The groups 'Bring Back UnderGRADS' on Facebook announced yesterday that they've secured the rights from MTV to make a movie!

Achievement unlocked!!! I am thrilled to share the news that we have secured the film rights from MTV to produce an Undergrads movie! One step closer, guy (slurp).

Count me the hell in, I still watch the cartoon on a yearly basis, hopefully this could bring a season 2 on the table at some point! If they're planning to Kickstart/Crowdfund it I'll make sure to share the info here and will definitely pledge.

Make me eat a banana with a condom on it if old.

I loved this show when I was younger. I'm not sure if bringing it back after so many years would work.

Hey guy.

I loved this show when I was younger. I'm not sure if bringing it back after so many years would work.

I adored the show when I was younger as well. It's aged poorly in the wake of today's cultural advancements. Most of the cast would be completely alt-right just based on their characteristics. Nice guy Nitz, Rocko being drunk and sexually assaulting women, Gimpy would be a 4 Chan poster trying to dox women and call swat on folks. Cal is okay I guess. But yeah, the show is very uh... white?

I would love Clone High to come back though, that show has aged beautifully

Meh, I don't really agree, each of the four were pretty much an caricature of their respective fields.

Nitz: Overly shy guy, overanalyst of anything said to him.
Rocco: Major douchebag, sexist and racist but gets constantly shat on in the show for that, rightfully so.
Cal: Cal.
Gimpy: The go-to Star Wars/video game geek who doesn't/rarely leaves his room. He gets his lesson about women when he got hacked by SHE Prime.

Your post just assumed what they would be today, honestly. I don't see how I would identify anyone else except Rocco as Alt-Right. But Rocco does a great job at mocking these guys. :lol

I think something good can be built based on their identities, considering they would be used properly and as long they're faithful to the original material.

Man, the show aired in 2001. That's crazy.
Also, just looked at the Wikipedia and didn't realize the creator voiced the main characters (plus the Dougler). No wonder this feels so personal for him.

I can't believe it, I lost all hope after that short Season 2 rally he tried to do back in the MySpace days. I love the show but I don't know if this movie will do any good, the show had a downer ending but that's how life is so it was a perfect way for the show to end. Also the creator only ever went to Freshmen in college, how would he know what life is like in college after that? What made the show work is he put his experiences of his freshmen year in the show.

I wonder if they'll try too hard to make it "fit in" with today's shows. The creator already mentioned in one convention a long time ago that it'd just take place in the current year. I gotta give it to the creator of the show, he's been trying to do this since the show was cancelled.

Eh, I loved the show, but I dunno if this will work. It was definitely a product of its time.

Now, the real crime was Clone High not being renewed.

That show did almost perfectly capture the college experience in the early 2000s (When I was in college). I would love to see how a sequal would pan out.

I liked the show for its liberal use of Reggie and the Full effect.

Nitz should be renamed Putz.

Okay but how do we get more Downtown? That show is outstanding.

True art is unappreciated.

It's all on YouTube and I think the creator has a blog where he's selling a DVD of it. Great show that deserves a bigger following.

I might jump on that DVD set, I'm just about to re-watch the first episode, this will be a deep throwback in time.
Can verify on the DVD set. I have one. He signs it too.

It's a loophole where it's a "promo disc" for Titmouse, so you only pay for the media cost and shipping. He doesn't make any money off it, he just wants the show to be out there.

(Blog post is from 2007, but he's still offering it in 2018.)

Do you have pics of it? It would be cool to see how it looks.

Seeing this on Facebook made me so happy and hopeful.

I was obsessed with this and Clone High back in the day and was pretty upset over what happened with Nitz & Jesse (who I had a pretty big crush on) and kept hoping year after year for a season 2 to resolve things only be disappointed.

While I'll likely never get to see a follow up to Freeks & Geeks, Firefly or Clone High, seeing this movie whenever it happens will complete the obsession that started in high school with this show just like the Hey Arnold Movie did.

This has "Better left in the past" written all over it but at the same time the drive and passion for this from the creator is laudable and that is worth more than whatever meager misgivings I might have.

Risk is a game of global domination. Launch attacks and defend your territories by rolling six-sided dice. Whoever has the highest dice roll wins, the loser loses an army.
The second highest dice are matched up and whoever has the second highest dice wins. The loser loses an army. Claim the territory and move your troops.
Receive a card at the end of your turn. Trade a match set of three for additional armies.

Best episode of that series and don't attempt to correct me.

I grew up watching it on Canadian TV (Teletoon IIRC) and it was Pete Williams doing all the voices-- never heard that Canada had a re-dub of the show?

Anyways I am super psyched for Undergrads to come back. I was around 10 years old when it aired and fucking LOVED it. I remember back in 2012 when one of my college professors was away sick, I put the show up on the projector and we just chilled and watched the show instead lol.

It's crazy how that Pete has been working this hard for this long to get the rights to his show back.

Edit: Here is a panel Pete held a few years ago talking about Undergrads and his attempts to bring the show back and getting the rights back from MTV.

Wait what the fuck???? lol
Hmm? Pete Williams is the creator of the show and did all the VO for all the main characters. I'm saying I'm not aware that Canada had it's own dub, to my knowledge it's the same dub that aired in the States.

This is the same dub that we got in Canada.

I thought remembered Pete saying something about needing a separate VA for one of the characters to get around Canadian content laws.

Might've been at the 2012 Calgary Panel he did with Josh Cagan and Andy Rheingold. I can't find any videos of it online though. It's very likely I'm mistaken.

If anyone can find that panel please send me the link, thanks.

Edit:
Not the ConBravo 2013 one. I went to that one :D

Oh... lol. Honestly, I could see that being true.

But if everyone is saying the dubs are the same and I can't find anything on IMDB/internet about an alternate VA, it's quite likely I'm just not remembering properly.

Now, the real crime was Clone High not being renewed.

Fucking right?

Blame MTV for giving into India being upset at the depiction of Ghandi.

Lord and Miller + Bill Lawrence, and that cast was God tier. Truly underrated.

I miss Butlertron.

Time-stamped. At 41:50 it shows footage of Pete in Toronto (assuming he was recording voice work).

Edit: Not saying that there wasn't a Canadian-only dub, but if there was it certainly wasn't what I watched on Teletoon as a kid.

I can see that. It was animated by a Canadian company, and co-financed/produced by Teletoon, but since it takes place in the US and was created by an American, they probably insisted on a talent quota.

Well said and I hope it starts a trend xD

A whole bunch of those late night shows were totally excellent. Leaving Undergrads and Clone High like that was such a mean tease. Wasn't there some interest to do this with Clone too?

Wow, am I late seeing this. I am hyped!
There is likely no such thing. I was very likely mistaken.
No, Pete explained the whole Canadian dub thing during the Calgary Expo panel. I was there 2 rows from the front. Pete didn't even expect half the room to be filled. He was wrong. Dozens of people in line couldn't get in.

Anyway, IIRC they had to fill a quota of Canadian talent and Rocko and some minor roles were redubbed. He said Rocko's replacement was really close though.

FUCKING AWESOME THANKS.

I thought I was going crazy because I couldn't find anything on that or any videos of the panel.
