My 5 year old has an American Girl doll and she loves playing Xbox games like Lego Dimensions (just running around the maps) and Disneyland Adventures (bc, it's Disney).

So yeah. I'll probably buy her this for Christmas.

In what way is this bad? It's just promoting to other girls that it's okay to play games and it's not just a boy thing. Inclusion is good.

I don't quite understand how this is an interesting basis for playing with the doll. "X plays videogames" does not make for an interesting narrative and I am sure it will not inspire the imagination of a child for a long time. This, to me, appears to be more like something for adults to feel good about giving as a present than something optimised to bring the most enjoyment to a child.

I strongly approve of her choosing the superior Xbox One color scheme. That white controller looks so classy.

I know I will sound like an asshole, but shouldn't be more obvious visually she is a girl?
I am very sure someone can mistaken it as a doll of a boy.

While it's fun to make jokes relating to streamers; I think this is a great means of being more inclusive and encouraging young girls to not think of gaming as "a thing that boys do".

I'm surprised at the negativity ITT. I think my daughter would enjoy this since she likes AG doll stuff and sees me play games. Why not?

Because overwatch/fortnite etc have taught me that the moment I hear a little kid (male or female) on a headset either screeching or various slurs are coming within 30 seconds.

So while most people don't have an actual issue with this existing, it's more than fair to only think negatively due to the above.

What's sad is I feel some of you would say these things openly in a mall with your friends where little children who absolutely love these dolls would hear.
I had friends who use to do the same with Pokemon and it infuriated me to no end.

If you went by the reactions on Era, you would think that Bloodbourne is the most popular game of all time, Minecraft is some weird indie thing that a couple of people play, nobody cares about Pokemon or Brawl, and Roblox and World of Tanks don't even exist.

It's stunning how incompetent Era, like GAF before it, is at reading the market.
