalty. Immediately forgot about that lap and went into the pits for fresh tires. Coming out I only had a little under 5 minutes left so I decided to not to take big risks on my final attempt. The lap went without any incidents but I did drove perhaps too conservative. Qualified 8th .270 behind #4 which I could definitely have driven.

Now the race went pretty okay, I wanted to see how the first lap would unfold and after the first corner I lost 1 place. Then the subsequent lap I was behind the pack and couldn't get a good clean overtake, so I decided to safe my tires as much as possible and set my brake bias to the rear to alleviate my front tires. Now lap 5 I got greedy and thought I could get an overtake on the one in front so I set my bias back to the front made to overtake and got past him but looking back on it I probably should not have done that. Lap 6 I came into the pits on 8 just for fuel. Came out of the pits in 3rd with the tires still feeling pretty good. Now fast forward to lap 9, I'm still in 3rd but my tires just get to the point where they completely fall off, eventually costing me 2 places. If I didn't made the greedy overtake earlier in the race the tires would have lasted just that bit longer and I might have been third and definitely 4th. But still 5th is okay, especially after the disaster that was Suzuka, got 1197 points for it so I can't complain.

Nice one about the league, look forward to racing with you tomorrow:-)

Very nice points haul there, how was the Ferrari for speed on the straight? I was surprised how slow the VW, Porsche and BMW's were, they were all sitting ducks for my Merc on the straight. I didn't have a great race again tho, messed up qualifying so started 13th then got spun on the 2nd corner and dropped back to 19th. Had a decent run and would've finished around 8th if I hadn't clipped a wall and got a 5 second penalty on my last lap :-(

Had a better time in the nation's race, qualified 9th and finished 7th that wouldvew been 5th if it wasn't for the 5 x 1 second penalties I got for being hit by other drivers :-(

Still it was a lot better than wednesday - speaking of which I forgot about this ridiculous 10 second penalty I picked up in that race...

I wasn't actually trying to overtake him, just not rear end him...

Forgettable night for me: in the Nation's Cup I qualified 6th, got up to 3rd, then finished 7th (711 points). Also tried the Nurb daily but got punted off at the first corner and then ragequitted after a lap. Hopefully my SR doesn't take a hit.

On the bright side I discovered that, on the website, you can obtain other people's SVGs by changing the last number + extenson of the URL of the preview image (from 1.png to 0.svg)

Pretty useful: I just redid the Huracan italian stripe that another guy uploaded, but his version had pretty washed out colors.
