So for some positivity. I'm going to try and find something to scratch my Pokémon itch till Gen 8 arrives.
Thinking about Ultra Moon.

It really doesn't take more than a few bad apples for a group to get labeled a name. Source: am Latino :P.
Because they probably don't play most Pokemon games? It has been 14 years since the first remake of R/B.The point is, you already have four games set in Kanto, you have two bonus gens that pander to the 151. Why isn't that enough?
Just go back and replay those games. HG/SS are literally still up to date with regards to mechanics and modernization.Because they probably don't play most Pokemon games? It has been 14 years since the first remake of R/B.
9 years since HG/SS thats enough time for old timers to crave another nostalgia trip. I know I had the craving with X/Y.
Honestly, what I expect and would make me happy is keeping the new evolutions and pre-evolutions added after the fact. Onix evolves into Steelix, Golbat evolves into Crobat, etc. Is that really so much to ask for in 2018?
For some people it looks more like envy than frustration, many people did not bel I ever the gen 8 would come this year, they were right, however since this game, that more likely than not did not delayed the gen 8 game is not made to pander their specific tastes, they go on a tirade against a game that was not intended for them, and had the game excluded something they don't care about they would be as quiet or defensive as those genwunners they refer to.Gen 1 is being pandered too exclusively with this game.
Every other Gen is being excluded.
Can you really not see why that frustrates some people?
Your not hearing from genwunners because this is exactly what they asked for. Why don't you go check out some old Pokémon threads and see how many times people complain about later gens looking like Digimon and all that?
Yeah I think it will once we get a look at the next game, just so we can get an idea of what's going on with the series. Pokemon is just kind of in a weird place right now and I think longtime fans are feeling a bit lost/antsy.Yeah, that's fair. I can definitely understand how feeling left out can make people feel kind of bitter, especially if they were the ones who stuck with the franchise through the good and the bad. I can see where the anger comes from, but hopefully it will die down once the details of the 2019 Pokemon game come out....around 2019 haha. It will be a long year!
Pokemon 2019 is Red and Blue 2.Yeah I think it will once we get a look at the next game, just so we can get an idea of what's going on with the series. Pokemon is just kind of in a weird place right now and I think longtime fans are feeling a bit lost/antsy.
I could throw that back at you. Don't like the Gen 1 pandering in LGP/LGE? Go back and play the games you prefer.Just go back and replay those games. HG/SS are literally still up to date with regards to mechanics and modernization.
The point is, you already have four games set in Kanto, you have two bonus gens that pander to the 151. Why isn't that enough?
It kinda does in Pokemon, as shown with gen three being the only other generation to get a named, Hoenn Babies. There is a reason why the "Too much water" phrase exists along with the "overabudance of trumpets".
wouldn't surprise me lol
God if only.
So gen 2 pandering soon for sure, right? We won't be forgotten? Kris will come back?
... no?
holding off on opinions for this until more details. Could be an okay subseries if the gameplay changes hold up.
I am getting flashbacks from the Labo reveal thread where hardcore gamers were passed for a product not intended for them.
A better comparison would be in the alternate timeline where we never got the Metroid Prime Trilogy, and instead got MP1 with motion controls, and then instead of MP4 getting announced, we got a MP1 reimagining announced. Why should it be? I love Metroid Prime, but we got 3 games already - should I have protested when it was announced we were getting a fourth so that the 2D fans could get their turn? It just seems like a silly standard to me.
You really need a break if you're getting all pent up from this. You got Gen 8 ahead of you. This game is clearly not for you. It's not pandering. Thank you.So your just actively trolling people at this point?
I've explained multiple times to you my frustration yet you seem to just ignore it so you can go "lol fanboys mad" without listening to any of the actual complaints people have.
Yes some people are being ridiculous but don't throw everyone who's upset by certain decisions in there with them.

Paper mario 6 is sticker star 2
I mean that's probably true.
That's Color Splash.
You have a fair point that I should relax but the bolded is just straight up false. You really need a break if you're getting all pent up from this. You got Gen 8 ahead of you. This game is clearly not for you. It's not pandering. Thank you.
At this point I'm just happy I have 64 and TTYD to play for all eternity.

Pokemon however has ALWAYS catered to all ages and audiences, so to have Let's Go openly reject hardcore fans feels like a slap in the face.
See this is what's most disappointing about Let's Go to me
Whether it's pandering or not is in the eyes of the beholder....since you know it's just a word with a negative connotation. You have a fair point that I should relax but the bolded is just straight up false.
What other reason is there to exclude 6 Gens of Pokémon other then to pander to lapsed Gen 1 fans?
Anyway my main issue was the needles "red and blue 2" comment. Just feels like needles snark at those who are frustrated.
This isn't just pandering anymore. It's the second remake of the damn games. It's Gen 4's turn for the remake. This isn't fair to the vast majority of the fan base who buys these games.I could throw that back at you. Don't like the Gen 1 pandering in LGP/LGE? Go back and play the games you prefer.
That's a disingenuous comparison and you know it. A more apt comparison would be if Retro did a full-on remake of Metroid Prime 1, then followed it with Metroid Prime 4 and 5 suddenly revisiting a lot of locations, bosses, and enemies from Metroid Prime 1, and then announcing another remake of Metroid Prime 1.Why should it be? I love Metroid Prime, but we got 3 games already - should I have protested when it was announced we were getting a fourth so that the 2D fans could get their turn? It just seems like a silly standard to me.
If only a hardcore Pokemon was in development and to be released next year...
People would actually be mad at this?
I disagree. Labo was an entirely new product, so it's fine that it was primarily targeted towards younger audiences.
Pokemon however has ALWAYS catered to all ages and audiences, so to have Let's Go openly reject hardcore fans feels like a slap in the face.

I haven't heard a single good reason yet why GF has made a good decision in excluding 656 Pokémon.
Whether it's pandering or not is in the eyes of the beholder....since you know it's just a word with a negative connotation.
Did you ever think of the people frustrated at you for guys crapping up this thread with the "le genwunner" stuff? I love all gens but I'm still excited for this game. I come here to discuss said game but now I gotta deal with gen warring crap. Your frustration is frustrating to me and a lot of people.
Not only that, but Ruby/Sapphire was incompatible with the previous games forcing the players at the time to basically get used to the new Pokemon or fuck off as there was no information on when/how earlier Pokemon would be available. (of course FR/LG would be announced not too much long later but yeah) It was pretty much the first dividing point in the fanbase I remember. No Eevee? No Charizard?? No Mewtwo???Back in 2002, original pokemon fans complained this pokemon looks like a Digimon:
That was basically when the whole "genwunner" thing started, way back 16+ years ago in the ancient year of 2002. I think a lot of you have forgotten the negative reaction a lot of Hoenn pokemon got when they were first revealed. Probably because then this continued every gen after,
One remake is typically enough for most fan bases.People would actually be mad at this?
Give me the Switch version damnnit.
Exactly. Gen 1 has never been excluded from the games. Even Gen 5 opened up in the post-game and allowed all the classic Pokemon to appear. As I said earlier this game is actively encouraging Gen wars by completely excluding 6 entire generations.
I understand your frustration at trying to discuss the game but frankly GF brought this upon themselves by excluding so much that people loved. Of course there going to be backlash from those who were left out.

Again, the last two gens were filled to the brim with Gen 1 pandering, so there is literally zero reason for anyone to assume Gen 8 will be any different. If you add on "while releasing a sequel literally the following year," sure? Like I'd understand all the frustration a lot more if the 2019 game hadn't been announced yet. But given that it has, it seems like an overreaction to me.
