These rooms are very noice! It took me while to figure out that was the same Space Invaders wall in these two pictures.

My new gaming room is going through a bit of an existential crisis. I converted a 12'X19' garage for the primary purpose of a gaming room and secondary as a home theater. I was going to add gaming posters and shelves to display all of my games and consoles, but now that it's finished and rather simple, I'm starting to think it might be better if I keep it as clutter-free as possible. The room is just not that big now with the recliners and 100" screen. I still have an arcade machine in there and some gaming stuff, but I might not add the shelves. I wish the room was a little bigger, but first world problems and all that...

Wow. What an amazing set up! I'm curious, how did you choose which screenshots to put on the walls?
IIRC they were from a videogame art show.

Correct! These were some of the assets from the art show I did for the Smithsonian American Art Museum called "The Art of video Games". Each image is a still from the 80 core games in the exhibition. Additionally, they are grabs from games I played, so they are extra personal!

I've been working on getting some LED lighting for my set up going. After switching brand of strips, and controller, I finally have something working with all the colors the strips supports. Next I need to get the wires taken care of, and get the controller working with the app for my phone. That and getting another controller, and PSU setup so I can do the stand under the tv as well.

Something of an update / upgrade: switched my sub to a Genelec 7380A. I had been eyeing it for a while. Cables are a bit of a mess, having run a few more here and there. Not the greatest quality of pictures, but here's some:

Sweet! Lovely vibe Kanuuna, unusually tall room which is nice. Love the Eames lounger and Genelecs. Lol @ podcast.

That reminds me, just got my new back channels last week:

Finally got schedule for the repairs, floors will be replaced and other works done July and August, and we get to move back in early September.

Some browsers / platforms / antivirus don't seem to like Cubeupload.

Nice! Really looking forward to seeing the finished setup - I imagine it'll be pretty photogenic especially at dusk with that view.

I had expected to hear or make this joke less with this than with the previous one, but yeah, it admittedly stands out placed where it is. I do want to try and shift things around at some point.

As I mentioned in the inaugural Era Gaming Setup thread, we moved to a new flat in London early 2017. While our previous flats have been designed ourselves, this time we commissioned a renowned London interior design practice to design the flat for us, with a very detailed brief that described our personal style. As entrepreneurs, we simply didn't have the time to do the research required, source the furniture and install everything ourselves - our time was better spent on our companies. But we still wanted that it would feel like a flat we could have designed ourselves.

Soon after moving in, we decided we should commission professional photography of the flat while the flat was still new and slick, with our favourite photographer (PM me for details). The shoot was intended to be spread over two weeks, coordinated around weather patterns and sunrise / sunset times, to make most out of the space.

Unfortunately, disaster struck between the first and second week of the shoot. In November 2017, a huge leak from the penthouse above us caused a lot of damage - over £100K worth in our flat. Ever since, we have been fighting with lawyers and insurers to get everything fixed. Thus, the second week of the shoot never happened.

After a lot of drama, the reworks in the flat are finally confirmed to begin in July. All floors are going to come off, walls are going to be redecorated, speakers repositioned, a new walk-in-robe is being made, just to mention a few things. The flat will look very different after the works. Much better.

The first set of pictures, even if incomplete, has now been published, and I thought I will share it with Era. We'll do a new shoot after the repairs, detailing more of the different spaces. I do apologise for the lack of gaming setup photos for now.

Here are the photos we shot last Autumn:

Lounge and dining area - the heart of the flat, where we spend most of our time. A Genelec 7.0 system provides sound to the space, with a three Genelec 8351s in the front, and four ceiling-mounted Genelec 8340s at the rear. The TV is Sony KD85XD8505BU, chosen for its low input latency and high quality 4K HDR image.

The Genelec speakers where chosen because they allow us to hear the video games closest to what the likes of Capcom or Bioware intended. The large amount of reflective glass surfaces was a particular challenge, but Genelec used their software to minimise intrusive artefacts resulting from the hard surfaces in the space.

Snug - This is the most indulgent area in the flat. We designed it as a comfy late night escape, a cave where one can retire to late at night when others go to sleep. A Sony 4K TV on the left is hooked up to a Super NES Classic and a NES Classic, making this the classic gaming space. This space also hosts a headphones listening station, with a Cambridge Audio streamer (Tidal/Spotify), Schiit Yggdrasil DAC, Schiit Ragnarok amp, and Hifiman HE-1000 headphones.

