Looking at that graph above,, it looks as though Switch isn't going to catch up with Wii and definitely not the 3DS or DS. Unless someone can tell me otherwise?

Really bad for BlazBlue, especially Switch version. Liar and Blind Prince did better than I expected.

Now that we can stop talking about reaching 1 million for BOTW, it's time to decide whether BOTW can reach the series' biggest entry. These are the games that have sold more than BOTW currently has:
Code:
System Title FW LTD Publisher Release Date
FC The Legend of Zelda [Famicom Disk System] 1.690.000 Nintendo 21/02/1986
FC Zelda II: The Adventure of Link [Famicom Disk System] 1.610.000 Nintendo 14/01/1987
SFC The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 1.160.000 Nintendo 21/11/1991
N64 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 386.234 1.143.570 Nintendo 21/11/1998
A top 3 ranking for BOTW is not in doubt, but reaching second or third spot will be more difficult. Still, I personally think it will eventually outsell the top 2 games and become the best-selling game in the franchise. What do you guys think?
I think is doable, depending how long Nintendo waits to Make BotW 2. (which It highly expect 2020 at worst)

btw, when will Bamco stop with these dumb anime games based on not relevant IPs?

Full Metal Panic isn't a popular IP today at all, no idea why this game was even made besides the fact they decided they would pump out anime games non-stop because of Naruto/DBZ/One Piece performance. Next bomba is incoming with Grancrest Senki PS4, another not very popular franchise.
you never know. Bamco have been doing this for quite a while. I have to assume they can profit from these games.

It will almost assuredly catch up with Wii which had a very abnormal hardware trend in Japan. No for DS. For 3DS it could get in the ballpark IMO.

Great Switch software sales as usual and BOTW gets the million seller status it deserves.

Cool that the hardware sales are improving as well.

PS4 will keep tracking lower than PS3 for a while, the difference between them will be reduced more and more.

Hmm? Anime is currently airing, there wasn't anything 2 years ago. Might be thinking of another series.

I was actually thinking of the publishing of the Light Novel series which ended two years ago, my bad >_>

There's new anime airing right now that's why it was made and released now. The anime still sells, the games not so much.

Yikes at Blazblue TAG. No wonder they're going in so hard on western events like EVO and PAX.

Edit: This post is about physical Switch BOTW. With WiiU and digital there's not a doubt in my mind.

Now that we can stop talking about reaching 1 million for BOTW, it's time to decide whether BOTW can reach the series' biggest entry. These are the games that have sold more than BOTW currently has:
Code:
System Title FW LTD Publisher Release Date

FC Zelda II: The Adventure of Link [Famicom Disk System] 1.610.000 Nintendo 14/01/1987
SFC The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 1.160.000 Nintendo 21/11/1991
N64 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 386.234 1.143.570 Nintendo 21/11/1998

BotW is already #3 on that list. Keep in mind it sold an additional 150k physical units on WiiU, and then digital sales across both platforms should be close to 100k (this is just speculation based on Famitsu's digital estimates). All in all, BotW's sell-through in Japan should be north of 1.2m. It'll definitely top that list during the first half of 2019 if not before.

At the same time, BB TAG couldn't have been a big investment for them? It's an asset flip + 4 meh at best characters (not a RWBY fan :P)

... Then again, this is the title they went ahead and gave an English dub.

wonder if Atlus' tradition on prolonging their stay on dead hardware will hurt them a bit here.

I guess negative reception has a lot to do with this case.

They're remastering Catherine and putting it on Vita, Persona Q2 has vanished but it seems to be 3DS only. They were probably banking on milking P5 for awhile, but I'm not sure they'll be able to

Also Full metal Panic bomba even harder than i thought considering right now it actually had anime running to push the IP relevance.

Guess thats what happen to an IP which had lost its way long time ago.

Having a anime running don't mean much .
Also with the game looking that bad think it was expected .

I think it will do well enough in the west, considering they said the beta was big and the overall bigger interest in fighting games overseas.

