Interesting detail: Not all shots are featuring Sam!

There seems to be at least one other character traversing the landscape, as seen in this shot. His hair and face look quite different. Also, he seems to work for BRIDGES, as seen in the second shot.

Also, It seems that different porters wear different outfits. Maybe to signify the load they're carrying? The person carrying the corpse has a distinctly different outfit, but also works for BRIDGES. Maybe another character?

Here's Sam's character BTW, again with a distinctly different outfit that says PORTER. I guess it could mean that his class is unique to these other individuals, or maybe he works for himself, and his company is simply called Porter....

It's still Sam, he just has his hair up in a ponytail.

Oh no, its just FRAGILE, part of it is covered by a holder of sorts. SO THIRSTY FOR DETAILS GUYS, CAN YOU TELL?

Right, that's how he looks in the photograph as well. The woman at the end (that he doesn't remember) is beside him, and the younger woman with her face smudged our could be his realities version of the Fragile express girl.

it has some kind of "entheogenic" vibe going on...i have a feeling this game will push peoples minds to subjects they never even thought of, like some psychedelic substance. It´s some sort of digital trip lol

I didn't get this from it at all. Seems to me Sam is a courier and the packages are all individual jobs. The woman is possibly employed exclusively to transport fragile goods.

This game is going to be very weird... And I am excited.

Why is nobody talking about Norman carrying the corpse!?
27875493297_1743823a0f_k.jpg
The second trailer showed some aspects of this. Norman and his fetus tries to go to a dead person in a bag but before he reaches it the ghosts seems to take over it. It seems that doing something with the bodies of humans is an important mechanic somehow.

While I think there's guns, I don't think the purpose of the game will be shooting monsters and shit. Seems like a last resort thing to fend them off.

Yeah Kojima tweeted out that he made a conscious effort to do a trailer without a gunfight. Considering the MGS series and it's relationship with guns, I wouldn't be surprised if this took one step further and made them almost an afterthought. And I like that a lot.

I mean you see him inside a building near the end of the trailer. If they can protect themselves from the rain using hazmat suits then it makes sense to assume it doesn't affect inorganic materials and as such infrastructure would be unaffected.
but craters caused by being consumed by those big fuckers does affect it quite drasticly, I can even imagine this was all populated earth and the craters due to rapture scaping of the earth trough timefall caused it to cover with plant life etc. the only reason the earth doesn't seem affected is that ground takes way longer to change. it might be equally affected. Thats why most is made of plastic and metals that degrades slowly

Hey man, some people like to make simple mobile shovelware and some people want to push bounderies, isn't it amazing how the industry is big enough to support all?
This is a fucked up post, and it's a personal attack on the work quality of one our verified members. This is the kind of behavior that would draw developers away from this community, and frankly it's immature and cruel to attack other members for their professional work. He just has a different opinion than you, there was no need for your asinine snark. I think the game looks amazing too, he doesn't, and I don't really care, it doesn't make his work of lesser significance. Grow up/get some class.

Looked super intriguing and the visuals were fantastic (like all four first-party games they showed). Really curious how unique the gameplay will be.

It's not like that generic mobile shovelware dev has any class calling another dev's work pretentious.

So from what we can gather it's a stealth exploration / survival game with some kind of combat system. The vague objective is to traverse Scandinavian highlands to obtain stuff, that stuff including resources and bodies. Exploration includes complex terrain navigation thus using tools when necessary, eg rappel up mountains and use artificial bridges to cross ravines. Transporting items/goods is done in real time and there appears to be various ways to accumulate and carry more goods, either on the player avatar or via assistance (like transport trollies). Scavenged goods can be dropped if the player makes a mistake, such as getting caught in a rapids. Navigation also may include vehicles, such as what looks like a futuristic motorbike, and standard vehicles in the previous trailers.
Something has happened in the game world, such as the invasion of some creature(s), that have disrupted the link between life and death and passage of time. The world has been disrupted, natural order of the oceans and living creatures disjointed, such as causing whales to beach. These creatures appear as invisible or phasing ethereal beings linked to something via ghostly umbilical cords, and prey on the living. Their contact with objects speeds up time, such as causing a person to rapidly age or plants to rapidly grow and/or die. Of note is rain, as when it rains this seems to trigger the appearance of these beings.
Scavengers have access to various tools and equipment that allow them detect the unseen creatures. The key tool is a mechanical light flower linked to a baby in an artificial womb. The babies appear to have a natural intuition and sense for these beings, and when linked to these lights allow said lights to point at, flash, and respond to the presence of invisible threats. Staying silent and showing no sign of movement is the best means of avoiding these creatures.
The protagonist, Sam, seems to have the embodiment of one of these babies existing within him. This differs him from others as while they are reliant on tools, Sam can naturally "sense" them, and when using the tool have a better approximation of their location.
Being caught and consumed by one of these creatures has an unspecified impact on the living, perhaps tethering to the world in ethereal form transformed into another threat. Sam's unique abilities prevent him from ever actually "dying". When captured by the beings Sam will "revive" back into the world, coughs up unusual insects also seen being eaten by another character, but a cataclysmic event will occur leaving a crater at the location of capture. Thus Sam appears to not only have an intuition in detecting the presence of these creatures, but also seems to subvert their unusual engagement with the passage of time, breaking the life/death cycle and tethering to an undead ethereal world. Other individuals who do not have this ability appear to prefer death at their own hands or others than get captured.
There appear to be numerous organisations involved in the scavenging of these lands. Among them include BRIDGES and FRAGILE. Their purpose and affiliations are unknown. Seydoux's character works for FRAGILE, and appears to wear a suit that responds with physical alterations to the presence of the beings. Mikkelsen's character wears military attire, and seems to have some kind of artificial emulation of abilities similar to that of the beings, able to utilise the tethering of life/death and unusual manipulation of beings (eg: reviving the dead).
I'm down for all of this god damn it.

I hope there are some crazy boss battles though that are super unique in how they play out and use the gameplay systems to the fullest. Its something I always loved in Kojima's games.

Give me a MGS3 the end tier boss fight and I will be happy!

I love Kojima, even when he's being pedantic but even my patience has it's limits. I needed something more from this, instead we got more questions.
I don't want everything laid out in front of me, I don't care if it's a lie like MGS2 pre-launch was. Just give us something about the world, or the characters.
We didn't even get an idea of a date, a year even. I'm done being hype for this until it's dated I think.

So, why Lindsey Wagner? I'm old enough to remember the Bionic Woman on TV. Is it some wish that Kojima had to work with her? A fan of the show? It's actually created a weird connection for me and my childhood. Confusing as hell but that's a good thing. But the last thing I want is to look at something and go "Yep, I know all that".

There's a theory that the characters in the game are the actual actors themselves. Kojima even mentioned in the interview with Geoff that noone could play Linsays' character except her and he said the same for Lea Seydoyx. Also Norman Reedus had mentioned in the past I think that the players are literally controlling him.

I don't know what is the importance of the actors being themselves in the context of the game, but it seems like this is the case

PS: Personal speculation that they might play with the Timefall thing and use both Lindsays current version and her younger self

I wonder what a role body contact plays in this game; Sam has handprints all over his body and the antagonists leave handprints as well. Do you gain a handprint on your body each time you get touched and die? Also, Lea Seydoux' character has a suit that has spikes on the shoulders and I wonder if that is some form of defense mechanism. We also learn that Sam's full name is Sam Porter Bridges - Wikipedia says the following about Porter: "The name originates as an Old French occupational name, portier (gatekeeper; doorkeeper), or porteour ("to carry")."

Lea Seydoux mentions that the rain - timefall - pushes everything fast-forward, which we can confirm considering in a previous trailer a guy aged incredibly fast when he got exposed to the timefall.

Then there is the dialogue between Sam and this unknown person over radio:

"If one of these things eat you, it will trigger a voidout. You'll come back, sure, but the surrounding area will still be a crater"

So does that imply that the baby you are carrying around is.. a clone of yourself? One that when exposed to the timefall becomes an adult version of yourself? Does that mean that the guy who handed Sam a baby before floating up gave him a copy of himself because he knew he might come back with the help of Sam? And this also means that using the baby for your light-detector-thingy is not the intended primary function of those babys. Plus this also explains why there was a giant crater at the end of the last trailer - a voidout happened and Sam came back, yet the surrounding area became a crater.

This is just me speculating of course, but yeah: this game might look weird, and bizarre right next to other AAA games, but a lot of it is also very intriguing and makes me think a lot more than let's say Tsushima does

I suspect those scandinavian highlands is not limited to scandinavian. its just those are the locations on earth that look most like primordial earth with no influence of plant/human life. I suspect most life has been wiped out due to timefall. timefall affects everything, including ground, buildings, but since the lifespan of a building is way longer than for example a tree it ages and "dies" slower than for example plants or humans. I think what we see is the earth affected by timefall. barely anything survives after timefall and the craters from being eaten by those huge things. plants grow and die instantly

what I mean is, even tho kojima captured that look doesnt mean it takes place there, its just the place that would resemble earth most after timefall

I see.
Also, I don't understand why their suits have hoodies and not helmets like hazmat suits. It exposes their face to the rain easily.

I don't think it's the plot that most people are mad about, that's fine actually. What most are upset and confused about is the gameplay loop.. like what's the catch? Why is this game fun? Not the story. People accept any batshit insane story from Kojima as long as it's fun to play, but we don't know the loop that's the vague part.

I might be wrong but

Doesn't it sound like him when he's practically crawling up the mountain though? If you look closely during the toenail removal scene you can see that this is Sam with his hair pulled back and no beard. So either a different Sam or him from a different point.

This is also the am that takes out the gun from one of the containers.

So, I was watching the trailer again and the scene where Sam is walking in the water and then falls made me wonder. What if there is some kind of exhaustion level in the game that needs to be managed in order to avoid collapsing? A system like that would probably make the encounters with those ghosts pretty thrilling and would add a lot of strategy to the exploration, too