View from Snug to Lounge - snug terrace is designed to be our 'cigar terrace'. I smoke one cigar every two months with a good friend, always here with a glass of whisky. Reindeer hides remind us of our native Finland.

Kitchen and breakfast bar - I often sit around the breakfast bar with my iPad, reading Era. TV and front Genelecs in the lounge can be seen on the left side.

Breakfast terrace - This is at the front of the lounge. It's very often windy in the City, so getting to have breakfast here is a rare treat.

Guest room - I've spent more time of my life in hotels than one should. Our guest room was modelled based on my favourite features of hotels. The bed is large, and has USB and charging slots on the side. A study desk with a comfy chair provides a space for any urgent work. A power jack is hidden under a hatch, so that laptops and iPads can be charged while working. Light blocking curtains darken the room for a good night's sleep.

Study - this is our home office. Printer, scanner and shredder are hidden out of sight. A bespoke standing desk was built, accommodating a mechanism inside it. The iMac is used for work, and a little bit of Dota 2. The framed poster above the iMac features the original technical drawings of Sega Megadrive, dated 1989.

A total of 16 Genelec AIC-25 in-ceiling speakers are installed in the various rooms, to provide a common sound space around the flat. With Spotify Connect, we can play music straight from the Spotify app to them.

So that's where we were last October / November. We'll get new photos shot this year, and barring any leaks of biblical proportions, I'll post photos of the upgraded flat in the 2019 thread.
Wow, this looks stunning! The Genelecs look even better in white than they did in black. Can't wait to see the final set of pictures with the TV hooked up as well!

Got my Kickstarted DasKeyboard today finally. The opensource software is a little buggy, but I'm enjoying typing on it very much. It's using Zulu keys, so they are almost silent silent in comparison to my MX blue keyboard. The palm rest feels amazing. I don't know what kind of material it's made out of, but it firm and soft all at the same time. I also traded in my XB1 elite controller back to Gamestop since the rubber backing was practically falling apart. They actually gave me $70 for it. I was actually thinking about selling it to a coworker for that much. Anyway... I went with some grey ones and picked up a charging station for them. Other than that, everything else remains the same.

My cable management is a little messy because I was rushing to try out the keyboard.

That's it Era, all my consoles and AV are all disconnected, plants wheeled away, curtains taken down. Sad day, but I try to remind myself that it'll be better than original when it's all done.

Works will begin tomorrow with demolition, and be complete early September. Until that... I'll be all Switch and iPad for the summer.

Ain't that bad. Plenty of cool stuff on the switch. It't just two months away. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Thanks! Love seeing people's new setups!

This post was correct. I am having a blast with the Switch. Here is my temporary apartment and setup, I managed to find a small Airbnb in the same building half way down. The flat is tiny, about 500sqft, one bed and this space that quadruples as entrance hall, lounge, kitchen and dining space. It's a lovely place however, I would have no issues living here permanently:

After a month, I actually think I could live with Switch as my only console. There's so much to play. Splatoon and Fortnite are bottomless time sinks, Xenoblade is only half way, there is Zelda and Mario post game content still to play, DKCTF is hard as nails, Super Meat Boy is insanely good, and I haven't even got started on Octopath Travelled, Sushi Striker or Captain Toad. GOAT console.

I ended up making the 4K leap with a B7 plus a new AVR despite having every intention to hold out until HDMI 2.1 spec TVs. The price seemed too good to pass up on, though I expect the C8 will hit the similar figures come holiday season.
Feels like I can finally justify my PS4 Pro purchase. And I guess it's also nice that I can finally watch some of the UHD Blu-ray I already had on the shelf. I took a couple pictures, but the set really looks barely any different in a wide view. The AVR is a bit more slim, and the TV, despite being 65" (versus the 60" ZT) is nearly identical in it's size to the Panny plasma due to the significantly smaller bezel on the LG.

I use the chair up at the desk for normal PC usage / FPS etc. Or reclined at the back of the room for console / big picture mode / TV. There used to be shelving along that wall, hence the plugs.

Moving into a house in December. Got $500+ in gift cards from our wedding but they're tied up at a certain retailer that doesn't offer a whole lot in terms of appliances.

Thinking about using it on a new 4K set but idk if I could even fit the set I want for our future home in our current space.

Soon I'll be joining you guys with cool set ups!

You north americans are so lucky with your basements. Only really old houses in uk have basements. No new build houses have basements as they are illegal due to health and safety.
