Sony E3 2018 Conference |OT|

6 out of 10 from me. I was not impressed with Last of Us 2 in what they showed, but I know the game is going to be good...that sequence was just not very good. Spiderman looked really good and that is the only thing that really stood out. Ghost animation was horrid, but I am sure they will fix that. Death Stranding was WTF? Outside of that and RE2 remake, not sure what they were thinking with this conference. I mean, it was not EA level of bad, but one of the worst Sony conferences in a while. Arrogant Sony? Not sure, but for me it was not a good conference. So the only they showed coming out this year is Spiderman?

Weird show. The showcase games looked incredible though.

Why do you think Days Gone wasn't one of their showcase games?

Oh my gosh, I absolutely loved that presentation, and I'm shocked at the backlash I'm seeing on here. The weird gap after TLOU2 was admittedly pretty weird, but otherwise that was FAR more solid than last year, and easily best of show in 2018 so far.

Microsoft went for quantity, but offered almost nothing surprising at all, besides maybe Halo Infinite. They've gone full eSports and don't care about story anymore, so a hard pass from me.

I hope this particular showcase that's somewhat content light indicates that we'll have a lot of content at the PSX?

I've yet to play any of their recently released exclusives that made me feel that way, so the idea that they'd start now is baffling.

Was that Dreams popping up throughout the conference? If so, what was the point in that if they didn't show us a trailer or anything?

Content was 7/10 - the deep dives were great imo and we got Nioh fucking 2, REmake 2, and Control. No massive surprises.

Pacing was garbage/10 - that transition was awkward. and I'd say it wasted so much time, but that was exactly the point. Hope they never do that shit again.

Microsoft's conference was better. Doesn't matter that it was 90% 3rd party.

It's weird to be weird. Works for movies, not games.

Weak. It felt like every game was playing itself, graphical stunners but the gameplay lags behind.

GoT looks amazing graphically but the gameplay looks EHHHHH
TLO2 Looks fine, but still felt like it was on autopilot, sucks I didn't get to see Joel.
Dont care about Spiderman.
Death Stranding looks like a hiking simulator.

A weak showing for all 4 games in my eyes.

Pretty obvious to me the conflict is Ellie is pissed something happen to that girl of hers...probably runs into mama Ellie, etc. Want them to spoil everything? The game will likely show more at Playstation Experience, then next year at E3 with a fall release.

Games were amazing, structure was off. Starting with the music is fine, during the switch to the 2nd room they shouldn't have had intermission, should've gone straight into the countdown recap, CODBLOPS, Destiny 2 and then the FromSoft VR. Skip the 2nd music act and then the rest is fine. Those changes for me would've made it 9-9.5/10.

Yeah, apart from that terrible hump at the start, this really isn't a bad show whatsoever. They just doubled down on quality rather than quantity. The only disappointment is that it's from stuff I already know about, but hey, I'm still being fed.


I think it's because many people were expecting more surprises. Although, I guess everyone always expects that at every E3.

When is Death Stranding or Ghosts coming out? Will they be cross plat? They seem far off. Ni Oh 2 seems like it will be fully next gen.

Probably the worst Sony press conference I can remember. The games are mostly strong. Only reveals were Nioh 2 and RE2 though. But the presentation of the actual conference... unbelievably bad.

If I was being kind, which I will be because everyone else has had a really decent E3 so far, I'd say that the key problem is Sony has started having to save stuff for the PS5 reveal, and the presentation issues just stemmed from that.

It's running on the guerilla games Horizon engine though.

So many people who own Xboxs here.. so easy to indentify them.. Games look AMAZING.. all of them period

Ghosts of Tsushima and TtLoU II look amazing but outside of that, this was a pretty underwhelming conference IMO. Very awkward and disjointed presentation on top of that.

I didn't like this year's format, could've been much better. Particularly interested in: The Last of Us Part II, Ghosts of Tsushima, Control, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Death Stranding. MS overall had a better conference.

It's on the Decima engine. There is no way it isn't an exclusive.

I'm more excited for the new Forza than anything else I've seen in the rest of E3 so far this year.

I think a new gen is on the horizon within the next 2-3 years. Sony and MS will be coming out swinging for launch imo. Those 5 studios MS acquired and Sony definitely has stuff going on. No way the don't.

Sooo... its time to stop buying games!? I feel we will get all those games better on ps5... like gta the last of us and assassins creed black fag... it really felt lime ps5 is almost here

Man, I am super disappointed. I thought TLOU2 looked great, but there's no way it looks like that on the PS4, right? That's next gen animation and fluidity? So I'm setting myself up for disappointment there.

Went into this conference with Death Stranding as my "number 1 with a bullet anticipated game" and came out with it maybe being outside of my top 5. Still have no idea what on earth it's about, what you do (other than walk), or when it's coming.

I think in sum, this show kind of reinforces my belief that the PS5 is next year, or at least a lot sooner than expected.

VR gets a montage 30 min after the conference. Guess that says a lot about what Sony thinks of it right now.

This is the kind of conference you have when you're nearing the end of the generation. PS5 blowout next year for sure.

It's crazy but in a year where I've got 2 action souls titles, a long awaited character action and a Samurai period cinematic game, I'm still going to say this is one of the worst E3s in years.

Sony just now showed a montage of some VR stuff.

They couldn't have done this during the conference?

Some people seem to value short snippets of cinematic trailers with little to no gameplay over actual longer gameplay demos. Different strokes for different folks. I think what Sony showed was exceptional, but the pacing was off due to the weird transition. It needed more content overall and less time wastage.

On sheer content. MS wins. Pacing was much better too. So far exclusive wise Sony showed out. Like you're only looking at games you'll be able to play on PS4.
