Yeah i instantly knew people would be upset by the DmC aesthetic and vibe.

I don't mind it.

Going to replay 3 and 4 at somepoint.

From the blog.

Utterly Insane Action

However, Nero is not alone in this fight. Our gameplay announcement trailer above focuses on Nero and his new set of tricks, but Devil May Cry 5 will feature 3 playable characters, with their own unique over-the-top playstyles and flair.

I guess we will get to play Nero, Dante and Vergil. If you zoom in on the walpaper you can see his sword.

YESSSSSS okay I'm happy now. I love the Nero gameplay but needed Dante contrast and of course Virgil. Phew.

I'm just glad DMC is alive

Edit: and it's a sequel to 2. I'm glad they finally pushed forward. DMC4 kept my attention for over 200 hours over the years and I hope this one does the same.

Personally speakin, I got more hyped up with DMC5's trailer than Cyberpunk 2077's trailer.

DMC5 all the way, baby!!!

I hope we get a good mix of Nero/Dante Gameplay and a more meaty dante-portion than in DMV4. But I definitely get having Nero as the MC, as Dante is simply too canon-wise, especially for an "early part" of the game.

I still can't get over how stunning this looks. Holy shit. I'm so glad they took some art direction influence from DmC. This is everything I wanted from a sequel.

As for the third guy on the cover, remember that Vergil had a sleeveless alternate costume in DMC3:

Just sayin'. I think it's probably a new character, though.

True, but the arms are so slim. It could be him, with tattoos/markings for..reasons, and being slimmer (after the whole Mundus, thing), and having black hair, also for reasons! It's all uncertain, for now. Definitely curious to know more. I'll be pretty sad if Vergil is not playable at all. Won't mind if he's unlockable.

Did the leak not suggest a brand new character though? I can't remember if it did...

Lots of developers have successfully transitioned to more realistic faces and styles, and aged characters, faithfully. Kratos from God of War is a recent example. Capcom is just consistently fucking up their designs.
When you go from characters not based on actors to characters that are literal scans of real people then you're going to have a major difference in how the characters look even when you have models that are lookalikes. On top of this having the character faces wrinkle up already creates a massive difference with how they look. Like genuinely look at yourself in the mirror, make this expression, and see how your face contorts as a result:

That's the kind of detail that's a direct result of the tech used to create games rendered with the RE engine.

This is like the only place that is hating on this game so hard. I'm stunned.

All my DMC fan friends are losing their shit, me included.

I guess a lot comes down to how much you hate Nero?

I believe in Itsuno to make this great. Probably not the best footage for a first impression, but oh well. The gameplay we saw only scratched the tip of the tip of the iceberg.

What is going to be the future of the RE Engine ? Is it going to completely replace MT Framework in the future ?

Seems like such a good engine to deliver visuals like this alongside 60 rock solid FPS

Vancouver
capcom themselves
http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/finance/million.html

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen - 2 million
Dragon's Dogma - 1.3 million
Total : 3.3 million

Devil May Cry 4 - 3 million

DMC 3 - 1.3 million
DMC 3 SE - 1 million
Total : 2.3 million

DMC 2 - 1.7 million

Devil May Cry - 2.16 million

DmC - 2.2 million

Though granted there is the DMC HD Collection that sold 1.1 million - so it depends how you count that towards the totals

I think it looks amazing and I love the Nero focus. Nero rules and his arm mechanic is super good in 4. I'm looking forward to seeing how Itsuno and his team progress the series.

I honestly can't believe some of you jabronis are catching feelings over petty shit like face models in this trailer we have been waiting TEN YEARS FOR. The song doesn't match your exact musical expectation for a DMC game? Like, oh my god, priorities, people.

Shit like this is exactly why people think DMC fans only disliked DmC because Dante had black hair.

Everyone's mentioned Nero looking like Cody but Nico looks like Veda Scott

Bu the character on the right has black hair, seems younger and has tattoos.

We really can't tell his age from a reverse shot like that, but hair color is really nothing. It's very likely a disguise. He'll probably show up in the cloak at first and attack Nero, then appear in "disguised" form as "V" in the actual story before they reveal that the two characters are the same person.
