Anyone here using this Monitor for console gaming? Or what's the general consensus on this Monitor?

This is 1080p for something you are going to sit next too like 2-3' away. I find 1080p is too soft on 27" displays. 1440p on 27" are the sweet spots for monitors as far as visuals vs performance vs price imo. 1440p on 27" is ~110ppi which is pretty damn sharp at that distance. So long story short, almost $400 for a 1080p could probably be spent elsewhere for better in 2018.

I definitely prefer HDR to Dolby Vision on my B6. Maybe they have improved it on the more recent sets, but the dynamic metadata of DV means some scenes look awful. HDR is consistently good.

Ok, it's official. I upgraded to a OLED55E7. I managed to activate 4:4:4 settings. But I mainly use it for gaming, should switch to regular mode? What settings would anyone recommend? Thank you advance and sorry if it has been posted already, but there's over 15k posts and I could only read so many.

So I'm going to have the money saved up to buy an OLED (or high-end LED/QLED) some time this year, probably sometime during the Summer, but I'm not too sure when exactly. Seeing all the clearance deals and price drops right now is making me feel like this:

e9e86Ut.gif

My main worry right now is that by the time I can afford one all that'll be available are brand new overpriced 2018 models instead of the relatively reasonably priced 2016/17 models available now.

I sent my TCL R6 55" back due to the replacement having dead pixels. I went into Costco to check out a tv that was a little more expensive but close in price. About to walk out I noticed a 65" mu8000 display model on a cart. 700 bucks. Had to get it. Still comes with the factory warranty, costco warranty and additional warranty for using my Costco card. I was told it would still come with the 125 Google play credit but I'm not holding my breath on that. I filled out the form for it so we will see. Thing is beautiful, bigger and a better deal.

I don't think you will be able to do 60fps games in 4K with it set to 4:4:4. Isn't it capped at 30 for bandwidth reasons?

Got an unexpected steal last night at Best Buy:

Went in to look into open box/haggle for the $500 sale that ended after Monday for the TCL P605. My 2014 1080p TV developed a small line of dead pixels and I figured it wasn't a good time to upgrade.

They have the new 6 series on display but P605 models stocked underneath it. Rep told me it would be the same price for each ($599), and I decided to find whatever I could to price match, but wouldn't spend more than the $500 and didn't feel like dropping $600+ on there been one.

I got a little salty when he said they only price match MSRP and P605 model (which only Best Buy sells) and asked for a GM. He came over, corrected the rep, and go me a $478 price match from BrandsMart for the P605.

I pay for everything since that's an incredible deal, pull my cart out front and they load it into my truck.

I didn't realize until I got home and unloaded the box that they gave me the new 6 series P615 model instead of the 605 for $478.

Such a crazy deal and now I'm on board with the 4K/HDR bandwagon. Now I just need to update my receiver/PS4...

I really like DV, but just like active HDR (dynamic tone mapping) above black gets raised, and it's supposedly just an DTM HDR10 thing, but it isn't, looks exaggerated on DV too, except you can't toggle it on and off to check, brightness 49 sorts it well enough though.

Downside to lights out viewing, you see EVERYTHING....

Ever since I heard about the update that messes up the black levels when it came to the series 6 models of LG OLED TVs, I stopped checking for updates. It's been more than a year now since I last updated my TV and I'm wondering if they fixed it or is it still the same? because if it's still fucked then I might as well stay like this. Mine is an E6(EU). 55".

Arrested Develoment habve this too, slight raise in the black level, but its very subttle, like its was mastered in 0.03 nits or something like that, the picture still looking awasome.

this only reaffirms that most content are still mastered in high end LCDs and they can look a little wrong in perfect blacks OLEDS.

It's weird though, as it seems to hit already above black quite hard, so if a film is mastered incorrectly, then it's made even worse by DTM HDR10 and DV, odd that bog standard HDR10, fares the best, and this hasn't been brought up by the cali pros, just that only DTM HDR10 does it, which isn't true.

I was worried that the OLED wouldn't be bright enough for me but after viewing it last night in a completely dark room no way do I need a brighter TV. I had to turn the OLED light down into the 20s because that shit is just too bright. Do you guys keep Contrast fixed at 100? I left it at that as per RTings. The HDR "specular highlights" in Gears 4 (I think that's the proper term) still looked great despite the low light level.

Sorry I dont know where else I can ask this question and I cant see a thread about PC Monitors ... So I have the LG 32UD99 4K HDR Monitor -

However I cant for the life for me find out the best settings to calibrate this monitor, I have no clue how to do this and even RTINGS doesnt have a guide on the numbers and dials I can set it to lol. Can anyone help me out by telling me what I should everything for? or does anyone have this monitor? I swear it feels like I'm the only one of the planet that owns this because I cant find any settings for it anywhere - I'd love to know the best HDR and regular settings for it ... Using for my PS4 Pro.

