So ROM 2064 is buy 1 standard and hope to get 1 of 3 covers and if you buy all 3 you may get all 3 covers? what is this loot boxes?

Buy 2 Standard and 1 CE. LOL.

I honestly just want one. Hopefully I get the the third cover. I'm not a super hardcore collector to buy 3 copies of the same game for the goddamm variants. That money can go to other games. imo
Windjammers is going to be $29.99? That's $15 over the digital price.

Normally it would be $24.99 but it has an extra $5 so that DotEmu can get a cut of the profits. And to offset the cost of the manual.

Is there even a CE for ROM?

Feels weird that Im missing out on nex machina and 2064 rom which are some of the titles I was super pumped to buy physical thanks to release timing and cover stuff.

Basically everything important is gone now outside of the ultra expensive bundle. Was really painful for me to sit through the whole weekend without jumping on the LM CE, but money being tight along with the order not shipping until December was what made me not go for it. I'll have to buy it off eBay later, which I'm nervous about doing as it could spike in price, or remain mostly the same like eBay listings for older LRG games like Flinthook.

If 2064 gets a CE though and it includes an OST that has good songs (Since I'd be playing it 100% blind) then I'd be in a really tough jam. I want to play it regardless so at least the normal edition is something I'm gonna get, but the collector/unboxer in me wants all CEs for cool games. Especially with how great their CEs for Wonder Boy and DARIUSBURST were

I think a major reason why SLG's release isn't selling out is related to quality, or at least the game's ability to attract people who actually want to play it. I can only speak for myself but the reason I did not buy Tokyo 42 is because I doesn't look like something I'd play. All indie publishers except LRG will have to have better known and better liked games than Tokyo 42 if they want to sell out a print like 2,600 copies fast. I only bought two eastasiasoft titles so far because the others looked kind of "meh" and those are coincidentally the only two that are sold out: Cursed Castilla and Ghost Blade. I believe they sold out because they look like/are good or at least attractive games while the less interesting eastasiasoft titles take a long time to sell.

LRG is the only company who has the luxury of not having to put out quality titles to sell 2,600 copies fast. They have a fanbase and a network plus it's well known that you can resell many of their releases for profit, or at least get your money back.

That sums everything, I would like to add that SLG releases will be more expensive when you do the conversation to USD or CAD. Also they don't handle import duties like LRG. They wrote a pretty vague comment about that in their FAQ page.
I think that they have to bring good games to the table in order to be able to compete. LRG was the pioneer that's why they have that leeway for releasing mediocre games and keep selling out like you have mentioned.

I am excited for Umihara Kawase on PS Vita, pretty sure that one will sellout faster

LRG also doesn't handle custom fees. You need to pay them on top of the already ridiculous shipping fees (unless your customs office just waives it because they don't care).

Edit: Apparently this is out-of-date information and custom fees are paid now.

I'm still bummed by that 3-covers thing, though. To me it is a very bad idea that will only frustrate some.

And I haven't decided myself about Claire. From what I see it is very close to Lone Survivor, and I rated it a mere 6/10 at the time. My main gripe was that the 2D navigation in a 3D map really messes up with your sense of orientation, and it gets old real fast to check you map every door to know which way you're going. I played one game like that, and I did fine, but I'm not super excited to play another one...

Do any of you think Atelier (Ayesha and the Dusk trilogy) still has a chance of happening? They were and still are my number 1 dream physical games I want from LRG, but I feel like the window for them is slowly starting to close as we move into 2018. I REALLY hope they happen.

At this point in time, I don't think so.

I am pretty sure that Doug has mentioned that they are paying a portion for customes in his interview with Metal Jesus Rock but maybe i am wrong. I don't know where r u located but for me that's the cheapest when I import from US..18 CAD$ for the heavy shipment ain't bad

Yes, we pay customs fees for most countries.

It sounds as if they changed it earlier this year? Last year I was still hit by custom fees, but at least everything was correctly declared and I could pay the fees directly to the postman. For Retro City Rampage (not a LRG release!) I need to drive to the customs office now.

