I would say this won't translate to sales but then again I thought counting God of War views last year was also silly.

God of War, Last of Us, Horizon, Detroit, Zelda BotW, Mario Odessy prove you wrong. Spider man is the next big Sony title.

Reading this after the announcement of TLOU1 selling 17 million units is hilarious

Is this satire, are first-party games not games?

Huh?

Yeah, you're all right. However, in the context of my post, I was trying to say that exclusives are not the only things that matter. I was mainly replying to a post which I think is trying to say "only exlusives are games" argument. So I tried to strike a point with an equally ridiculous post.

Well, obviously I failed ha ha.

Hurts to see Gears 5 with such low numbers. Hopefully it can pick up steam closer to launch as it looks to have the potential to unseat Gears 3 as my favorite in the series.

Hopefully all those Fallout 76 means a huge player base at launch. Looking forward to it myself and my most anticipated game left this year.

I think if/when Gears 5 gets strong critical reception ot will pick up steam.

Damn, I am legit surprised at that Gears number. As someone who hasn't played the series in years, I thought more people still played. I thought that the trailer was the coolest thing Gears related I've seen in years though.

TLOU demo had everything. It had dancing! Kissing! Ashley Johnson! Stabbing! Hiding! Running! More stabbing!

I'm being severely reductive obviously, but I hope that other studios don't look at TLOU and get the wrong lessons.

I was not interested in Gears 4. I still haven't played it. I was interested in Gears 5. It looked like it would be adequately different or at least more compelling.

I used the top trailer as opposed to calculating each trailer without realizing youtube had an aggregate of all trailers. And while that aggregate is obviously more precise and more inclusive, I think it's very important to note that the method posted above follows the exact same trend as youtube's aggregate calculator.

The total aggregate of these trailers and a more thorough analysis of all E3 trailers can be found Here:http://vizioneck.com/forum/index.php?topic=6396.0 and in the Era thread by Mark Armburst here:https://www.resetera.com/threads/e3-2018-trailers-youtube-views-statistics.48342/

Just a clarification but I'm not affiliated with Youtube. The aggregate calculator is something I made myself.

Also my name is Mike :)

Well, actually, people play games, not exclusives.
Nobody will care about exclusives when Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 come out.
What they will care then is which machine has the best performance per dollar on these games.
Everybody will care about games AND exclusives. What they will care then is which machine they'll have the most games on.

Gears is really feeling its age right now. The gameplay has stayed relatively the same over the years.

The bulky men with a shotgun and shaking camera cover shooter is no longer appealing. It still has a loyal fan base but the number isn't there and Gears 5 really needs to step up in sales.

TLOU2 and Cyberpunk's views are crazy impressive. Those games are going to be huge.

And was going to say hey where's RE2, but that two vids are (somewhat surprisingly) only at 1m and 1.2m :/

I'm not too surprised by TLoU2 having more views than Halo, TLoU and Naughty Dog kinda took off and got more and more popular while Halo was cooling off and becoming less relevant in the past few years

Biggest surprise is tsushima. First two videos are at 3 mn and 1.7mn. Sucker punch arent exactly the biggest name.

State of gears is really sad.

I think Spider-Man should be way higher considering what trailers have done in the past.
They might be missing the comics yt channels?

I think it's right and here's why:

2 videos basically in the Top 30. The showcase and open world videos combine for 6.5 million views (combined #5) - with super high L/D ratio.

Plus, there's a metric ton of offsceeen footage out there. I saw a video that solely showed the world from the top of the Empire State Building and it had 250k views.

I'll pull numbers next week but across all platforms and all E3 2018 Spidey videos, the view count will be just as staggering as last year's.

I just can't being to fathom how big Spiderman is going to be. This feels like Batman Akham Asylum, but somehow bigger despite being only on a single platform.

10 million by the end of the year? GOW should reach 10 million by the end of the year too

They could both reach 20 million before their sequels are out.

MS needs to move on from Gears. 8 games stretched 2 gens is ridiculous. I haven't touched it since 3. I've heard mixed/good things about the rest but nothing groundbreaking. Halo is a mixed bag. Still sells and reviews wells, but again, there's no magic there. Both of them could definitely use that God of War reboot treatment.

And with all respect to their new teams, none of them really hold a candle to Sony's top teams. Hopefully they start branching out on new IP's ASAP, because they are going to need it if they want to stay competitive next gen.

Only if it scores well, if it comes out with some insomniac jank and scores 70 then welp.

Surprised GoT and Death Stranding overtook Halo Infinite, then again, Horizon Zero Dawn sold what, 7.6m as of Feb? That's pretty insane when you think about it. Perhaps GoT and Death Stranding could have similar success.

Awesome to see DMC5 that high on the list, looks like the thirst for that game wasn't just limited to core gaming forums.

To be fair, Gears 4 also had very low view counts across the board - yet its sales were not as proportionally bad as the youtube views indicate.

Not to say it sold great, it didn't - but for some reason Gears just do not draw high levels of interest and awareness of the YouTube platform.

P.S. I'm not counting the Gears 4 ad which they ran - that one was ad-inflated like crazy.

Sign of a dying franchise. They better give Gears 4-5 years break and come with up something fresh. They giving all the time but not Gears. Gears every 2 years plus spin offs.

I think gears 5 is going to be a turnaround. It sounds really good from what I'm hearing.

I would expect Sony games to have more views when you have over twice the install base.

Microsoft probably paid a fair emount buying the IP off of Epic, so they're only trying to get their investment back, which for all we know they may or may not have with Gears 4 already.

In any case, I agree that unless they're going to radically reboot the franchise, they should give it a temporary rest and Coalition should instead get back to this.

Poor gears. Once you were a strong, great franchise. Now you're struggling to hit 500k views.

At least halo has a decent number. I'd be worried if it's didn't. Infinite looks just what the series needed to get back on track.

Cyberpunk, fallout both are running ads I think, hence the massive increase in views so suddenly. TLoU is the winner in my opinion. No ads, most likes, above 9 million views.

Touché, but Elder Scrolls is on sort of a different playing field from Halo at this point. Plus, people are scouring that thing for any hint of where the location is. I meant mostly in comparison to Ghost or Death Stranding. It isn't surprising those are passing it over time.

I feel you.. I understand what you are talking about.

Source?

Graphs from the other thread of Cyberpunk's views are very gradual and doesn't feature abrupt spikes like games that had ads.

I follow the views regularly and it stay a long time just under 8 millions views for Cyberpunk and it had a big spike after this. Same thing for Fallout 76 which was behind TLOU 2 before the spike. And the likes go from 280k to only 303k despite the spike of view for Cyberpunk.

Oh that's true. TLOU II looked like it had a chance to catch up but Cyberpunk suddenly increased its lead by a couple million.