Here's the monitor in question -

In HDR Oled Light 100 and contrast 100 its correct because this will push the max capabilities of the Display

same with OLED Light 50 in Dolby Vision.

make sure that you are using the proper cinema setting in a dark room(aka technicolor HDR o Cinema in dolby vision) vivid or standart in HDR will push blue too hight and it will murder your eyes.

SDR its differente and high oled light can be too much on the eyes, l run oled light 40 myself.

I have this monitor, it's pretty great yeah? The pixel density is beast. Using it with my MBP for work.

For SDR, I am using

Picture Mode: Custom
Gamma: Mode 2
Response Time: Fast
Brightness: 30 (change this for ambient light, and note that mine is pretty low as again it's for work)
Aspect Ratio: 1:1

Everything else default

For HDR, I'm going to plug my Pro in real quick and see what I used... gonna be honest though, the monitor ain't too hot for HDR. Can't change any settings regardless of picture mode.

Yeah, I had to remove the IMG-tags and I think I removed too much on the first one. But thanks for the answer, it's very likely that it's the channel. Comedy Central (Netherlands) has terrible bitrate as far as I know. The OLED stutter is also more noticeable there.
Yeah, seems like it's probably just the channel.

You're a life saver ... Picture mode custom? if you dont mind, tell all the changes you made to your custom picture settings lol, like the reds/blues/greens should be at what number.

So the monitor isnt good for HDR? What I've noticed is that for some games it's way too bright .... Far Cry 5, the nights looked too bright, same with AC Origins. ... But some games it looks noticeably good.

But yeah, I love the monitor, was a huge upgrade from my previous. I only just wish I had enough space in my room to put up an actual 55 inch HDR capable tv or something ... The monitor was my only choice for the size.

I just watched the Annihilation 4K HDR disc and holy shit, I cannot recommend this enough to anyone else who is a sci-fi buff. I loved this film. It has instantly become a top 5 demo disc for me as well. Highly recommend. Some people will hate it too.

Anyone of the A1 owners experianced a sluggish control when he boots the TV? My remote control often does not respond for multiple seconds, especially when I boot the TV. Then it just goes back to normal. This is a really weird issue.

When I think back I generally started to have weird issues after the latest firmware update. At first my TV started to crash when I watched movies from a hard drive (luckily only there and not when I watch movies over the PS4 or some other device, which makes me assume the problem is with android TV) and now my remote control is sluggish as hell.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Hey there, it sounds really stupid but I had the same problem with my XE930 (sluggish). The batteries were nearly empty from the start !!! And i changed the animation time of the menus plus the few things Vincent suggested in his vid. Also disable the top banner. Hope it helps.

Edit: firmware V6.5603?

Yes, the latest one.

The funny thing is that the controls are only sluggish for like 30-60 seconds when I boot the TV. It even goes as far that when I turn off the TV I can't start it again for a few seconds (?).... Yesterday placed my Switch away again (put it behind my screen a few weeks ago) because I thought that it may interfere with the signal and also took out the batteries of the remote control and put them in again (same batteries) and for now it seems ok again.... I'm so confused.

I'm pretty sure you can't set the PS4 to output 4:4:4 anyway.

I wish I knew , but I honestly have been lurking this thread for the past few nights trying to find answers. So I ended up just asking.

Yes you can force the PS4 to output 4:4:4 at 4k60, at 8-bit depth.

Obviously this does not support HDR, but when a HDR game comes on, it will switch to 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 at 10-bit depth minimum.

Okay, I'm pretty sure I'm wrong here, but I'm no native speaker and just don't manage to find the right search terms. So, I'm posting because of a 2.1 sound problem I have with my mother-in-laws cheap tv (Telefunken). When a external devicde (be it headphones or a 2.1 system like I just bought her, one which you can only regulate on the subwoofer) is input, the stupid tv does not, as normal, shut off tv sound and lets you regulate the external sound with the remote, but instead has both osunds active and only lets you change the volume of the headphone-socket in the menu. That's annoying and might be too difficullt. Now my girlfriend had an interesting idea, but I cannot find anything, not even in my mother tongue German. Her idea was if there is some kind of device that is placed between the tv's headphone socket and the sounds systems cable and which has an infrared receiver and a small remote that only has 3 buttons, volume up, down, and mute. That way, even though two remotes are stupid as well, its at least easier to regulate the volume. If I had the money, I would now change the 2.1 system for one with a remote, but I cant find one I could afford. Same goes obviously for a tv with better settings (it just wont work otherwise, I tried several hours). I hope someone can help me or show me the right thread :D

Please, any one?

The 30/60 sec is the internet connection plus, YouTube recommendations etc. Have it when I restart the TV manually. Otherwise with LAN it's good.

When you power off I think, maybe some oled user can help, it's a compensation circle ?

I bought the best batteries available and it's good for 8 months now.