?? Even more DragonBall i guess? It is not like there are many popular anime nowadays.
There are many IPs more popular than Full Metal Panic in 2018. lol If they want, they can easily use something like Code Geass.

Also to note is I'm assuming Wii has passed its second holiday, where Switch is not. After December the Switch will have arced up to beat the Wii, I think.

Catherine on Vita and Q2 on 3DS will bomb extremely hard. It worked with the DS because the 3DS had retrocompatibility, but Switch hasn't and Vita is as dead as it could possibly get.

With the huge failure of these Dancing games and the inevitable bomba that Q2 will be if it stays as a 3DS-only game, the Persona brand is in a rough spot right now.
in japan at least. i thought p5 sold rather well worldwide though?

to me it looks quite possible that the switch will actually start closing the gap with the wii in about 5-10 weeks time, and continue doing so for the rest of what we can currently see on the graph given the july schedule + presence of smash.

Remembering how over an year ago, we were discussing about how Zelda wouldn't sell 1M in Japan and that once MK8D launched Zelda's would begin to decline. With digital sales it's probably getting mighty close to 1.5M.
DKTF also half way to 300K one month after release, should get there eventually.

Can't wait to see how Mario Tennis Aces and Minecraft do, I'm expecting big things for both games.

The week of 6/17 could see the first week with 2 100K Switch debuts (Minecraft and Mario Tennis)

I'm concerned about Switch sales /s

Really great to see Zelda:BotW breaking the million barrier, this looks like to be the first gen since NES, that a Zelda game sells more than a new mainline Final Fantasy game in the same generation.

Kind of interesting that the PS4 version of Blazblue sold nearly three times the Switch version. I thought any multiplatform game would do best on Switch. Is this game too hard core for Switch owners?

Already on page 3 O.o

Anyway, my summary:
- BlazBlue bombed really hard. Central Fiction sales were already lower than Chrono Phantasma, but this is another cut in half. A disappointment, especially when you take the other series into consideration as well. Hopefully, overseas sales are better.
- Liar Princess sales are good. 17.418 copies sold in total is pretty good. The swan song of NIS' Vita support and with a reason, clearly. While the Vita sales are not that bad, it's clear now that PS4+NSW is the way to go.
- Full Metal Panic is a bad game, so bad sales as expected.
- The Neptune Re;Birth 1+ sales are very low, but that's also expected, as the game is very hardcore, so most fans have already played the game, either original or the first Re;Birth release.
- Congrats to BOTW for 1M Switch sales.
- Hardware sales are slowly but steadily going up for the Switch, but I wouldn't give credit to any event for this increase. Neither the Pokémon announcement nor the Mario Tennis demo nor whatever else. It's just natural growth week on week in anticipation for the Summer.
- Edit: forgot to comment on last week's drops and whew, bad drops for Caligula and Persona Dancing are bad. Rest in peace.

Btw, now that NIS' Vita saga is over, let's take a look at the results (I know GameDataLibrary takes Famitsu numbers):
001.png

With 4.519 copies sold on Vita, Liar Princess comes in below Shin Hayarigami 2 and right above Cladun Sengoku on this list.

There are plenty, they just make way less obvious sense as games :/

I still don't understand why the Black Clover game is a thing / releasing within two weeks of the Boku No Hero one.

Lol, such a weird comparison, especially when you consider the gulf in reception.

E3 could give a much bigger boost for Switch than Pokemon announcement especially if preorders for some key titles of next quarter open after it.

PS4 will keep tracking lower than PS3 for a while, the difference between them will be reduced more and more.

That is because this is comparing february sales to may sales (different launch periods) and first quarter is much stronger sales period. Comparing month to month PS4 is selling more than PS3 did back in May 2011 so PS3 will stop its gaining soon enough.

Wow, Liar Princess did even better than BlazBlue! O.o

17.418 copies vs 15.967 copies

Liar Princess apparently is a bit short, but it looks good. I hope it'll have some decent legs. I have a soft spot for NIS and their indie-like titles.
