Gonna have to watch their watch along and reacts to Sony after my hockey game. I have a feeling it won't be as hyped as I thought it'd be going in.

Geez, they were so lukewarm with Tsushima and I thought it looked amazing. Even their Twitch chat was unbearable. People literally typing "zzzzzz". Jebus.

Anyone else feel like Microsoft's press conference was a great E3 press conference but a bad Xbox conference? Outside of the new Halo that appears to be open world, there isn't much coming to that console that would entice me to buy one when PlayStation or even the Switch exists. All their new studio acquisitions are a big deal, but new games from those studios will probably still be a way out and it remains to be seen whether they can produce the kind of games we're used to seeing from Sony and Nintendo first party studios.

I also thought Nintendo's was super underwhelming. Did they really need to spend 30 minutes talking about what were essentially Super Smash Bros. patch notes? The announcement of all the characters returning was so hype and then they followed up with something pretty dull. Also, where were the new game announcements? Outside of Mario, Zelda and the proper Pokemon game for 2019 I'm still struggling for reasons to buy a Switch. I want to buy into this console, but I've been fooled by so-so offerings of games on Nintendo platforms too many times before.

I agree on both accounts. MS had more games I'll be playing than Sony did, but none of them I'll be playing on Xbox. And pretty much nothing in the Nintendo conference interested me.

As soon as they announced that Xbox would be sharing games with Windows, a majority of the reason for owning an Xbox went out the window. I agree with you simply because they have done little to really provide a reason as to why we must own an Xbox. For those with a PS4 and a PC, owning an Xbox is trivial at best right now. I honestly think they should go back to not sharing every single exclusive that way people are once again forced to pick up the latest Xbox.

There's no especially strong reason for them to. The margins on software are waaay better than the margins on hardware. The main reason why MS / Sony want you to buy their latest hardware is as an incentive to keep buying software on their platform. So as long as you're buying a game on the Xbox ecosystem then MS is making the same amount of money.

Nintendo was my #1 for sure, but like Tim I was disappointed (especially by Fire Emblem) and felt Smash was given way more time than needed. Parse some of the details out for hardcore fans and drop that as a second trailer after the Invitational, similar to what they did for Splatoon 2 today.

Sony, was very dissapointing to me. I felt my time was being wasted. Also, I felt there was very little genre diversity. Everything felt like a 3rd person action adventure with heavy story elements. Where are the 2D platformers? The Patopons? The tactics games? I was a bit bummed out except Death Stranding looks insane in a good way!

Microsoft, I agree with what others said. I am pumped for Tunic, Jump Force, and War Groove among what was shown, but I can wait until these games get ported to Switch.

No offence, but this is a poor criticism that I see constantly thrown around. If you think Ghost of Tsushima looks and plays like the Last of Us and Spider-Man and Death Stranding and Days Gone then I don't really know what to say. The only two games that can be called remotely similar other than being third-person (seriously, who cares that they're third-person?) is Days Gone and The Last of Us and that's purely because they both have zombie-like creatures. Not to mention you're completely disregarding Dreams, which is radically different. Outside of that zombie element, they're completely different. If you specifically want 2D platformers and stuff of that ilk there are literally dozens of games being released either by third parties or indies all the time.

Even though the PS ecosystem runs deep, I didn't get that vibe with how they focused their presentation. In most years I would be reluctant to say their content ran together, but it really struck me when compared to Microsoft this year. MS had Cuphead DLC and Ori, which really impressed me. I felt a real push to diversify their content overall, which, granted, they need much more than Sony.

I actually did think the walking movement of Ghosts and TLOU2 looked really similar to one another. Ghosts also looked a lot like Nioh to me. Death Stranding, admittedly, looked much more BotW-like with its free climbing and open world shots. Spiderman looked like many other superhero games from what I saw.

Dreams does look neat, but I don't think they showed it off?

I agree 100% with what some of you guys have said with Microsoft's E3. When when watching that all I could think of was "Wow they are killing it!", then I realized that majority of the games that blew me away were multiplat and games I would be playing on my PS4 Pro.

Playstation's conference was definitely slower, especially with the two musical bits, and we saw a lot of what we already knew. The difference though or me I guess is that the games on the Playstation Conference were the games I personally cared to play and see. Which made theirs more exciting for me personally.

