If I had to describe this event to someone new, it's like expecting Paladins, but getting Overwatch with a platforming segment. Everything that makes Paladins special... The loadouts, the items, and the talents... All gone.

I harp on it a lot, and I love the game, but this event is a special kind of awful. Hopefully one more match I can be finally done with it.

Wonder if it'll still be active on Switch come the 27th. I have it downloaded on my Xbox X but I did the founders on Switch and hoping for maybe cross progress with Xbox in the near future. Really hoping Switch gets a lot of the missing content on the 27th... account linking bonuses, twitch prime linking and what not.

Yeah, it's a fun idea very poorly implemented. The cutscenes are far too long to have to watch every time. The platforming is kind of fun, but too long for how inconsequential it is. The final match is the blandest most vanilla Paladins experience I could think of.

Siege of Ascension Peak was like Paladins on overdrive. Halving the cooldown rate halved made for some really fun loadouts and playstyles, like Goomba-stomping Buck, or super roll-happy Cassie, or spinny spin spin whirlwind Zhin. The only bad things about that were the annoyingly silent meteors, limited character selection, and the Khan cutscene (which, rather than being learned from, has been repeated exacerbated in this new event).

Speaking of which, one of the things about the Khan cutscene that kind of worked was that it was teasing an upcoming champion. There was excitement to it, even on repeat viewings. The end cutscene of Rise of Furia shows off... Furia... who is already playable, so... I don't really feel anything seeing her except that I wish she was part of the character pool in that mode (95% sure she isn't).

It's like they designed the event to precede the champion launch but then the schedule changed, and here we are. :\

Twitch Prime probably won't be brought back for Switch, but I can't see HiRez screwing switch players out of the event + skins.

Edit: FUCK. 998 shards. Why couldn't it just give me 32 instead of 30 :(

I'm still having a tough time seeing how to get alternate costumes, sprays, emotes, etc without buying crystals.

I'm almost level 15 and don't feel like I've earned anything by playing except for chests that.... They want you to buy. I am enjoying the game but the way this is monetized is a huge turn off.

Nice. I figure I'm just gonna get the bundles. Got some crystals saved up from the 33% off sale, and I follow a discord that sometimes does giveaways (managed to score Jade Priestess Seris from the last event that way). I'll try to win any I can, and buy whatever I can't.

I've got every other skin for Drogoz (even the limited HRX one), and he's my 1st or 2nd most played champion, so I'm gonna need that super duper Drogoz skin.

If nothing else, you get 50 crystals every week if you log in each day. Gold can get you recolors. Playing ranked can get you a few rewards.

Unfortunately, you folks missed out on the VIP store, which was the best way to get skins without paying for a long while. It was too good, I guess, so they scrapped it and replaced it with the iffy Battle Pass.

But yeah, they need to make money somehow, so most of the stuff is going to be for sale. They went for a Pay to Win system for a few months until the community revolted, so things could certainly be worse.

Honestly don't over think it too much the game is super simple after you play a few games the systems are far from complicated.

The in-game tutorial is ...structured, but leaves out a lot of important information, like buying items and picking characters to balance out your team. I'd try to find a more in-depth tutorial on youtube or somewhere.
Thanks for the tips, especially the character types. I've pretty much dissed out the basics, but I need more time to explore loadouts and purchases. So far all my matches have been deathmatchs with mad rushes to the middle and lots of fighting.

Is there a way to explore/study the levels?

Besides finding resources online, playing against bots. Unfortunately I don't believe you can set up a 1 player and have the other 9 filled out by CPUs to really just explore unfortunately.

Was gonna jump into some ranked on Switch in an hour or so if anyone was interested! Could be bothered to just play regular as well if any newcomers wanted to group and get a feel!

Ok how do u get that skin??

If you're on Switch or Xbox, you can't yet. It's part of the event that's introduced with patch 1.1, which was delayed on those platforms and will be rolled into patch 1.2 in about a week and a half.

If you're on PC or PS4, you've got to buy one of the 400 crystal bundles from the event, which unlocks the event store. Then you've got to play the event mode, Rise of Furia, and earn the remaining 800 shards (it costs 1,000, but you get 200 from each bundle, including the one that you bought to unlock the store).

