I already liked the trailer when it was revealed, but the more I watch it, the more I love it! The music, style, characters, ahhhh the hype is real.

Yep. Incredibly awkward dialogue and probably the main reason I was put off by the trailer at first.

I like the idea of her character well enough and I can see her being endearing, but I definitely agree on those lines - they felt kind of stilted and mechanical in how they were written (translated?), not really the fun kind of cheesy. Still, it's a pretty minor complaint in the overall scheme of things.

I'm curious to see what the ladies look like after all these years. Judging by this trailer, Kyrie is gonna at least be in the beginning of the game. I really wanna see Trish and Lady though.

Well we are getting serious Dante. I'm guessing that black guy in the beginning was speaking to him. I'm kinda looking forward to it. Of course I still want a lot of good old cocky Dante. I'm sure they won't fuck it up.

Doesn't look that "serious" to me to be honest.

I mean, he certainly looks older but he's still driving a bike smiling like a madman and going all "WOOOOHOOO". I'm getting a very different vibe compared to, let's say, DMC2 Dante.

Definitely a negligible concern. I'm not really worried about voice acting ruining a DMC game, just part of the initial impressionwatching a trailer.

So I've never really tried to get into a character action game, but this footage has got my attention. On top of how nice the combat looks, the game's tone seems to have just the right amount of narm to work for me. It looks really silly but more in a self-aware way where the game is laughing with the player instead of a way where the player is laughing at the game.
That is the charm of the series as a whole. Something DMC 3 & 4 had in spades and something the reboot lacked entirely.

That was the impression I got, but the time I started hearing about the series more was when DmC was coming out and it didn't really catch my interest. The bits I've seen of DMC3 and 4 look solid, but I've never been sure if this type of game is for me.

I'm considering trying out DMC5 as an entry point and then going back to the earlier entries if I end up enjoying it.

I would strongly recommend trying DMC3. It's widely regarded as one of the absolute best games in the genre, as well as the best game in the DMC series so far. It excels in virtually every regard.

(There are some things I like more about 4, but there's no question that 3 is the better overall package.)

Watched the trailer again. As a fan of both DMC and especially DmC this makes me happy. We feasting.

I hope Dante's antics are toned down a bit from 4.

I'm pretty sure this will be an amazing game gameplay-wise, since it's from Itsuno. But man, I really hate this artstyle.

Has the song been uploaded yet? I see various channels claiming to have it posted, but I assume it's just an editted one from the trailer :P

I know DMC4 has Special Edition, but what's considered the best way to play 1 and 3 on consoles?

I'm sure a lot of people went along lines of;

  • Whoa, this is pretty disappointing.
  • Is this a reboot? / Is that girl Kyrie? / Is a reboot why Nero has a robot arm?
  • Well, as long as the fighting is fine, I don't mind too much.
To;

  • Whoa, that girl's new, Nero calls out Kyrie in the garage.
  • Whoa, Nero gets his Devil Arm ripped off by some duder.
  • Whoa, that duder looks a bit like Vergil.
  • Whoa, this must be a sequel to 4, and it actually doesn't look that bad.
  • Whoa, this new music suits Nero pretty well.
  • Whoa, is this a sequel to Dante DMC2's Ride to Hell?
The game looks pretty interesting after the initial surprise.

If Vergil does something to Kyrie and rips off Nero's arm, I really doubt Nero would be fine with Vergil just nonchalantly fighting alongside him and Dante later.
Unless Vergil will be playable but separated in terms of goal/story, almost like a playable villain.

Well this reveal has been an emotional rollercoaster... Thanks to the people who made the gifs of Nero revving up his sword and fighting cows (bats?) in midair with charged shot (sky star?) move... Restored my faith in the game after the bitter initial flashbacks of DmC days...

This is where I'm at with it, combined with Dante's more gaunt look feeling like a callback to DMC2.

Wouldn't it be wild if they made the Demi-fiend crossover canon. They won't do that but still a hint of that kind of multiverse stuff would be a good way to bring DmC back into the fold at some point and maybe even redeem it a little with its detractors, if such a thing is possible

Thank you for that. Fans of this series definitely had a long road to walk to reach this day. I'd forgotten some of the remarkably weird, aggressive contortionism the enthusiast press resorted to over that time in a concerted effort to make you look like assholes, which won't have helped.

I love Ninja Theory but what they did in DmC is a disgrace... that god awful dialogue man

Capcom didn't even acknowledge it's existence while unveiling DMC5 and said "it's been 10 years since DMC4"

Happy it's a nightmare behind us now

They also called DMC5 a "True Sequel" to 4. The shade was real.

Ok watched it twice and think it looks great! Big bosses, giving nero more variation in gameplay than he had in 4. Just hope its 60fps n dante and vergil are playable

It's 60fps confirmed and Dante is playable. No confirmation of Vergil yet, he seems to be a villain this time around (which is fucking awesome).

Considering that 90% of the animations are straight from DMC4 wich parts reminded you of Scalebound?
The character presentation looked like a dragon would show any moment.

I know capcom isn't platinum, that's why I used "looked like".

gameplay wise game looks hot, but i'm not diggin it's new art style... Dante looks like old Noctis + NieR 1 protagonist

still don't like the new style at all, even after let the whole thing sink in, but the genre currently has 2 franchises, and while bayo 3 sadly will not have kamiya at the helm , this at least has itsuno that should guaranteed at least a bit of quality control for the combat

just hope itsuno has took some notes from the action games that came out since dmc4, especially the first bayo.
