Last month TheOneRing.net reported that Jackson and his crew were considering a return to Middle-Earth, but while promoting Mortal Engines - which he co-wrote - he's confirmed that he won't be involved in the show. It's widely believed that the show will explore the adventures of a younger Aragorn.

They have full license to everything? That sounds bizarre to me, I guess Warner doesn't really own much other than distribution rights of the products they had a part in?

Good. The films will never be bettered in their format. Let's find a new voice.

Also, great to see TOR.net breaking news again :)

Is it really going to be called Young Aragorn?

No, we don't know what the series will be called. But given that it's likely to be an anthology series (every season is a different story), it'll probably be something like "Tales from Middle-earth: ___________"

Welp. There goes a pretty good amount of hype I had.

Still looking forward to seeing the final product though.

I'm not surprised, but I had still hoped he would be involved.

As long as it involves WETA and films in New Zealand, though, most of my interest will be retained.

Bizarre that Amazon also has access to all of the LOTR/Weta assets. How's that possible?

That's fine. Really enjoyed LoTR and the Hobbit was okay but I think it will be fun to see someone else's interpretation of this world.

Peter Jackson was done with the universe by the end of RotK. That's why he wanted to hand off the Hobbit to del Toro. He only took it on cause he didn't want it to go to someone worse.

This isn't surprising at all.

Not his fault. Corporate meddling and a lack of pre-production ruined those movies.

Just remember, WB threatened to stick Brett Ratner on them if PJ didn't step in. Not even joking.

sources are tossing out the names of folks said to be interested in taking over such as Brett Ratner and Fred Claus director David Dobkin

WB deserves to fail at everything they do in life.

Yep, I'll never understand the vitriol thrown against Jackson. It was basically "I can manage the collateral damage or they can get it to some hack yes-man that'll rush out a trilogy in 3 and a half years"

Considering the circumstances he was under, he may as well have directed Citizen Kane. Also, the fan edits can make one hell of a movie. He clearly shot too much but even that can be blamed on WB forcing a third movie on him while he was working on the second.

Is he going to take on any DCEU projects now?

Peter Jackson Debunks DC Movie Rumors
French outlet Allocine asked Jackson about the rumors that he's possibly going to direct a DC movie. While fans may have been excited to see Jackson take on a major comic book property, Jackson isn't interested at all. He says he's never even read a comic before and has had no discussions about directing a big screen adaptation of one. Here's his quote translated from French.

That's not true. I had no discussions about that. I'm not a fan of comics, I've never read any, so I'm not particularly interested in adapting one for cinema. That's not true at all.

Yea you really feel sorry for him watching the Appendices on the extended editions. He did his best with the pile of shit WB slapped him with.

Seems he wants to focus on Mortal Engines? Hope it's a success.

It's co-written by him and directed by his protege from the LOTR movies. So...