You earn one shard for every kill that your team scores in the deathmatch in the second half of the mode. The first team to 30 kills wins, so 30 shards is the most that you can earn in one go. At minimum, that's 27 victories.

Or you could buy more bundles and get the bonus shards. :P

Yeah, I only played the Rise of Furia event once to see what it was about. Once the patch hit, I bought the bundle and got all skins and enough shards to buy everything right away from the event store, played the event mode... which was meh, and I noticed that I had no reason to play it again at all since I already had everything.

On the previous Jenos event, I also bought the budles, but I did play the event a bit more, it was fun becuase it was regular siege with falling fireballs (which made no sound) and super reduced cooldowns, but also, there were the mini quests to unlock the roaming emotes, so I guess that one was a bit more engaging to me than the current one.

I'm pretty happy that it seems switch people have been enjoying this (posts on here and on reddit), I've been championing this game for a while now since I do believe is better mechanically than overwatch (although a lot less polished), more diverse and emergent. Hope the player base for this continues to grow.

On the switch port, it would've been a smart move to have the F2P version available too, seeing as how fortnite released on the same day for $0. Even though they are different games, I'm sure casual gamers will probably lump em together in their minds as similar games and go for fornite 90% the time, either due to fortnites 'fame' or because it is free, paladins asks for $30.

So is this game still in beta is it going to get a bigger push update to make it feel complete? Because I like this way more than overwatch

It's not officially in Beta anymore, no (Nintendo doesn't allow early access games on the eShop). It'll keep getting content updates, events, bug fixes, and new champions, but they've said they're done with huge overhauls, like Cards Unbound (the P2W system) or it's reversal, or the introduction/removal of the VIP system.

What do you mean by bigger push update?

Wow actually made it through a ranked game without getting DCed on Switch! Too bad the team did absolutely nothing that could be seen as cohesive teamwork in Siege a fucking Seris who didn't heal... like just don't...

I've been playing a lot and have yet to have a DC on Switch. Maybe just my luck? Also don't know how many of my games are against PC or humans but have yet to lose.

Anyways, bought for my first chest and immediately regretted it. I just want to buy my skins, not gamble for something I don't care for. That and loading are my only Switch issues but I'm loving this game.

I'm so sick of people picking Seris with 0 intention of healing... like idiots have a good game with her against bots or a bad team and think with shadow walk I can play her like a flank... but when you're the teams support just don't... you're not doing anyone any favors so please if you're not gonna mainly heal please let others pick Seris... because if you pick Seris on Siege then I'm gonna pick Fernando and I'm expecting some damn heals...

Goddamn Seris with 800 healing...

Honestly, Seris's proliferation kinda drives me bonkers. I get that she's easy-bake-Support, but come on, there are a bunch of others. At least she got a health nerf, but it cost Grover and Grohk unjust nerfs in turn :(

I am not sure why i had any doubts, but Furia is fucking amazing! So much fun to play omg.

Support right? Right now when I play support I really like Seris.

Seems like the easiest one to play with, for a new player, and still packs some good damage.

I try to follow my roles lol When playing with Seris I never go in alone and always try to keep behind other team members healing them!

I picked up this game last week and have been putting time into it. It is hard for me to wrap my head around how to approach fights cause I have never played anything like this before. I suck so much with damage and flank character and my K/D is almost 1.4:1....

I have stuck mainly to healers and tanks so that I can get maybe a better understanding of the flow of battle. I keep rushing with flanks and damage champions and end up getting myself killed, need to learn when to back off and recover. Also need to learn how to hunt snipers with flanks, I get too nervous about straying too far from the pack no matter what champ I use. Right now Zhin and Furia are my favs, Furia especially cause I have not clicked with anyone as much as her and also that beam is so damn cool.

Matchmaking is shit though, always have one guy you need to carry and if he is in a key role then gg. Flank can't flank snipers, damage running away from flank enemies, healer not healing, tank not waiting for the team to group up and rushing the objective.....list goes on.

Yes, she is the newest character. Seris and Furia are sisters.

