portabilitys not a factor for me but i do feel you on the intimacy thing. hmm ill have to think about it
thanks❣️
Playing in bed with your headphones on is much more immersive. I also cannot stand playing VNs on PC or consoles. With a handheld you can just pick up and play which is a perfect fit for this genre.

Well I don't know for others, but I don't read an ebook off a TV screen so I take the same approach with VNs. I prefer it on a handheld. I don't mind it on the laptop but its a bit bulky. I alternated between laptop/desktop for Fata Morgana and enjoyed it though. I guess as long as the screen is close its fine.

Yep same here. Have always enjoyed VN's on portable consoles or laptops. Big screens where you have to do a lot of eye movement to read text and view the CG's just make me sleepy lol.

I do buy a ton of VN's for PS3/PS4 so that when I'm done reading them on Vita I can get another platinum trophy by skipping through the console versions in just minutes/couple hours. :p

Good way to support the devs/localizers at least.

Is reading them on a portable really that comfortable? Could you elaborate? I've only done one on a portable and frankly I really didn't like the VN itself so it's hard to make a fair judgment either way.

And are there many PS3 VNs in English? I've only come across Steins;Gate, Hakuoki, and I think BazBlue if that counts? Quite a few others in Japanese though....

Summon Night 6 is digital only in EU correct? I'll be a bit sad if that's not the case since I've already got the USA physical release on its way to me!

Also, has anyone collected too many games and realised they've brought the same game twice before? I was checking through some older pics of my Vita collection and realised that I somehow ordered two copies of Samurai Warriors 4 Empires... which I really can't understand as I'm usually really up to date with Koei releases. What's also strange is that I keep my games in alphabetical order on my shelves and never realised it either :/

yeah it's digital only over here, they could've used someone like pqube or RSG to help publish it over here physically but after seeing the translation has a weird rewrite to it and not just the standard localisation nothing of value as lost really

Well I dunno how specifically you want me to elaborate on preferences. A big part of enjoying VN's on portables is that you can start and stop them at any moment without loss of progress. (Vita Power button, 3DS Fold in half to standby.) Then there is the portable aspect as well, playing in bed or on the couch, in the car, on a plane... Finally, screen size. The smaller the screen the less travel your eyes have to do for reading and taking in the actual pictures. For me, I feel like that helps with focus.

I don't think there are many English PS3 VN's tbh. Maybe just Steins;Gate, Hakuouki, and Eiyuu Senki (VN/SRPG combo). But still, I own TONS of Japanese VN's. On PS3 in specific, the Muv-Luv trilogy, Dunamis15, Disorder 6, White Album 2, Clannad, Time Leap, Chaos;Head Noah, and many more lol. Of course I also double dipped when Vita ports came for many of these.

I like to plod through them, even if I struggle to recall Kanji's because immersion is important to not forget a language which you're not always using.

Ah fair enough haha. Thanks regardless - that'll still work and it does help quite a bit. Yeah those are two really big advantages - probably perhaps the best thing about a handheld console IMO. Just so much more freeing, and while Remote Play (at least on PC) is helpful it's not the same as being fully portable. Never realized that about the smaller screen and less eye travel though...

Yeah... It doesn't seem to have really been a thing, which is kind of disappointing though I guess it makes sense. There's also Tears to Tiara II which Aquaplus did. Like you say so many Japanese ones though. Do you happen to have a few pics of your collection?

That's really awesome that you can understand the language - it really opens up a lot of options at least as far as VNs go...

Im enjoying my time with the swapper, I played some stages on pc 4 years ago, but never went too far, the vita is perfect for this kind of game. Maybe I will finish my pc backlog here, one day I must finish La Mulana

The Swapper is an excellent game. I was in the same position, got it for the PC yet never finished it, loved it so much on the Vita. Perfectly suited for the platform.

Broken Sword 5 is pretty fun, played about 2-3 hours, never played any in the series, but the animations and art style are pretty nice. Fully voiced as well. It's all touch screen, its still playable and it's a pretty fun adventure game. Takes up a ton of space, but seems like a one in done type of game so go for it. Plenty of trophies too.

Its an amazing series. Do yourself a favour and track down Broken Sword 1 and 2 if you can. Plenty of characters from the series return in 5 (some of my favourites especially) and the first two games are great both in terms of humor and animation. Plus the first game has the infamous "goat puzzle". Not played BS3 and 4 though, they go the 3D route and were worse for it from what I understand (especially 4).

Eh, Tokyo Tattoo Girls was cheap enough with Amazon Prime that I'm willing to give it a shot. It's going to be NIS America's last physical Vita game too, isn't it?

I can imagine it hitting clearance prices at Gamestop.

I did as well. There was just no info to be found about it. I'll see if I can find any decent reviews or even just some real gameplay footage after release. This week is just too packed to spend the money on a game that has no info out about it.

Too packed for a game I'm never going to touch for a long long while.

Oh I totally forgot TT2 lol. And it's in my backlog too! :( I kinda want to retire my PS3 these days but there are still a handful of things I just can't let go without playing through first.

No pictures. I'm not very big on physical collections. I travel a lot and move between Japan-US every couple months or so because of work and family, among other reasons. I learned pretty early that too many physical items is more of a burden than a pleasure. Thankfully we live in an age where books, manga, music, movies, and games can be collected digitally and follow you where ever you go. :) Except on Vita. :( Can't use my JP and US accounts on that, so all of my imports for Vita are physical. I only keep a small selection of them out at a time though, the others just get tossed into my closet at either of my homes haha.

Cancelled my pre order of Tokyo Tattoo Girls.

Okay. ... But why?

Edit: Seen above. Gotcha.

Is Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Venus actually a good volleyball game? Or is it solely an oogle fest. Considering importing it while its still easy to find.

I make a conscious effort to avoid that with my games even as an adult with no free time. I just bothers me to own a game and not try to make a conscious effort to at least beat/try to play it.
Although thinking about it : What is slated to release for 2018 for vita? Other than the persona dancing games I can't really think of anything else i'm interested in.

Wasn't Tokyo Tattoo Girls supposed to come out physically in EU too? I don't think you can buy it anywhere. Is it LE exclusive?

https://store.nisaeurope.com/collections/pre-order/products/tokyo-tattoo-girls-limited-edition

Technically there was never any promise of physical in Europe from what I can recall. Heck, I don't think they ever promised physical in any press releases for America either. After a bit of googling all I can find is release date info and LE availablity but never any comments on digital/physical availability.

I think I even saw placeholder listings at some UK shops. Whatever, not really interested in it anyway.

No I don't care about the boobs ao I played it as a game and the mini games are not fun. Most are simple press buttons at the right time and there are only like 6 games.

Or the Yandere VN, Or Hayarigami, Or Iwaihime, Or Exile Election, Or Hakoniwa....
I just want to believe that the Fata Morgana -Collected Edition- port will be localized and only isn't announced because they're waiting for the A Requiem For Innocence translation to be completed.

Net High (like C;H Noah I guess?) is pretty much confirmed to never be coming, so I've lost hope on that front. But Shin Hayarigami, Iwaihime, the YU-NO remake... Let me believe, fucking damn it ;_;

One of the games that I'm disappointed about it never getting localized was Luminous Arc Infinity. Honestly, I thought that was a shoe-in for a localization. Then again, the DS games did bomb.

XSEED passed on a bunch of great Vita exclusives just because they were Vita exclusives. I wish companies like PQube and Aksys were more agressive in localizing more Marvelous titles.
