Honoka can go to limbo for all I care (nothing against her fans) Marie could go either way, didn't like them that much to begin with...

You say this but people have brought up a good point regarding DLC costumes. That shit sells. I know a girl who doesn't buy any dlc except for doa5 costumes, including the fanservicey ones.

Don't think they're willing to ditch that revenue stream any time soon. And reduced jiggle physics don't mean it won't be there.
Yeah, I'm not gonna fool myself and think they'll drop it completely. But by announcing the game like this, they're at least signaling that they know that shit is wack. It's a step in the right direction.

If you only play DOA for the fanservice wouldn't it be better to just play the Xtreme games?

I do hope they make tweaks to the counter system to make it less spammy. Also I hope they keep the super system DOA5 had where you had to stun opponents first. As cool as supers are in Tekken 7 I really dislike how you can just toss it out there.

Has fan service = can't take seriously

No fan service = boring and bland

What the fuck guys? Make up your mind.

People have differing opinions. Some people want a hardcore serious 3d fighter, some want an over the top fan service game. It is what it is, and we will find out which one has more pull for the franchise when it releases. Its going to be an interesting one to watch

Just cause my main Helena is looking damn good I may buy this but 5 really didn't last long for me and holds are the most bullshit thing in a fighter. I hate them because if I combo you that shouldn't make you able to spam holds in my combo string. Make them more punishable and vulnerable and well have a better fighter in general. Or make them cost meter or hell just give them a 1 second delay so if I do a kick the person can't automatically chose to counter hold kick me.

Ehhh lets wait until they reveal the dlc to start saying they've toned stuff down. This was also gonna be the case with DoA5 until bikini dlc made them a goddam fortune.

Just show me Hitomi already! Something about her DOA5 design always through me off, so I'm curious at how she'll look in DOA6.

I still see the original alpha model when i look at her lol

The saggy hangers, the bird face... i think it ruined her for me forever lmao

Is it me or did they finally fixed the faces of the characters. I hated the way they looked in DOA6, but now they look more...Japanese? Example: Kasumi looked like she became a western version of herself in DOA5. In DOA 6, she looks more eastern in her appearance.

Maybe that's just me.

I think they can work out a balance here. They can make it more tasteful and toned down while still making tons of fanservice outfits.

I didn't play the game itself, but at least from videos the way the characters' skin interacted with materials in Xtreme 3 was seriously impressive. They can just focus on that instead of balloon jiggle, and have costumes that play with that, with things like zettai ryouiki and this sort of stuff instead of just removing clothes and calling it a day. Weebs will love this shit, they'll alienate much less people and won't have to worry about tournament viability.

I need to see the new soft engine at work. The skin and sweat was really impressive to me in 5. I'm not ashamed to admit that I bought Last Round just to watch hot girls beat the shit out of each other.

Capcom went for that crowd hard with SFV and that blew up in their face.

Capcom released a half baked game without features that have been common to the genre for years. Them going esports had nothing to do with SF5's launch failures. Esports is the one area that Capcom has been amazingly consistent at, in fact.

They actually do. They never took the game as a serious fighting game and broadcasting companies like ESPN wouldn't want to air DoA5 due to the skimpy clothing and ridiculous jiggle physics.
I'm pretty sure most of the characters have one or two modest outfit and there's an option to turn off the boob physics.

DoA5 also started pretending to take itself seriously, you know. The "I'm a fighter" marketing and all that.

I'm fine without jiggle because I saw some thigh highs. That's all I need. I'm pretty excited for some DOA6... been a while.

So what was that whole "funeral procession" at the end of Top 8 at NEC from Tom Lee all about then? Was it just no more circuit tours from the game for the forseeable future?

It's really, really not. And the judging of people over it is offputting.

Not every game needs to be DoA. In fact there is a problem when too many games are like DoA, and we still need more games without sexualization and strong female leads.

But games like DoA in and of itself existing, and having fans of isn't wrong at all. There is a space for sexualized content in any media, and that was pretty much DoA bread and butter.

It definitely is.

It's kind of funny though how some devs are toning down fan service as graphical fidelity is improving significantly. Fan service lovers must be reeling at this unexpexted turn of events lol.

well, hopefully they can at least put all the sexy stuff for extra costumes. Make the default ones e-sports friendly, put all the sexy shits as alternate..... but they will probably make them paid DLC..

Jesus. I'm still in disbelief. They literally had a funeral for one of my favorite game franchises less than six months ago and now we're getting this.... I guess I took the bait but I'm so happy!

I don't mind less or same levels of fanservice but I really hope we see more distinct character designs. My biggest gripe with DoA was that the female characters (similarily in Soul Calibur) had a massive case of "Sameface/samebody" with little distinctions between their personalities and costumes.

KoF and SF manages fanservice while also having an very varied roster just fine, so i'm hoping for that

I'm prbly VF Fan #5.. How else can I annoy mfs online w/ Vanessa? lol
Vanessa players will always have my respect. Under represented character imo. She's awesome.

Anyways back on topic, I'm not sure I believe Team Ninja on their fan service cutbacks. I would like to see it in here but it's not a deal breaker for me by any means. DOA has always been a pretty solid fighter at its core and if they can build on what DOA5 established, I'm good. Just don't screw up my girl Hitomi.
