Vergil looks like Vergil from the micro seconds we see his face/parts of his outfit and Grandpa Dante looks alright, he doesn't look like a shave (and a few weeks without booze) couldn't bring him back to his DMC2 looks. The most important things they got right are his outfit (just look at that bike, it's amazeballs with all those armour plots in the front) and his personality (which sounds on point).
I get what direction they want to go with Nero (more rebellious, less conformist after escaping the religious freak show on his home island), but they would have been better off "punkyfying" his old haircut rather than going with the short spiky punk look that is VERY close to Donte. Rest of his outfit is fine.
Nero's new sidekick looks rather generic, uninspired and doesn't really fit with the creative character designs for the female cast from DMC 1/3/4, she looks like someone they randomly lifted from a Dead Rising game.
Now the regular enemies (especially the alien looking regular mobs, I was joking to a friend that this might be a Resistance trailer at a Microsoft conference before I knew it was DMC5) on the other hand look really uninspired and very close to the stuff in DmC, and largely uninspired. Much worse than the Marionettes, Scarecrows and arguably still inferior to those in DMC3 (the basic 8 Sin enemies weren't that creative either). The scythe wielding mobs that pop up briefly look very bland too, naked, hunched bald guys with a scythe in the grey color palette that the insectoid mobs have, yawn. At least the 8 Sins had differently coloured robes to bring some distinction in there. Bosses and the bat enemies are lacking the massive variety we had in DMC3 and DMC4, one is the usual generic female pseudo-angel daemon, one is a black blob with tentacles and the one with the most screen time is like an uninspired cross of Berial with Godzilla with a lava hole in his chest (reminds me of Beowulf in DMC3, who was by far the weakest boss design in the game by a massive margin).
Environments look extremely generic mid-apocalypse urban center, I remember watching that Dragon Ball/Naruto/One Piece trailer right after in the Microsoft conference and thinking "the environment looks exactly like in DMC5 one", nothing but blacks and greys. Hope the environments are more varied than that, DMC3 only used generic US urban areas for level 2 and 3 for a reason.
Jury's still out on the music, that "theme song" that plays during the boss fight with not!-Berial is awful, but some bits you hear near the beginning and end of the trailer sounds closer to the stuff from DMC3/4's combat tracks (which was great IMO).
