I could not get over the visuals of this. Truly unbelievable. The animations of everything were beyond anything I've ever seen in games.

This is MY most anticipated game... everything looked and felt top notch like the usual from ND.

Looks like Ellie will lose another love and that will push her even deeper in the darkness :-(

As for the LGBT kiss.. like I didn't have enough reasons to call ND my favorite developers :-)

Also finally a real realistic kissing animations.. what a milestone XD

So will Joel be the more grounded, humane presence this time round?

I think there's something wrong with Joel. They're hiding him too much. Yeah, we saw him in the initial teaser, but they made sure to obscure his face. We know he's still alive now, but I definitely get the feeling that he may be disfigured or something like that.

Couldn't she have just borrowed the watch?

TLoU is one of my favorite games of all time, and to be honest coming in to this E3 I just wasn't feeling the sequel. This presentation completely changed my mind. The tension and brutality was palpable, and the way it was presented between genuinely happy moments was darkly beautiful.

I'm now fully on board for TLoU2.

I'm sure it's been mentioned a billion times by now, but I was really annoyed that we saw the same female enemy model 3 separate times.
Didn't they say they couldn't include female models due to RAM limits for the first game? what's the excuse this time lol
But im sure it's just an early version, so they are reusing content at the moment.

I don't understand the "scripted" criticisms - why wouldn't they show the tightest possible representation of the game? They did the same thing with the "hotel" demo for the first game and that level still played out very similarly in the actual game. It's like people have never seen an early game demo before.
I think it's fair to criticize ND for showing something that is very obviously highly massaged and not truly indicative of the game. Nothing about it looked like "natural" play to me. As you said, they did the same thing with the first game. That's not a good thing. I played TLOU1 four times from start to finish, never got that experience. Fair to say some people aren't gonna fall for it again.

Guys Disney didn't fucking censor an LGBT kiss. They literally showed the kiss, the next ten seconds Ellie was about to have a shank in a guys throat in close up.

It was a poorly executed showing of an adult rated conference on a channel designed for kids ages 5-13

I'm trying to find a video, but one of the comments said they replayed trailers later and they blurred, Ghosts of Tsushima style, out both the kiss and the gameplay in TLOU2. That's just a random youtube comment don't have any video evidence.

About the kiss, I was actually hoping Ellie would be shown having settled down at the beginning of the game, with her own girlfriend and social circle, I remember talking about that in the old place, so very happy to see it being true.

Too bad it looks like her girlfriend is just her inciting incident, though, haha.

The game looks great, but I'm hesitant to believe that the final build's gameplay will be anywhere as smooth and organic as this. Not with what happened with TLOU1's gameplay trailer. They need to show me it's real this time.

Makes sense, she could also be kidnapped by this cult or something but I'm betting she's dead too.

I'll play devil's advocate just to bring some hope that she's not dead or kidnapped (but in my mind she totally is), but we know Ellie goes out on patrols. What if there's a sweet moment where the girl gives Ellie her bracelet before she goes out and tells her to come back safe with it?

But didn't we see Joel in the reveal trailer?

The tone of this sequel has been really dark judging by all trailers. It's super impressive.

This game is going to have more tension than the last one.. and I barely survived the last one.

Combat looks freaking amazing. I hope the AI is really that good and the violence is perfect. Everything looks so deadly, even the gunshots wizzing past

The more I watch the gameplay demo the more ways I see that it has to be heavily scripted. I'm seeing way to many animations that seem bespoke, even down to the way the enemies go through a doorway.

I expect to see all those animation in the game.
In the same way just not for everything to go as smooth .
Unless you set it up that way by knowing where the AI going to go etc etc .

Still in awe over this.

I mean, games are looking amazing overall right now.

But this is on a level that is just incredible.

I can't even fathom what Naughty Dog will do with next gen hardware. Hopefully TLoU2 gets an 8K 60FPS Remaster.(or just a BC patch that enables this)

They literally showed dudes getting dismembered in Tsushima. Stop trying to deflect criticism here.

Yes and they tried to censor that as well via extremely horribly timed blur effects that took up the entire screen.

Occam's razor basically dictates that they were live cutting the conference to try and splice out the insane violence.

Misinformation being thrown around here. Thankfully I had the channel on my TV as it aired live

They showed the kiss but immediately cut the feed of the showcase afterwards to not show the violence and swearing. They decided to show off other stuff while the trailer was still going on. When they return to the showcase, they return to the end of the trailer that shows the kiss again.

As for Ghosts of Tsushima, they blurred out the violent deaths and muted the swearing. There were a few deaths at the tail end of the trailer that wasn't blurred.

And they obviously blurred out the death of that cop in the REmake 2 trailer.

They did this for some of the violence. Not everything, mind you.

There literally isn't any blame to deflect, they weren't trying to censor a gay kiss.

Oh god, people are only gonna talk about the kiss, aren't they?

Gameplay looks great as usual for a ND game. Looking forward to it.

Once again ND shows why they're the best in the business. Game of E3 right here.

The animation blending. The sandbox gameplay. The enemy behavior. The contextual combat. The level design. The visuals.

What an eminently satisfying demo.

It would be embarrassing as fuck if this game is LGBT positive as it looks to be then they go with the old shitty trope of killing off her potential lover.

It's crazy how head and shoulders above ND is compared to most companies out there. Watching Tsushima afterwards, I almost felt a little sorry for SP for having to follow that. Their animations aren't even in the same league. Still intrigued by that and Death Stranding. Day one for this and Spider-Man without hesitation.

Sure that is indeed a possibility. But people are just jumping to conclusions.
That girl is getting fridged, as the kids say. The first teaser telegraphs it. "I'm gonna kill every last one of them", that's now obviously referring to the cultists.

p.s. still on team DeadJoel.

I'm not entirely sold on this yet. I just played the first title once and when it launched. I have been apprehensive to return to it and still haven't really played the DLC.

I didn't liked the scripted gameplay. It's usual for E3, but not something that gives me hype anymore.
And I would have like to see another scenario that isn't just kill another enemy camp.

So I just got around to watching this in it's entirety. I'm speaking as someone who still currently is trying to finish the first game, and is not nearly as enamored with it as everyone else is...

This showing was fucking PHENOMENAL. The dance scene was perfect, the animations in battle are jaw dropping, and the gameplay looks SO MUCH BETTER than TLOU1.

I was worried that not finishing the first game would make it so that I wouldn't understand this reveal and not be into it. The complete opposite happened. This might give me the final push to finally finish the fucking first one so I can be ready for this when it hits.

The game is very well presented but it all seems too familiar.

I'm struggling to get excited for this, there needs to be something like an interesting new gameplay mechanic to get me on board.

I'm with you. So far they seem to play it very safe, like with the Uncharted series. I wish that they would make something less traditional for once.

Apparently Disney XD pulled it at the kiss.

Edit: not sure if due to technical issues or pulled due to upcoming content, but thought it was kinda strange.

Not too shocked, to be honest. I could see them censoring it even if it was a guy and a girl. I think it was less to do about it being a lesbian kiss and more to do with the fact that it crosses over into "making out" territory, and you can see tongue going into mouth. I'm not sure what Disney XD typically allows when it comes to that kind of thing, but tongue-in-mouth does seem a little off-brand for a Disney channel.

I wonder if they're upping the ante with the survival aspect and really limiting all the possible resources you can get in the game. Ellie ran out of her bullets and arrows fast in the demo.
