I don't know why my opinion matters in this regard. The movement was a long time coming and there are thousands of other industries who should be scared and rightfully so. I hope their time will come swiftly.
As I've stated before, only one accuser in over 25 years of being in the industry doesn't fit the norm for rapists, abusers, or people of that ilk. They are more likely to be serial perpetrators of abuse. In my opinion right now, the evidence isn't there and I prefer to be cautious than calling for his head. Chloe has a lot of past demons that people aren't looking for. Chris doesn't appear to from what I've seen.
I never said I wanted proof. I said he shouldn't make any call for the proof until he talks to lawyers or such. I'm not the one claiming for the proof to be shown to the public. I'm saying if their is proof, she has a case, but saying you have proof but aren't using it for whatever reason does sound a bit iffy to me.
If he is responsible for what is being claimed, what reason is there for her to withhold information from the proper authorities since she has already made all of this public? She should definitely take proof she has to the governing bodies and sort it out. Public social media isn't the place though. Especially when just claiming you have proof is enough to get someone fired from every current job with no real blowback on her.
I wanted to know your opinion on the movement in general because this story is a part of the movement. The issue with the way that you're looking at this, is that you're essentially giving a model that abusers have to meet, and if they don't, then you don't believe the accusations against them in the slightest. If the #MeToo movement has taught you anything, it should be that someone being nice and decent on TV or in movies does not somehow make them a good person. They are people that were in positions of power, and had the means to cover up what they were doing for a long time.
I understand that its easier to believe accusations when multiple women come forward, but not everyone who is an abuser or commits sexual assault will go after multiple victims. And it's not like victims themselves are keeping up with what that person was doing during all of that time, so they can't be sure of that either. If someone only sexually assaults one victim, then they're still guilty and I hope that you can understand that. And its important that we show support to victims whether they're the only one or not.
And most importantly, there's a difference between wanting to wait and see more evidence, and actively defending the accused while trying to discredit the accuser in any way you can. There's no reason to come into a thread about a topic like this and start talking about how she wants to settle this out of court, or how she's lying about parts of her story, or anything like that. It is frustrating from a victim point of view that people have that wait and see attitude, just because the nature of these crimes typically mean that there isn't much evidence, but its understandable to have that point of view. Just please don't come in here and start calling the victims liars, and please consider the impact of what you're saying, because what's said in these threads might be intended to be aimed at a specific case in general, but they do have impact on other victims who read through these.
And I know he's banned, this is more for other people peeking in with similar views.
