I can see what A|V is talking about with Clair/Melba. A hard character to get to work on a visual medium, since so much of her storyline is internal monologue.

This show is so good that it's getting harder waiting a week for the next episode immediately after this one airs!

Do we get all the episodes at once with Amazon Prime like Netflix or is that a weekly business as well?

Canada
I hope we find out sooner than later how the amazon "save" is gonna work.
Is every region going to be prime, or will Space in Canada still get it?

Goddamn, that ending! Fucking lol at the guy throwing the grenade immediately after seeing what happens to bullets. A sound plan, alright.

What the hell did Holden see when he put his hand in that thing? Was that the protomolocule infecting the sun and then making it explode? Is he seeing the future or a potential one or what? Or maybe the distant past when the protomolocule was created? Non-book reader here (no future spoilers) and I'm highly confused.

I guess we'll find out eventually.

So around 1.400.000 km in diameter. Considering the speed limit of 600 km/s Holden should not be worried about reaching the other side too soon, it would take 27 days to travel across.

Edited: by the way, if Hub Station is on the center of the Dandelion Sky it would take at least 13 days for Holden to reach it. How it is addressed on the books?

You know, thinking about it I don't believe they ever mention running into the sides in the book. It's not a concern for them as far as I remember. Also they're inside there longer in the book so that accounts for the long travel times. Seems like a TV sacrifice.

Well, it seems it was a TV dialog which purpose was to better explain the Dandelion Sky to the audience, since it is difficult to do in video than in words as the books.

But that and the lack of time passing in the series (looks like just a few hours was passed) seems an overlook on how much time is needed to travel to Hub Station while in the slow zone. In a series famous for its hard science it seems an odd handling of events.

No, she fired

Not entirely sure the book fully went into what it was doing. Best guess, defensive countermeasure, from having multiple "too fast" objects, inside the station.
I thought in the book some kind of "mechs" spawned? I don't remember it very well.

I think the episode was good, but some of the cgi is really poor. I hope the show gets a higher budget on amazon. Everything in the ring just doesn't look as mindblowing as it should.

The Martians had just fired on Holden, and realizing that wasn't going to work, they moved towards him with plans to subdue him physically. They then got startled by this mech thing, that started moving towards them. Some of them shot at it, with the same results as before. Then one opened up a grenade launcher and fired. After it exploded on the mech, the shooter got taken apart, and more mechs started appearing around them. But they didn't go towards the Martians/Holden, they went to the "carcass" of the 1st mech, and ripped it apart. Afterwards, they gathered in the spot of where the blast happened, and liquefied themselves, along with the remnants of the soldier and the first mech.

Huh. I prefer the telly version.

Yeah, Bobbie wasn't there with the Martians, who also pretty much just opened fire on Holden right off the bat. They weren't really there to "stop/arrest him" like the show, but as a means to get back their ship.

How much murder teeth that girl have waiting in her head? lol
Waiting for them to get into what's going on inside her

She has manufactured glands in her, that secretes stuff, basically like Bane's Venom. The trick to "use/start it" is for her to "tongue a circle counterclockwise, twice" on the roof of her mouth. The show definitely makes it look like she's breaking open a tooth capsule, though.

Ahhh. Makes sense.
Though it's funny they're sill interested in getting their ship at this point. LOL.

They definitely are in pursuit over the bombing, but they're using that as a cover.

Bobbie doesn't seem to have gotten through with the book martians as much as the TV show martians.

Miller talkes about the mechs, before the Marines showed up. That they are "whatever they need to be"

Man that space station is just sublimely alien, it was so cool watching Holden jet through this thing that is clearly not built by humans and when the mech slowly unfolded from the wall, it was a pant shitting moment for viewers, I couldn't even imagine what that must be like in reality.

The protomolecule really likes to take stuff apart, I wonder if it would find a massive lego set the best thing in the universe. The Martians should have brought hundreds of those as gifts to show they are friendly.

YES.

This is some Book stuff. But also just a really long sneak peak (over 3 minutes)

I really appreciate the Game of Thrones threads keeping book readers and non-book readers separate. Pretty annoying filtering through most posts with "book spoilers" sections in it, and half of the non-spoilerized posts here obviously having book context in it.

Ugh, guess I'll just stay out of this thread from now on.

Yeah, if people could stick to book references/alterations only to currently aired material or implications thereof when it comes to spoiler-text posts it would be much appreciated.

There's not enough posters here to do that for this series, it's barely enough now. But I'll hold back on talking about the books.

If people actually stick to spoilering book talk, fine, but as someone who's not familiar with the books there are an awful lot of references on this page and last page which seem to be obviously referencing books. Just obnoxious.

Started reading the first book today, excited to see all the little differences between the two.

Oh yeah, this episode fucking fantastic once again. Season 3 has been so goddamn good.

Holy shit, dat ending ! That's exactly how I imagine having a revelation about the sense of life! Is that a multiverse ? Or several protomolecule stations ?

Look at it again, it is showing events in reverse. It didnt "shoot" the sun but it sucked away all the matter. I have to rewatch that scene again.

We're at a point where it was explained clearly what he saw in the books, but they'll probably need to do it through some clunky exposition that wasn't in there for the TV series. I will say it's really fucking neat and scary.

I know this is cliche, but I was super super fucking high when I was finishing this episode, and I was not prepared for that last minute.

I miss Averasala :( I think she's just been in that 1 televised speech scene since the adaptation of the third book started. Does she completely sit out the third book as well? Please tell me she comes back!

Does she come back into it at some point?

Her book 3 plot (a political one) appears to have been cut so they could finish book 3 within S3 and because it would have caused pacing problems.

I haven't read book 3 but got accidentally spoiled on wiki and the missing plot is...
that the former Sec-General doesn't resign, and she backs his opponent behind the scenes to get his trash ass out. Which seems like it would be terrible on screen.

Just finished episode 10. Holy shit. I need more now. So glad I'll be able to binge future seasons. Speaking of future seasons, how many books are there? This is one of my favorite shows and I don't ever want it to end.

Got huge vibes of Shepard touching the prothean beacon at the end of the episode there.

The Reapers are coming.

Eh did any other book fans think the ending was underwhelming?

I always pictured it as more of a 2001 type experience. Wish they would have gone full legion and dedicated like half an episode to it or something. I understand they couldn't due to budget and pacing constraints, but man that was a cool segment in the book.
