Am I racist under the following idea:
She doesn't look black, but she does look like the female apes from Planet of the Apes? People say people look like other things all the time without the term racist being involved. I understand the negative term of monkey that hillbillies use for African Americans but I'm just saying...

It's disingenuous as fuck. Like I don't give a single fuck if the janitor or secretary of Enron lost their job, if it means the institution goes down than so be it.

I was just saying that when I go on Twitter or Facebook and see how people in the world are actually like this it makes me depressed and I wish that I lived in a time where people with these kinds of views didn't have this large audience available to them to spout this bullshit.
The language used in that press release is very unusual. Normally you would expect a much more passive voice "Unfortunately, due to some statements made by Ms Barr which are incompatible with our values here at ABC, The Rosanne Show has been cancelled", not "We cancelled her show" - that's straight up aggressive.
It's not just hillbillies. You can go anywhere in the US and find racist people who refer to black people as apes, gorillas, monkeys. This is well and widely known. Calling black people monkeys is a racist staple, and is well known to the majority of the country, especially someone Roseanne's age. Comparing a woman of color's appearance to any kind of ape is straight up racist.
Well, it aint like she can make things that much more worse for herself. Shes got plenty of money and free time to do nothing else for probably the next few decades or more.
It doesn't matter. A lot of people are oblivious to the fact that this is life of a working in the industry. Most jobs are jumped to and from. The crew will find work as they always do. Just like when shows amor on hiatus or when shows end, they will find work.
Regarding that link: they talk about people cutting off pieces of Jesse Washington. You just know some sick fucks down there have inherited pieces of a human being. Like, that stuff still exists.

Or, how about not entering a thread about someone being rightfully dropped from a network for a racist tweet and trying to defend it in a remarkably transparent way.
Trying to frame that as a "thought experiment" by saying "well the woman does look like an ape, that's totally not racist" is not only tone deaf but downplays the obvious racism exhibited here.
Calling a black person a monkey, ape, or any variation is racist, trying the get out of "I'm totally not racist" for saying it is not a valid defence.
Don't be ridiculous. How does saying someone looks like an ape in this very thread add to the discussion in any constructive way?
Edit: apologies for my first statement, however no 'benefit of the doubt' can be given to straight up racist, or attempts at racist humor, posts or comments.

Listening to BBC Radio 2 had a segment that addressed this a bit and a correspondent said that some of the cast had bailed out before the cancellation, so the show was dead before ABC made the final blow.
I can see Roseanne targeting those who left her out to dry because of this. I'm glad they actuality took action against her too because frankly the stench of racism spreads and it would be grossly unfair to put the cast on blast because of the actions of Roseanne herself.
