Dang, they should have offered this at the end of May. Could have made playing at E3 much more feasible!

Teaming up with Anker is a good call on Nintendo's part. Their portable batteries are top-tier.

Yikes. $90 for a power bank?

Not quite, because that one doesn't seem to have USB-PD for higher voltages (and wattages).

It seems to be a rebranded PowerCore Speed: https://www.anker.com/products/variant/powercore-speed-20000-pd/B1275011

This is the Switch one for reference: https://www.anker.com/products/variant/pre-order-powercore-20100-nintendo-switch-edition/A1275S11

Anker products are the best, not failed me once. They really have polished hardware. Good partnership.

Anker is fast becoming my favorite affordable electronic brand. This is an extremely good partnership all around.

But just how much are we paying for this official partnership vs their already available and relatively safe power banks?

I was just wondering to myself the other day while browsing the Switch section at Best Buy why Nintendo didn't team up with a power bank manufacturer for Switch... Anyway, I've been using a Type-C/USB-C RAVPower 20100mAh power bank with my Switch. Haven't had any issues, but have only used it four or five times. Any reason/benefit I should buy one of these instead? Safer?

They're claiming it'll be safer and a faster charge due to the fact that Anker worked with Nintendo to figure out the most efficient way to recharge the Switch's battery through the console's architecture.

Otherwise I use an Anker 16000 and it works just fine.

the Switch version actually outputs a different voltage and amperage. I believe the Switch can receive 15V/2.6A or 39W of power. The other USB-C power banks don't output at 15V, so they don't take full advantage of the Switch's charging capability. Even this one only charges at 15V/1.6A or 24W, which is below the maximum, but is better than the other one that charges at 5V/3A or 15W.

I have that same Anker power bank in the first photo, minus the Switch logo. It was $50.

I'm sure the non Switch Ankers work just as well but it's good to see this option is available.

I plan on getting a Switch in the fall.

I wish there was a single power bank design that doubled as a dock so I can use one while not holding the screen.

Been using one of their non-power delivery PowerBanks with my Switch for months now with no issues. What is the "bricking" you speak of?
The hearsay is that with the way that USB-C cords and charging devices work and how they're (not) regulated, using a charger not designed for the specific intended product or using a "catch-all" charger can and will damage your devices. That's why nonbrand Nintendo docks have the reputation of bricking your system. People also warn about those devices causing the battery of the device to "swell". Which leads to the Switch getting damaged in the dock.

I have an Anker from last summer when I traveled. I hope that I can use turn it on again and it works.

I feel like I overused it when i did travel and ruined it when i charged in european wall outlets with an adapter.

So basically it's a power bank that is going to cost 3 times as much but offer nothing to justify the cost. Much like the officially branded memory cards. Or not. We shall see. Anker makes good stuff though.

Anker's products are fantastic. I've already got the PowerCore 26800 charger and love it, but might hop on this if the review's are good given the pickiness of the Switch's USB-C. If I'm remembering the numbers correctly, this could double as a powerbank for my equally picky GPD Win 2.

Edit: Also, this seems to be a bit cheaper than similar PD banks.
