i have a tendency to believe these are actually "optimized" for the switch. Nintendo themselves aren't even USB C PD compliant on their console (which is pretty terrible) so those words mean nothing when it comes to the switch. other banks have bricked the system even if they were PD compliant. maybe anker and nintendo worked together on handling the power delivery on these banks the way nintendo does it on their nintendo made products (aka their charger)

just a guess

There's really no way it's any more efficient at delivering power than the plain Anker batteries.

And this is why they slap a Nintendo logo on something and jack up the price.

Been using one of their non-power delivery PowerBanks with my Switch for months now with no issues. What is the "bricking" you speak of?

was going to ask about this: was it ever proven that power banks could brick a Switch? I know unofficial docks could, but I never saw anything concrete outside that particular accessory.

So basically it's a power bank that is going to cost 3 times as much but offer nothing to justify the cost. Much like the officially branded memory cards. Or not. We shall see. Anker makes good stuff though.

Wow lol stick a switch logo on a generic battery and bump the price. Great stuff...

And this is why they slap a Nintendo logo on something and jack up the price.

This is actually $10 cheaper than the standard one, albeit without the AC adapter. Switch discount, not tax:

Not quite, because that one doesn't seem to have USB-PD for higher voltages (and wattages).

It seems to be a rebranded PowerCore Speed: https://www.anker.com/products/variant/powercore-speed-20000-pd/B1275011

This is the Switch one for reference: https://www.anker.com/products/variant/pre-order-powercore-20100-nintendo-switch-edition/A1275S11

Everybody seems to be comparing this to different existing Anker products, and coming up with different kinds of takes of "Switch tax".

Can you please tell with facts of other power banks bricking systems? Stop spreading false info and hyperbole unless you can back it up.

There is one Nyko dock that was giving issues and bricking systems since last year. I have yet to see any other product brick systems, but if you can prove me wrong please do.

That doesn't come with a Power Delivery charger included right?

Wondering the same thing. I remember reports about NSW's USB C port, but any evidence that a Power Delivery-compliant power bank has bricked a Switch?

I have a freaking 30,000mAH powerbank from aukey and I am afraid to use it with my Switch because it possibly was what bricked my first Switch cuz I used a direct usb-c to usb-c connection.

Wise choice for a partnership. Echoing many others, Anker products are great and none of them have failed me yet. They're built very well.

This is more expensive than I thought, but it also looks dope. Next time I need to travel for more than four or five hours with no outlets, I'll probably look into buying this -- should be cheaper by then, too.

I've had a USB-C Anker Power Bank since the Switch came out and it's AWESOME. I've gotten tons of Zelda and Mario playtime out of it

I ordered mine on the Anker site the day it was announced, and it arrived today:

IMG_3460.JPG
It comes with a USB-C cable and a pouch (no charger). I'm very excited by this b/c it's one of the smallest USB-PD output capable power banks out there.

It looks just like any other anker powercore. They should have made one in some sort of cool Nintendo design. Something creative.

Just FYI, here is the Anker power bank I use all the time both for my phone and my Switch:

Anker PowerCore 13000
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z9QVE4Q/

It's much more compact than most of the other Switch-compatible power banks I've seen people share in this thread, yet it still charges the Switch well.

It won't charge it fast, but it does charge well overnight, and even during gameplay it charges fast enough to keep the Switch's battery from draining further.

So according to this review, the Nintendo Switch version of the power bank is one of the only power banks that can charge your Switch while you're playing it at the same time.

I have a generic Chinese power bank that drains within 90 minutes while attached to the Switch and playing at the same time.

Just ordered the Nintendo Switch version.

The one I posted 5 months ago immediately before your post can charge the Switch while you're playing it, and it's under $40.

It doesn't charge it fast, but the Switch battery does charge while playing Zelda / whatever else on the plane.

Yeah. It seems like it's a difficult task for many power banks to charge a Switch while you're playing it.

Just got mine. The 20100 version.

It's a very heavy unit. I reckon it'll take a few hours to charge up to full once it's depleted. When you first get it you have to perform a "reset" before it starts charging.

Next the test is to see it recharge the Switch while playing Fortnite which I think is the most battery intensive game.

I have a RAVPower power bank that I've used multiple times over the last year. I have never had any issues. It didn't come with a cable, so I just bought a recommended (maybe from another thread here...?) usb-c to usb-c cable. My RAVPower power bank does a great job and charges the Switch while it's in use. Having said that, all of this makes me nervous and now I'm wondering if I should pony up for one of these official power banks to be safe. The whole situation is a mess. It's... unfortunate.

I use Anker PowerCore 13000 on Switch, never had any problems.

It even recharges the Switch while I play, but very very slowly.

The PowerCore 13400 Switch edition recharges my Switch quite well while playing Super Mario Odyssey. It's way superior to my regular PowerCore 13000, that really barely charged my Switch while playing, so there is actually a difference.

I got a Anker PowerCore 20100 Nintendo Switch Edition for £39.99 last week from Very.co.uk, thanks to Eurogamer for the link. Far better than £79.99, I'm glad I didn't get one sooner now. Handy bit of kit for long journeys.

That's a good price. I don't think Anker has officially launched these in U.K. I may be wrong.

Definitely a good piece of kit. Supposed to be able to recharge a MacBook battery from 0% to 100%.

Yeah should be handy for keeping the Switch and my phone topped up when needed.

I've only seen them in Argos over here but it doesn't seem like many places do the Nintendo versions, not even seen them on Amazon, they have the non Nintendo versions.

I went with the Nintendo one just to make sure it didn't kill my Switch, with all the stories of 3rd party docks and charges possibly bricking systems.
