Voice chat via headphone jack and Nintendo doesn't even do that for their own games...

Played one match and it seemed solid from my experience, didn't encounter more than two other players at a time though.

Portable mode btw, didn't look native res, but not demonstrably worse.

Got second place.

Runs at 30 but framepacing is perfect. Runs a hell of a lot better than mobile.

Downloaded and played a couple of games with my bro. It was real easy to add each other and hop into the game. This is gon be a time sink.

Not sure how I'll feel about going back to 30 FPS but will have to test.

Just dropped $15 into the game already and my brother shaking his head. I missed it, is the mic support already in the game? Cause that'll be dope as hell.

Is there really no tutorial? I watched the Treehouse so I got a little bit more information, but it's still hard to get used to it when you just get killed every time you meet someone.

Second in my second round. Considering I didn't figure out how to zoom on a sniper rifle until halfway through the second match. . . thats not too bad.

I'm inclined to stop while I'm ahead.

Is there a sandbox mode where you can get used to the controls?

I don't think there's a tutorial mode but if you're just starting out with this then i would recommend starting with the 50 v 50 mode. That way you're not just dying because you spawn near your teammates. And it gives you plenty of time just to mess around and get used to the game.

The best tutorial for Fortnite is to land in the most populated areas (Tilted Towers, Dusty Divot, Pleasant Park). You'll be fighting with other players almost immediately and you'll be forced to learn the game's mechanics in a heated situation. Fortnite isn't really a game that can be tutorialised, really, it's more a game that requires practice over simple knowledge of how everything works.

They talked about adding more features to the switch version in the future, such as doing something with the touch screen while playing on handheld mode, but they just wanted to focus on game performance for launch. Maybe they'll add it in the future?
It's a must have tbh. Gyro aiming is 100x better than control stick.

Any chance Switch will eventually get Save the World? I'd rather play that than BR.

game runs better in handheld mode on the switch than PUBG runs on a one x
That's the benefit of having the engine makers in-house. If it's not running well enough, just send a quick e-mail/message for help. No matter how good Epic's support is, it's never going to be as efficient as having somebody in-studio who knows who to ask and how to ask. With that said, it's always cool to see low-level efficiency get the most out of a platform.

there's definitely some dynamic resolution trickery going on in handheld mode to keep the framerate high - it was noticeably fuzzy on the spawn island with a bunch of players running around but looked super smooth (like, native res + AA smooth) when i was just alone looting a house.

this was in handheld mode

Thank you. I'm really bad at stick aiming. Hope they add it later.

Ok, I played four matches, two handheld, two docked. Killed about 10 people and hit Top 5 all matches. Lots of newbiews. :P

Coming from PS4, this is a big downgrade, I was expecting the Switch version to hold up a lot better.

It's still playable and super fun, those who can only play on Switch should still download and jump in!

Graphic downgrade did have an impact on gameplay though. You can barely see people jumping off the bus, in one of my matches a guy landed next to me and I didn't even see him coming. At another match, a guy was hidden between wooden walls and I couldn't tell there was a player in there, resolution didn't help. Snipers be warned too, your targets are likely to teleport. :(

I'll keep playing on Switch cause it's easier for me, but I'm defo hoping for update patches. Knowing that voice chat is coming up is good news for future support!

That's a fair assessment. Let's hope for patches to improve the performance and graphics.
