Look Alive is going to end up being the best Drake song this year, dunno how he'll top that.

I really like Duppy Freestyle though.

You listen to that Lojii - lofeye? Seems like something you'll dig. A bit more downtempo

i didn't know Hit-boy released a new tape. Haven't heard from him in a minutes

Sounds super familiar but not sure, somehow it's already on my computer so I can listen today

You ever listen to this?

https://soundcloud.com/loudcrewrecords/sets/perpetuallyawake

I actually found it searching BIll $aber on Soundcloud.
This is dope, good looks
I see you Des, Nick is that dude.

Everyone really should check out Generation Numb though, one of the hardest tapes of the last 50 years. Production is off the charts
It's pretty hard, you should check out the OmenXIII album on my list just seems like it'd be something you'd like.

been meaning to get around to this, how does it compare to If There's a Hell Below? (which I enjoyed)
Yeah it might be slightly stronger overall actually

I agree, Drake actually out rapped Pusha imo head to head on diss tracks, his flow is tight and his lines are more clever though obviously less savage which is what everyone seems to be clamoring for these days.

There's something so boring about her music to me. She has a great voice for sure, but.. I dunno.

Agreed on all accounts.

I like my disses with a certain level of subtlety and wordplay, not really with the "YOU ARE HIDING A CHILD" level of explicitness and even saying Drake's name explicitly either TBH. Clever metaphors are better than that.

Yeeah, same here. I don't know what it's called, but it's that kind of singing style and inflection that so many of these new singers have that's so annoying to me. Maybe someone here knows what I mean.

I'm a huge D'Angelo/Badu/Soulquarians stan, so yeah, lol. What I heard from Jorja is absolutely not on that level, but maybe I heard the wrong examples. You can link me some good ones if you like. Maybe I also just don't like her pressed voice.
Her voice seems very influenced by it but taken to the extreme. Reminds me closer to someone like N'Dambi But even she didn't use those kinda inflections in voice that often outside of a song like this

Some of these choruses/refrains on KSG are just too good to deny. Shit really makes you have an out of body experience. It really is Cudi in his prime, true man on the moon shit.

Drake's got some of the best shit talking, TBH. He's always got shit talking on deck because everyone is constantly coming at him for the entirety of his career. It's why I love 5AM in Toronto so much.

You underestimated greatly
Most number ones ever, how long did it really take me?
The part I love most is they need me more than they hate me
So they never take shots, I got everybody on safety
I could load every gun with bullets that fire backwards
You probably wouldn't lose a single rapper
N***as make threats, can't hear 'em over the laughter!

I mean, where you think she at when she ain't with ya?
Wildin', doin' shit that's way out of your budget
Owl sweaters inside her luggage, you gotta love it
Damn, this shit could go on a tape
Bitches lovin' my drive, I never give it a break
Give these n***as the look, the verse, and even the hook
That's why every song sound like Drake featurin' Drake

I ain't lyin', my n***a, my time is money
That's why I ain't got time for a n***a whose time is coming

Boy, we do this shit for real
All them boys in my will, all them boys is my Wills
Anything happen to pop, then I got you like Uncle Phil
Weezy been on that edge, you n***as just need to chill
If anything happen to Papi, might pop a n***a for real

N***as treat me like I've been here for 10
Some n***as been here for a couple, never been here again

Man I've been saying this from the beginning.

That shit was terrible; he might as well have just tweeted the TMZ level rumor because the song had no cleverness or flow to it.

But...there's plenty of subtle stuff in that diss, alongside the more obvious shots...

Drake is always great at presentation but it cracks me up how anyone can talk about him out rapping anyone when he raps the same flow on every "rappity rap" track he does, and has ghostwriters. Can anyone point to a single body blow landed on Pusha T in his diss? "You're not even top five on your own label" sounds nice to the layman but...does anyone believe that? The bars about running behind a younger artist would be a lot more potent if Pusha wasn't, you know, the president of GOOD Music. The best parts of the song were all aimed at Kanye; I'm not saying he shouldn't have attacked Kanye, but you can't release a Pusha diss record and not effectively diss Pusha. That's not how this works...

Meanwhile Pusha straight up embarrassed Drake and exposed his fake persona on two fronts (the nice guy ladies man, and the bearded tough guy who is about the smoke). And what has tough guy Drake's response been so far? An IG statement, allegedly offering 100k for dirt on Pusha, and crying to his daddy/benefactor J Prince. He lost. The end.

