NYC army base orders pizza, calls ICE (Emergency stay granted)

This is fucked up, according to this Tweet, this same delivery guy was able to make deliveries to this same base without any problems:
He's delivered to the base before, he got on the base this time too. He was not stopped at the gates.
We keep giving the benefit of the doubt to evil, cowardly-ass conservatives because not doing so would make for awkward dinner conversations.

"Died for their country". I think the last time American troops fought in a war where they were genuinely fighting for the future of their country, was WWII. Since then, it's all been nothing more than sending young men to clean up the mess of dirty American mistakes in the middle east.

It's a fucking immigration warrant. People are not illegal. The existing immigration process is garbage, and I am wholly against undocumented immigrants being kicked out of the country. I am for sure against it when it's someone who has been here a decade, working and paying taxes. The festering assholes in charge of "law enforcement" have a boner fueled by racial animus, and they're using ICE for an ethnic cleansing. ICE is a rotten, festering, racist organization that was created at the height of creating security theater to satiate anti-Islam hysteria in the post 9/11 days where everyone was expected to jerk off to the flag. I hope that every single jackbooted wannabe Gestapo fuck who is in ICE is prosecuted and the whole rotten organization is burned to the ground. It was created under rotten circumstances, it was rotten under Obama, and having a racist wannabe tin-pot dictator in the Oval Office is reinforcing just how terrible it is. Fuck ICE forever, and fuck any and all concern trolling about undocumented immigrants.

I make more than enough money, but UBI is important. Not because I, or other people, don't have usable or transferable skills, but because corporations have been on the longest fucking free ride of all time. Of course they had value. Politicians played their cards right and sent all those men and women to "fight for their country". We're getting off topic here now, because the point I was trying to make is your claiming them doing their job/following orders is worth ruining a family who will now have to make due without a father for who knows how long. I don't know what the guy did to get a warrant, but surely a proper trail should have been offered instead of just kicking him out of the country.
People entering a military base are supposed to go through a background check now, so if they let him in it sounds like they were bending the rules.
The least assholish thing they could have done is have the personnel who ordered the pizza pick it up from the gate. I don't think they're legally compelled to hold the pizza delivery man for immigration warrants. If someone knows for sure they can correct me.

I respect that many American soldiers gave their life for something they may not have believed in either. They at least deserve that. They didn't have the internet to complain. They were drafted.
This is probably a terminology/communication issue caused by people not knowing the general processes. From the details in the various sources, it seems that he went to the gate and was asked for ID. I don't know the complete list of acceptible ID's but usually people use a Driver's Liscense, Military, Dependent, Retired Military, or DoD ID. I have no clue if the NYC ID (not drivers liscense) is an acceptible form. If you can't produce ID or don't have the right kind of ID, you're directed to get a Guest Pass at a nearby office. This office is technically on base but is not usually inside the access gate itself. Once there, you fill out paper work to get the Guest Pass and asked some cursory questions (what's your business on base? etc...). Your information is subject to be checked. If you're good to go, you're given the pass and have to take that back to the gate to get on base.
I'd hazard to guess that he was directed to get a Guest Pass at the gate and was detained during the process of getting that Guest Pass when the ICE warrant popped.

If you are serving out an enlistment contract or are commissioned into the Armed Forces, it's for a certain period of years.
Not following Army policies, while a very minor crime, is nevertheless a crime under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
A soldier does not have the freedom to say "Yeah, I don't agree with this" with impunity.
Now, I'm not opining on the morality of the action or its ethics: only that no, he could not simply have left his job.
