Very happy to see Nero back as that was one of my main wishes for DMC5 alongside multiple playable characters, it's probably already been said but he kind of looks like Cody Rhodes though haha.

Watching the trailer again, I'm liking the look of the combat, but the aesthetic style they went with is still a little off-putting

I was taken aback by Nero's face at first as well but when I saw the girl I knew they were using the RE engine and that flipped the switch.

Going by DMC4's first teaser with a more realistic Dante, I'm guessing they were finally able to go with the more realistic and less anime look they had wanted previously but weren't able to accomplish.

The pretty normal people at Giantbomb made Bayonetta comparisons with the music and how stylish the cutscenes were. Some people have memories for good things instead of nothing but their nightmares.

Los Alfheim
CAPCOM adopting platinum's tradition of having clowny ass sidekicks I see...
The trailer literally started with that detective looking guy giving a Rodin type speech. He's blowing out smoke and I'm waiting for him to look at Nero doing air combos and let out a soft, "Stylish."

What was the name of that old thread? What Can Bayo 3 and DMCV Learn From Each Other. LOL!

I really wonder who's that third character and what's his gimmick. Since it isn't Vergil that we see ripping off Nero's arm.

Anyone else notice that the Capcom Unity blog post removed the info about Nero's battle theme "Devil Trigger" being composed by Ali Edwards, and it supposed to have been released now on digital music stores?

You can still view it on the cached version of the page.

Tetsuya Shibata best not have gotten the boot because I was seriously not a fan of the music in the trailer.
That's a bummer. I hope they put the song up.

The only mechanic I hated and don't want to return is the revving. That shit was terrible and really interrupted the flow of combat.
whhhaaaaaat, you were definitely doing it wrong. You could rev the sword while attacking enemies. The only way it was interrupting the flow was if you were revving it while just walking around or avoiding enemies.

So the cloaked undead figure cutting Nero's arm is 99% Vergil who wants to reclaim his son's arm. I think may be this made him become the enw character when revived. Who knows.

Someone reminded me that his sword is in the arm so it would make sense it would be taken.

this might be the craziest post in this thread so far.

the Devil Bringer and Exceed mechanic is what makes Nero be stylish as fuck

Man, I legit thought that was "Dante" from DmC for a minute there & was really confused.

Big fan of the fact that in order to make Nero look less like Dante they've now made him look like DmC Dante

Stealing this from twitter, but just in case anyone wasn't convinced of Virgil's return.

Mother fucker shows up and jacks his own sons arm just to get his sword back

And folks were speculating Vergil wouldn't have Yamato because Nero had it. That problem was solved pretty quickly, lol.

I admit I liked her design quite a bit back then, but right now it only reminds me of DMC2. And she has the personality of wet paper, which is unsurprising in a game where even Dante is dull.
...and Dante has been fun in DMC3 and 4, IMO. I mean we both like a series where characters we never could've cared about get greater personalities than we could ever imagine, so anything is possible given the right drive ;)

If Nero's Bringer/Yamato is gone, does it mean he cannot Devil Trigger anymore?

This game looks stunning. Am I the only one who thought they saw Rodin in the beginning? Wouldn't it be cool if Bayo made a cameo in this game?

What I'm liking so far is that Nero will get different arms that will give him different powers, one of which allows to stop time around a demon.

I think it's the kind of depth that Nero needs to be a super cool character alongside Dante & V(ergil).

Also I strongly think that the music style is going to shift between the characters. What we heard is Nero's music style, and Dante is probably going to go back to a more classic style. The music kick-off during Dante's reveal was probably a preview of what's to come musically.

Honestly I'm liking what I'm seeing more and more. I certainly did not want to come back to the DMC3 style, I'm not into that noise. The RE Engine looks gorgeous too.

Sure, he'll look more realistic. But given how ND has knocked it out of the park with their very natural aging and stylistic changes to Ellie, Drake, Elena, Sully, etc... I have very high confidence in them compared to Capcom, who just seem to be trying to follow a trend they aren't particularly specialized in, and whose games aren't particularly suited to.
I'll give you Ellie but the cast of Uncharted looks quite different than they did. Like it's the same designs but there are literal changes in face structure:
