I want to play it when I get a PSVR and a 4K TV.

So PSVR is 260€ on Amazon France now. When do you think I could get one for less than 200? Black friday deals maybe ?

Sony told us no hardware announcement this E3 but I think the timing would be perfect for for 2.0. headset...

If you are talking about immersion than the phenomenon of the tetris effect is one of the most immersive things gaming has achieved and it did so purely through gameplay. You could play tetris on a pocket calculator and later that night dream about tetrominos. As the trailer said it is a scientifically proven effect. And I think immersion doesn't have to be just about taking you to a different reality but can also be about completely immersing your mind into a particular pattern of thinking like Tetris does.

You take the incredible visual and musical style of Mizuguchi + Tetris + VR and you get a game that will amplify the tetris effect in the most incredible way possible. People who have played Rez infinite in VR can attest to how that game immerses players even though the content of the game is completely abstract. I personally want to see them apply that same magic to Tetris.

Sure Tetris is still just Tetris. You can play it on your browser, on your phone, in minecraft, you can play it as a versus game or score attack game. There a tons of different ways to play it so why not VR as well? And if you were to port Tetris to VR I honestly can't think of any other folks more suited to the task than Enhance games

As far as immersion, I was more referring to feeling I'm not on my family room couch, not really the Tetris effect. I guess my lack of being super excited as some others is I bought the PSVR thinking the games would be more "take me to this place" type of games. I played Rez, thought it was cool, but it only lasted a short while for me. I will likely play this too but it will only be short lived. I am really hoping E3 gives me some more VR titles that stretch outside playing a game in 3D.

BTW playing Tetris in tons of ways is an understatement. I recently bought a cheap TV tuner converter box off Amazon for my projector and it had tetris on it. Crappy as it was, I still played it for almost an hour. lol Sadly I did not see floating boxes in my dreams later that day.

Mizuguchi is involved? I'm actually interested in a Tetris game for once. I wish he would somehow release Child of Eden for PSVR though.

Rez Infinite is easily the greatest thing I witnessed on VR and it has to be one of my highlights this gen. Bring it on Tetsuya.

What do you think they'll do in a 2.0 revision of the headset?

I had an OG PSVR which I sold and I plan to get the 2nd revision with HDR passthrough. I'd personally be very shocked if there was another version before PS5.

Hey, Miz, get us hyped for Tetris Effect by making a skin out of that song in the commercial and put it in the new Lumines game coming later this month. One of the only redeeming qualities of the iOS Lumines game is the Rez skin pack. Hopefully they dont let those die by only releasing them on Mobile.

iOS Lumines is pretty damn good IMO. Amazingly, it also has Shining in it - a first ever since the PSP original.

Day 1 buy for sure. The good people behind Lumines and Rez can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned (aside from all the Gwen Stefani in Lumines 2 but we won't talk about that).

This game is right up my alley. I'm so pumped for this! Time to dust off the PSVR headset.

That and the Black Eyed Peas used to make me thing Lumines 2 was terrible, but looking over the track list of the first game and the second one, Lumines 2 destroys it with over double the skins. Kinda makes me wish they remastered 2 instead of 1.

I'm interested, but I need a lot more information. It's all quite dazzling, but I need to know more about the gameplay modes. Otherwise I will probably be content sticking with one of the other five versions of Tetris I own. Of course, there's always room for another.

They're going to be at E3 next week, so we presumably will be seeing, and learning, a whole lot more. If it's just Tetris with a new skin and music wrapped around it, it'll be a huge disappointment. But it's Mizuguchi, and he's earned the benefit of the doubt. At least from me he has.

I love Lumines. I really hope this game has a classic Tetris mode with these beautiful visuals. I just want to play good ole Tetris... EA managed to fuck that up on consoles AND mobile. I know they think they need some sort of new twist or hook on the Tetris formula but at least put classic Tetris in there as an option.

What were your problems ? I've had a good time with it.
The controls are just wonky and not good for lumines. So you can only rotate one direction and sometimes it fucks up and throws it down when you were still rotating it. The biggest issue is this just makes the game no fun when You want to start moving faster later on. The handheld versions where always super fast, fluid and acurate using controls where as here it's like.. oh rotate rotate fuck over rotated ah it dropped anyways and now my chain is ruined ughhh.

I feel like it could have totally been fixed if they just added a way to counter rotate and more accuratly drop faster.

Game sits at a 3.8 on both iOS and Android store.. and yeah most the complaints are about controls. I don't get why they did not try to improve it.

I thought there were deals for 199€ during the last Black friday? Maybe I got it confused and it was a $ / north american deal. You can get a pack for 249€ on Playstation's site during the Days of Play from the 8th to the 18th of june.

I think the price will drop, for sure, but if you wanna get one now then either Amazon France or the Days of Play deals are the best places to get it right now. Did you check for local deals?

Wow insane trailer! So many partial effects lol! Reminds me of Dyad. The most amazing thing was that the download was 1337mb. Did anyone play that on ps3? Has that dev done anything since?

Dyad was great! It was also an extremely challenging game at times. I managed to get the platinum trophy on PS3, and really felt a sense of satisfaction that I earned it.

Mizuguchi is involved? I'm actually interested in a Tetris game for once. I wish he would somehow release Child of Eden for PSVR though.

Some of the visual imagery in the Tetris Effect trailer was highly reminiscent of Child of Eden. Now that he's got some VR experience under his belt with this game and Rez Infinite, you've got to wonder if Child of Eden will get the VR treatment sometime down the road.

I do enjoy Lumines Puzzle & Music (the Android/iOS game), but it is one of those games where it quickly becomes evident that touch screen controls aren't quite adequate. They did a good job of adapting the game to the touch screen, but it lacks the precision that you get with a proper physical joypad and buttons.

I wasn't satisfied with the other attempts from random people on YouTube to isolate the song in the trailer, so here's my take on it:

There are some flaws, but the ending is 'correct' which none of the others I found attempted to tackle. I own 4 copies of Rez, so I'm very much looking forward to playing this game.

Man, I hope that my PSVR headset still works. This has to be the most exciting announcement for the platform since Rez.

I'm hyped! Psychedelic Tetris is something I never knew I wanted until I saw it. I'm there day 1. I still need to buy Rez Infinite too.

Oh hell yeah!
I just bought mine yesterday. I just had my first experience with motion sickness. I felt like I was flying (had inertia) while sitting still in a chair. Kinda like the sensation you get when you wake up when your dreaming your falling. It was a trip, got immersed better that I expected. Can't wait for this.

If you really do want classic Tetris, you can buy Puyo Puyo Tetris now. It got it ankle and is a magnificent game.
