Seems interesting but I got eighty other games to play so I'll just wait for a good deal. Besides I'm kind of indifferent toward Vampires, need more Werewolves.

Is this closer to Vampire The Masquerade with a huge openish story lots to explore, lots of fun/trouble to get into, or something kinda dull and mundane?

Really want to get this tomorrow but I may wait a bit because I'm in the middle of a Witcher 3 play through and I don't want to put that down. Will be buying this eventually though either later this month or may save it as we get closer to Halloween.

Not really, VTM is a tabletop game in video game format. This is more a third person action/stealth game with A LOT of choices to make which affect the game world.

Just a heads up.

If anyone is planning on going back after they finish for the collectables, do investigations you missed or just have fun feeding on everyone. It doesn't look like you can. Loading the save after you finish just puts you back in the same place and you can't get back out.

Definitely getting hyped now.

Thinking about playing the game as close to a choice-by-choice basis as possible. Rather than a run with clear outlines, like a "no kill" or "kill em all" pkaytrhrough, I'll just take it as it comes.

Question for someone who has beaten it: how many Chapters are there? I'm on 5 and starting to mainline to get my review done.

Anyone playing on PS4? The stuttering seems really bad in the early areas and some of the loadings aren't handled so well. Really hope this is just some early game jank.

Review thread is going to be great either way but it doesn't look like people even know it's happening. Step up your game Focus! This isn't Farm Simulator with it's hardcore fanbase regardless.

These early impressions are sounding really good.

DONTNOD are fast becoming my favourite Devs. Remember me was a rough diamond with poor combat but excellent world building, music atmosphere and the memory remixing (which was turned into a full game aka life is strange)... Also easily the best looking DX9 game I've ever played.

Life is strange... Well it's my GOAT ... Incredible experience all round.

Now Vampyr sounding like the best of LiS and remember me with serviceable combat and more RPG ... My interest is greatly piqued...

Just need to hear the PC port is ok and what KB+M is like, as long as the impressions hold out I'll likely bite.

I feel like there is enough buzz and hype about the game. Especially in last 2 days.

It's entirely anecdotal, but I was in a local Gamestop on Saturday, and there wasn't even an empty "Coming soon" space filler. No branding at all there.

I did see that they're running ads on the PS Store though, so that's not nothing. And with a name like "Vampyr," it probably does a lot of the marketing on its own in a space like that. Like "Oh, word, a vampire game is on my console?"

Yeah, I feel like this game is being talked about quite a bit.

I'm from a region where I don't really see actual marketing for even the biggest games, though, so my point of reference is just internet presence, and in that way it doesn't seem lacking. Maybe people used to seeing those huge ads for Sony games feel like this one basically doesn't exist.

The game is #1 on Steam right now, and among top sellers on Amazon. I am not too worried about the game sales wise tbh (people tend to underestimate Focus in terms of sale performances).

Also, finished Vampyr one hour ago. Embargo and all but what a journey.

I can live with a bit of jank if the atmosphere, world, story and RPG elements are good. How is the character customization? Any loot/gear?

I guess it's their budget. And also publisher. I never saw FHI really promoting any of their games.

Vampyr is currently #1 on Steam and it's probably doing good for PS4, XB1. I also saw few nice retail promotions in many countries. So i am not sure really.

I think that many ppl are waiting for reviews and impressions. Maybe having review embargo on release day wasn't good decision? I think that game will do good, both critically and commercially but having reviews published at least 2 days before the release would have been better imo.

That's how I usually do my first playthrough of games with lots of choices as well. It's when I re-play them that I go in with a clear goal.

Yo thanks to everyone who tuned into the stream earlier. It's been great reading the (generally) positive impressions from early players here, hope the game is cool for the rest of you still waiting! 2 hours!

The general response by players and reviewers in this thread seems very positive. More than a few "step forward for the genre" style comments too

Please make sure you guys get the pre-order keys out to your partners, otherwise it'll be 2 hours + a few days like with The Council. >_<