Really going to say Drake raps the same flow in a conversation about him and Pusha T?

I can't listen to more than 3 Pusha songs because his rapping is so samey and not particularly enjoyable; of course Drake is the same, I rarely listen to any of his rappity rap songs as you say but I'd say Pusha is even worse.

We're not arguing who's track did the most damage or was the most effective in the public sphere but rather how each one sounds... Pusha bars are cringey and lame

The SOPHIE track you posted a few weeks ago has been stuck in my head, btw.

Wasn't SOPHIE the one who brought out an "imposter" to perform her Boiler Room mix with HudMo yeeears ago or am I mixing up something?

Oof, that's a banger. All I can think about is what rapper could hop on that beat and just kill it. The S-Type tracks have been really good, and I'm surprised he's been doing this for 19 weeks straight now. His vault must be relatively huge considering he hasn't put out a full LP ever.

Also, yup, SOPHIE did that. Her new album releases tomorrow, and that takes precedence over the Nas album for me.

Anyone near Chicago? Pitchfork Music Fest tickets on Gilt City for like 20% off. That's sorta crazy and shows how much the festival scene seems to be on the downswing. That thing used to sell out 3 days so quickly. Hell even Outsidelands still got 3 days and 1 day passes for every single day.

I think the Drake and Pusha tracks are polar opposites of one another.

Duppy Freestyle is a great track with great rapping (on every level) on display, and the disses are almost completely hollow or don't make sense at all (that Virgil shot especially is dafuq worthy), no matter who they're directed at. Also that Boi-1da beat whew.

The Story of Adinon is grating to listen to, flow is so much worse, but he went straight for the jugular and cut deep, backed it up, and had PUSHA'S team call for a ceasefire and mercy for Drake, which then J Prince used as an opportunity to take credit for ending the beef, making an "OG move," and also getting a press tour for his book out of it.

Suffice to say, only one of those is in my library, even if he lost badly and we all know it. I thought this would be like Back to Back again where the better track won (where, again, Drake had pretty much nothing to say and like this time failed to really rebut the allegations adequately as is a pattern in his career), but it just turns out that the #surgical approach like PhoenixDark described is what won the day. We're just comparing tracks like HiResDes said, not outcome or impact, which is clear at this point.

Ok. While I disagree I can see your argument now. Kinda harkens back to the "Ether is the better diss, Takeover is the better song" arguments that pop up every now and then.

"You're not even top five on your own label" sounds nice to the layman but...does anyone believe that?

Do you really believe the intent behind that line was to give an accurate description of talent levels over at GOOD, lmao

Ultimately Pusha won, but I vastly prefer the Drake song because it still works as a song. Story Of Adidon was like two listens and me going "wow he really said that", and that's it, and I assume that most people went through this whole episode the same way

While I love the Jay & Silent Bob cameo, the problem with the I'm Upset video is that it's an I'm Upset video, a song that should have been burried and forgotten, but Drake gonna Drake I guess.

Scorpion 2/3 for me now and that album better be so good that it makes me wanna have a secret child in the summer tbh

I came back home and saw that it was changed by a mod who has no clue about rap and changed it back to the original title because moderation should not stand between you and your pettiness caused by FFZ's freakshow of a Kanye thread

zlwkeirqgq5y.png
(also, we allowed members to have fun in that Ye thread so why not the same with the Drake one)

Also, great to see a bunch of other Ye stans in that thread, I hope they will finally get good music

If I had a choice yea, obviously small is the best way to see any artist. Festival is more about seeing like 20 people you been wanting to see plus being outside surrounded by ass and a fun excuse to get super faded. The lineup is heat. It's not like you'd ever be able to see Lauryn Hill in a bar anymore.

EDIT: and for what it's worth Pitchfork Music Festival is probably the "smallest" feeling festival I've been too.

Lauryn Hill isn't worth seeing regardless. She's one of the worst performers I've seen by far unless she's recently cleaned up her act

It was an example. You aren't seeing Tame Impala in a small show either. Look at the lineup it's fire. If you live in Chicago anywhere near a train station it's the cheapest 3 days of entertainment in the middle of summer you can get.

Just looked it up. It is pretty good line up especially with 20% off. They have Raphael Saadiq performing too damn