I haven't paid customs for LRG parcels ever

Ha, of course there's a 2064 triple pack to get all the cover art variants... Not a fan of such practices. Most likely skipping that and Crawl, more intrigued by Windjammers.

Still no reply regarding the blacklist situation support ticket. Is it because it's a holiday?

I had a ticket that took days to get a response of "we're busy but will get to you sometime". I think actual thought being put into it took a month to 5 weeks. It's one reason I chuckle when people get frustrated and hit up the owners on Twitter, only to told that they should contact support for assistance. I mean I get that they don't have the cycles to help everyone, but apparently neither does their support staff.

Ugh I can't decide if I should try for the 3 pack. I worry that if they do the same thing on the potential Switch and Vita releases of 2064, I'll be compelled to get the 3 pack for those platforms too...

Engadget put up this story about the new ESRB rule affecting these smaller companies. We've already seen some of the the effects but it's an interesting read regardless.

It's not hard to imagine a price increase from LRG is going to be coming at some point.

It's weird, it took them less than a day to reply letting me know there's a blacklist (for the first time) but now it's been 3 days since my reply back. Hopefully it doesn't take a month for me like it did for you, but thanks for the info.

Does Limited Run Games prey on the whales of the collecting community with these multiple covers, those that cannot help themselves and have to have them all?

was making 2 of the covers a reverse and the 3rd a PSX cover out of the question?

Yeah that's what I wanted to point out. I'm sure Limited Run Games had only good intentions, but then there should be a reversible cover. Sure it was maybe developers' decision but I hope LRG weighed in to tell them it was a bad one.

I don't think they need to prey as the game would sell out regardless.
It puts a strain on the the ultra collectors, but that's our own fault really.
I guess it is more of a "whatever we sell will sell out" attitude. Like, why Lawbreakers, an online-only experience that is already outdated upon physical release being sold out. Or three copies of the same game will sell out. As someone who does not have that collection enthusiasm, who only buys what they plan to open and play, I see posts from people constantly saying that they will buy all that LRG puts out. And, I wonder, how predatory, and how much it influences them, that they can probably release anything (I used to joke about the bad Ghostbusters 2016 game) that would probably sell out by their hardcore collectors. It was more of an abstract question.

No, it was the developer having awesome art done asking if we could do 3 covers at 2064 each. Something that was decided almost a year ago.

I know the limit on the milking and really trying to be better about it.

For me, this is the limit, though. I decided years ago that I would not buy multiple copies of a game just because of variant covers. Make the cover reversible if you want to include two different ones, or just include multiple cover sheets so users can exchange them.
In the realm of comic book collecting, variant covers helped to bring about the speculator boom of the 1990s and the subsequent crash.
Unless you include multiple covers with each copy, this practice means fleecing collectors, plain and simple. Additionally, in this age of dwindling global resources it's unnecessarily wasteful.
I urge you not to repeat this.

Every time I buy one of these games I have to go chasing after the developers for a clean image of the box art so I can put it in Delicious Library. I'm interested in Crawl and Windjammers but thinking about tracking those images down is spoiling the thought...

So, I got that reply...

Funny thing though: after looking for it in the link provided, nowhere in the FAQ - extended or not - does it ever mention being barred from further sales of the item that was cancelled. Even worse, this was the response I received when I first cancelled the order:

sZV7J4C.jpg

I was checking costs/shipping/conversion to see if I could afford it at the time (which I couldn't) and messed up - I'll own that, that was my bad. But it shouldn't stop me from being able to make good on the purchase now. I received no warning about this supposed policy, no "Hello, thanks for reaching out", no denial of the refund or anything else; just "Canceled!"

It worked though - I got in contact with a member of the support team on Twitter just now and it was decided that due to the timing and communication/etc, I am now able to purchase the game when stock becomes available on January 1st.

Are there any new updates of Skullgirls? Didn't hear anything.
Wasn't stated that PS4 should be in hand soon and Vita sometime next month or early November? It was months ago. Did i miss anything?