Seris might be my favorite character in the game from day 1. But i wouldn't call her the easiest Support.

Furia is like more agressive version of Seris. They are pretty different but somehow similar.

I have a question RE: the Switch version. If I purchase and redeem the Founder's Pack on my US eShop account, will it grant me access to all Champions on my AUS account on the same console? Or only the US account used to purchase the Founder's Pack?

Also got Ice Walker Inara in that LVL 50 box. It was a lot of grinding but not that bad at the end.
I am going to miss Battle Pass, lol.

Bought the founders edition on Switch on a whim a while ago. Might actually have been a mistake, because I now have nothing to actually aim for, strange as that sounds. This is what I think buying an MMO account off ebay must feel like. Now I have a bunch of characters I don't know anything about and no clue what to grind for... well, except the quests and individual unlocks which might still be years of grinding, but that's kinda meager in the payout compartment compared to the excitement of unlocking an entirely new character. Oh well. F2P whale problems.

Played around with Ratchet&Clank canned Goblin Ruckus. Tons of fun, even with me getting curbstomped by more experienced players. Man, the first few games after getting out of the bots-only padded cell were ROUGH. Shame that the import-card-loadout-from-leaderboard feature on switch doesn't seem to work ("unable to retrieve Ruckus leaderboards" - could this be a sign? *squishedthinkingemoji.png* ) so I'm gonna have to actually do some reasearch instead of going cookie cutter and branch off from there. Booh.

Plus, man, the initial login is fickle. I can go into Fortnite on a crappy 3G hotspot and futz around in the settings and whatnot, but Paladins throws a hissy fit unless I'm at home on good old broadband. Many public hotspots in my area aren't good enough, either. (Just to be sure: I'm not insane enough to actually want to play a game in such a situation, but exploring the shops/quests or tweak loadouts or similar stuff would be a nice time waster on the go.)

Onwards, to many more deaths. And the occasional kill. And loads of cryptic "Msg ID: 200014/200015 not found" messages in the log. What are you trying to tell me, game.

Yup i also thought that but it seems the game even without free version is doing fine for now.
On the EU and US switch eshop charts i find the game on the top 10 best sellers of the last two weeks.
I also thought that fortnite coming out the same day take out a lot of hype from Paladins but even with only the Founder's Pack the game is selling fine.
And when Paladins goes F2P on switch it won't have the fortnite shadow that day so this might work for them.

This game clicks for me alot more than overwatch, so far only played it on PC. If I buy the founders edition on switch it would transfer to my PC account right? Both accounts would be in sync ?

Apologies if these have been asked before.. but two questions:

1) Playing on Xbone this morning and all characters seem to be unlocked? Am I missing something? I thought they cycled in and out of rotation like LoL? Was it just a weekend event thing?
2) Are the two modes currently just deathmatch and siege (the one with control point + payload)?

Welcome to the club! Yeah, in hindsight this might have not been the best idea for me, because I was in a similar situation and paralyzed due to the overwhelming number of Champions available to choose from (read: pick someone at random, try out their play styles, and try to remember if I want to stick with him/her/it as a main). Just keep at it.

I suspect a lot of the recent traffic in this thread is from new Switch players, actually.

Coming off of Overwatch, I'm used to having a selection of characters. That being said, isn't there still plenty of things to unlock with your progress? Skins/emotes/misc stuff? I haven't fully dug into Paladins yet.

The tree guy is my favorite, get lots of kills with his axe and the burst healing is crazy.
I was facing him a lot yesterday. It was pretty legit.

I was getting so frustrated yesterday too. No one wanted to play support in a majority of my matches. I picked Series for the heals. She is awesome, but no matter what I was doing, my teammates we're just not doing anything. Especially not paying attention to the objective.

Pretty sure there's an event on Xbox that temporarily unlocks all characters to apologize for the delayed patch.

And there are 3 game modes currently (not counting Rise of Furia), the Deathmatch Queue encompasses both Team Deathmatch and Onslaught, which is like King of the Hill.

When does this game become free? Very interested in playing it but I'd feel stupid dropping $40 on it when it will be F2P in the future.
