In addition, you might start a movement when people will follow you and start smashing their PS4 with a hammer to prove a point to Sony.

On Fortnite Dunno. Only played a couple of times on pc and hated it. Then got in on switch because it's free, why not? And it's amazing! So much more fun!
No I meant the Switch in general, obviously if you have two people who want to use them at the same time I guess? Just seems incredibly stupid to trade a PS4 for one over crossplay but whatever vote with your wallet I guess.

The second switch wasn't for me as I stated earlier. As far as giving up the the pro I'm ok staying away from Sony. Besides the switches in the house. I have a Xbox X and desktops with 970/1070. I'm going to be ok. As for the few ps4 exclusive games I miss the rest the gen oh well. But I have no problem jumping out now and avoiding tying myself to that platform anymore.
Isn't like that it doesn't work with XBOX either.
Or maybe you have friends that doesn't have a PC or PS4 and they wanna play with you on XBOX and Switch.
I was out of all this, and when i tried to play on switch and got locked, i was pissed for... 2mns. I just created a new account and and was down with this.

On a business plan they did the right thing, as every leader on every gen did. You lock and keep install base and purchases for you.

Last time I checked Sony only went Crossplay with Portal 2, the original FFXIV and Dragons Dogma Online (all of em on PC).
And besides, why defend bullshit (for us) because someone, some time ago was also doing this bullshit?
We're here and now and right now Sony is the only one not allowing this and it shouldn't be. Once everyone is pro crossplay, nobody can go back and that is a good thing
I'm hardly mad, but if you're going to try and justify Sony's position, best not to use faulty reasoning that's incomprehensible and ludicrous. And that's all that it was.
Basically being required to buy the controller for official reliable secondary controllers does not indicate acceptance any more than buying/paying for Xbox Live or PS+ indicates jubilation at the idea of paying for online. Plenty of people were pissed at the price tag of them and being required to re-purchase their controllers, especially when people weren't happy with the DS4's new form factor.
As an aside, that stat you referred to is "best selling controller of all time per dollars spent". Considering their MSRP is higher than any previous DualShock ($35 more than the DualShock 2, to be precise), it's not the metric that you think it is.

And don't misunderstand me, i really understand why ppl get mad and angry about this whole situation. Crossprogression should be the thing to do, i definitely agree. And with the bad press, i really do think they shange their aim. But meanwhile, if they don't, next big game and it'll be all over.

In all seriousness, you need to realize what a drop in the bucket this all is right now. The bad press? Did there, done that a year ago with Minecraft. People aren't trading their PS4s in masses (although that is one way to make actually an impact, too bad it's not happening). Sony is shitty for this, but don't think the impact is bigger than it really is right now.

Hey your cool with Sony controlling your gaming that's fine. I'm not, so I took action. So five years from now if Sony hasn't changed their stance your still locked in. Enjoy that when pretty much everything is GAAS is some form. Limiting your options is your call.

It doesn't matter if no one else cares.
It doesn't matter if this only effects a small portion of the gaming population.
It doesn't matter if Epic, the Media attention, or People On a Small Forum lack the leverage to force Sony's hand.
It doesn't matter if people have to pay a monthly fee on Switch or Xbox to play Fortnite.
It doesn't matter if Xbox blocked Crossplay before.
It doesn't matter if it makes sense business wise, for Sony or their Shareholders.
And most importantly, it doesn't matter if Sony is protecting the children, has sold 80 million Ps4's, and is confident that Ps4 owners already have people to play with.
There are only 3 things that could stop me from taking a moment out of my day to complain about this particular issue on this forum. Stopping because the subject ends up derailing too many barely related threads and becoming a bannable offense. Stopping because this subject ends up being considered as Console Warring and thus a bannable offense. And of course, Sony making it so accounts aren't held hostage anymore (With crossplay as a major plus). I just really want Crossplay to be a thing.
As long as yall are willing to take a moment out of your day to participate in these threads and help keep the subject visible, I am fine with most of the arguments above. Its fair to say that some of them are completely right. Its just that none of them negate what i am actually here for, to show my desire for something that hasn't happened and in my opinion, should happen, and i think that others in the thread feel the same. So if your here because you read something and though it was wrong, i think that's fine, even if the argument is in Sony's favor. But if your post is only to downplay the issue, downplay posters opinions, or to just defend Sony, you probably aren't going to get the result you wanted.

If I make purchases on one platform, log in on another platform, then have those purchases locked out on ANOTHER platform without being informed?

The console-maker in first place always acts the douchiest. They always get so cocky and forget how easy it is to have your customers turn on you. They're right that they've got such a massive player-base, they probably don't need to bend on this right now. However that doesn't mean stuff like this isn't going to be remembered by people that might be considering buying a PS4 or PS5 down the line.
I do think it's interesting how Shuhei aka Playstation Customer Service Rep has been completely silent on this issue. The only response has been an anonymous, corporate statement. I want to see Greg Miller get into it with the Shu-ster.

How dare people attack Sony for locking a third-party game's account onto their platform despite not owning it at all, no warning of such an action taking place and that you didn't even have to have spent any money on the PlayStation store for the account to be deemed theirs. /s
That's the biggest problem for me. I purchased my season pass on fucking PC. I haven't even touched the game on PS4, all I did was link and download it but never once opened it. Yet Sony has the sudden power to remove my access to the content I purchased not even on their platform. How the fuck are people okay with that?
If I haven't opened the game can I unlink my account but keep my pass? Does that work?
I think you'd be fine. Problem is the only way to test would be try and link on one of the other console platforms and effectively lock yourself there.
If you want to call people names, at least call out people at Sony who are in charge of these decisions. Smh