Yeah MS conference was better live than it is post conference. It was entertaining to watch and had good hints for potentially brighter future for Xbox but they really don't have games right now. I have my launch Xbox and I still have not plans to use it more than 20hours a year this year similar to the past 2-3 years which is really bad. Obviously, if you like Halo, Gears, or Forza then you have something to look forward too but I thought Playground's Fable was going to be at the show.

Sony intermission was dumb and boring to the live viewers if the want. If they wanted to pad the show, the should've put in their pre/post show announcements in the show with more Dreams, Days Gone and Concrete Genie. Regardless, the games on the show were amazing and some of the best in this E3. More importantly there are exclusives already out this year, coming this year, and coming early next year.

I really like the set up they had on the Gamespot stage when they were doing their Best of Show of E3 (and other interviews). Not sure if it was also Gamespot people doing the camera's but the switches to each person talking periodically plus showing examples of what they were talking about (when they were talking about their favorite choices gameplay videos showed either behind them or became full screen) which was super cool. (It was similar with What's Good Games on their Facebook Gaming stage with the camera swaps as well).

I think it would be pretty cool if they incorporated some of that in their studio.

I imagine the big incentive for selling people Xbox is to get them invested in the ecosystem. They get money from every game sold on Xbox live rather than just the few games they put on pc. Also not to mention getting people to subscribe to Xbox live and gamepass. Pushing your customers away from the hardware to PC must be losing them money.

It appears Cool Greg was spending "too much time" in the bathroom on the plane and they kicked him off thinking he was probably doing drugs. Tim came to his defense and they kicked HIM off cause they said he was intoxicated, even though Tim says he hadn't been drinking. So, because Cool Greg looks the way he does, they just assumed he was using in the bathroom when in fact he was having stomach issues from being anxious about flying.

This just makes me even more terrified of flying because i have terrible anxiety and IBS and they pretty much go hand in hand.

Really cool to see them playing more Fortnite in their free time. Gives me hope for a better video in the future.

Really? I thought Andy Cortez was the only negative one while Tim and Greg were positive. Greg had positive feedback from the demo that he saw behind closed doors I thought?
Anyway, Tsushima was in my top 3 games of the show

Does anyone know how publishers handle the influencer insignia when they decide who to give closed doors access to? Like is Greg still benefitting from the IGN days or is Kinda Funny just big enough to get that access?

My guess is it's just relationships he's built and Greg is very well liked among games people. But he does have a lot of followers

It varies a lot, depending on three things primarily: how much space do they have to show off the game, how popular do they expect the game to be, and how ready is the footage. The less finished the demo is, the more the publisher wants to trust that the people they're showing it off to can appreciate how a game in development looks. But if you have a public-ready game and a good amount of space but your game isn't as popular, then you might be more lenient and let YouTubers in with only a few thousand subs.

Listening to the most recent GoG and holy shit Kevin basically defends all of the knuckle-dragging idiots who harassed Kelly Marie Tran on social media saying it's "Star Wars fault" for making such a hated character and then he keeps doubling down on this stance by bringing up that Star Wars is important to people. Nick and Greg both made some really suss comments too, I can't listen to these guys discuss anything Star Wars-related anymore.

No one defended it. He was just making it clear that that's why people were mad and that it is understandable to feel passionate about it, not that it was okay to harass the actor on twitter. He even said something like people "cross the line" when it comes to expressing that, which was a reference to the harassment and such.

Tim was just non stop talking shit on yesterday's Games Daily.

Dude needs to think before he speaks sometimes. The whole FF7 discussion was fucking wack.

Huh, I listened to the podcast and didn't notice anything unusual. I presume this had to do with interruptions? which I felt since it was betting show results those would happen.

I think it has to do more with how often Jared interrupts others. If you're a podcast listener I guess you miss the "looks" sometimes when he does it.

I like Jared fine just wish he would "tune" it down a bit. When he use to be more a guest host on the shows I liked him a lot more. He seemed super respectful and had good insight on games that the others didn't.

Now, it kind of seems he's trying to be more like Greg and Tim with their hype levels and it just seems out of place a little.
