This looks really nice and everything, but I need to know how this game is structured.

Because structurally FH2 & 3 were complete misses for me.

Is one big Festival that you can see from all corners of the map and does this have a story?

There's been very few details on campaign but I imagine it'll be similar too FH2/3 tbh. They've had success with that formula.

but there is a "magic" in FH1 that 2&3 did not capture.

FH1 had a soul.

I agree with this. I can't put my finger on why FH2/3 doesn't have the same "magic". First one is still my favorite.

Do you guys think they chose Britain because they already had the AI drive in the left lane?

Sorry if that was discussed already but are bikes drivable? Because the end of the trailer threw me off and I had no time reading everything yet.

Was still some port and a crossgen game will always limit the newer one. Nothing wrong with it tho.

Not in this case.

FH2 on 360 was a straight up down port by Sumo Digital.

Playground was not limited by that at all. They made the game for the ONE and nothing else.

That´s why the 360 version was so drastically different.

That´s a bummer. I´m still getting it of course - because it looks insane,

but there is a "magic" in FH1 that 2&3 did not capture.

Check out this breakdown of the E3 trailer https://youtu.be/m4yMuJQTroA?t=24s, seems like FH1 progression is back, only in a more "broad" manner, since they mentioned that campaign progression is open ended.

Seems like a show case event only, but you never know, one of the two DLCs might bring bikes to Horizon..

UK
I love the series, and the UK plus 60 on the X makes me excited.
But I hope 60 does not come at the cost of anything else.

I thought it looked about as similar as one could expect. Do you mean it was different in another way?

Also is it bad that as a completionist I kind of want to get FH2 for Xbox 360 as well and get all the achievements there too?

BTW, the "map" is giving me some straight up FH1 vibes. The colors, the vegetation, the general mood - love it.

Although I was initially very excited I ended up liking the FH 3 map the least.

It had structure in its campaign. It required you to win to unlock new stuff. After that it became "here's 100 events, do them in any order you like, any car you want, and you don't have to win, that just accelerates your earnings".

True but FH3 to this?! I thought FH3 couldn't be taken further like seen in FH4 O.o haha

I'm not sure what the big leap is? FH2 already had big open areas with fields to smash through (FH4 seems fairly similar in style - more so than Australia), and FH3 had the obvious increases in detail. The seasons thing feels like smoke and mirrors - I assume they're just switching assets out so it'll all be baked in, like when you do a bucket list challenge and it changes the weather/time of day. So I would expect a load/transition when seasons change. Thats obviously more work for the developer, but I don't think it necessarily means a massive change in the actual game engine compared to FH3.

The 60fps mode is interesting but they've had dynamic resolution on this game before so I guess they can leverage that to balance resolution vs framerate? And is the 60fps mode only for X1X (which would make sense with the increased CPU speed

yes, but it's not a bad change for everyone. I am okay with both types of campaign personally, but for instance all my friends prefer Horizon 3's open endedness over H1's strict progression. H2-H3 feel like a rich vacation simulator, whereas H1 feels like a proper open world zero to hero racer.

Horizon has never had dynamic resolution. That's why image quality is so sublime.

One relatively minor graphical thing which makes a huge difference to me that I'm stoked for:

FINALLY Horizon gets the dynamic headlight shadows.

Looking forward to Forza Brexit. I live in East Anglia. I take it we'll be the least represented region being as we are incredibly boring.

Game looks nice, won't be a day 1 purchase for me, I imagine they won't really care about optimizing the game and it making it look great on the base XONE consoles (and on non-HDR tv's).

It will look great on the base consoles. Horizon always had but it's clear that the 1X version is the main focus for them.

I am curious about the setting. The rolling hills and cottages looked like classic English country side, but then they also had Edinburgh? Or something with that similar stone they have in their buildings. So will this be set in Scotland, or in different parts of the country? Or some weird crew-like mini version of the entire country?

looks like a substantial improvement.
in general flora and fauna seem much better,
lighting seems much better, color grading too.

I want to see a direct feed 4k hdr video file. anything released so far?

*edit:
guys, forza horizon 2 was not build for 360, but for xbone. it was their first real open world forza.
horizon 2 on 360 was a port by sumo using the old, 360 horizon 1 engine (not really drive anywhere, barriers exist)

I guess it is the progression system and I have the feeling that the handling of FH1 was less forgiving than FH3. I have FH1 and FH3 digitally and playing them back to back I somehow have the idea that FH1 is more difficult. There seem to be more influences on the road that can offset the balance in the car.

Does sound like it will be Scotland + North UK based (lake district etc). Which makes sense as south UK is boring for driving really.

Map wise it will be like 3 + 2 right (being based on real life but not)? Also hope the fact its 60fps base on consoles they have fixed the performance issues 3 had in the city regions.

Did anyone see Toyota cars in that trailer? I know Volkswagen has returned but Toyota...
Btw the new Mclaren and the Bugatti Chiron will be available without any paid DLC?

I think this is a really baseless assumption.
We'll see, Forza Horizon 3 already struggled in some parts on the OG XONE (like while driving really fast) and it didn't hold a stable (30fps) framerate at all times. If Forza Horizon 4 gets a serious graphics bump then it will be even harder to optimize it.

Nothing new about Toyota, they're pick-up arctic trucks in the trailer and they did show up as exceptions in Forza 7.

That´s because it is. The worst trend in Forza is that the game scales around you. Take whatever car you want with whatever setup you want and you will win no matter what.

I remember grinding for soft tires in GT or old Forza games to have a shot a certain events. Good times!

In day one anyway.

Pleased it's set in Britain, since I'm a Brit.

Hoping the PC port is better at launch this time too.
