So...wait.

What do you do other than battle trainers if there are no wild Pokemon in the game??

You are sure pretty mad at people liking a game
I swear to god ive seen this awful backward ass statement said by multiple different people in the exact same way

disliking the entire franchise except the first entry isn't "liking a game". People don't like genwunners because they're dicks that do nothing but shit on everything they dont have nostalgia for. they are literally the opposite of "liking a game".

Another thing, legendaries better be battles. Defeat them and after that Go catch it.

One thing more annoying than the "genwunner" discussion is people dismissing any criticism of the game as "lmao so much salt". What the fuck?
...we barely know anything about the game yet except that they are employing mechanical changes

This reminds me of the wind waker days when people hate the game due to its graphical changes.
The games changes may make it super shallow, they may make it boring repetitive ,netc etc. But we dont know that yet. So yeah I dont understand criticizing the game until we see enough of it to get a real idea of its depth, game length etc.
That said, I can understand missing the old mechanics.b

my heart sunk when i read saw it's kanto again. then then i read pokemon go like catching, no wild battles and saw the 3ds graphics in higher resolution and something in me died.
this might be one of the biggest disappointments in all of my gaming life. the original pokemon were always in my top 10 games of all time and i've been dreaming of a real console RPG for years- just wow.

Possibly the most disappointed I've ever been with Nintendo.

And I say this as a gen 1 lover.

Just give us a real Pokémon game for switch :( let pogo be it's own thing.

Haha, That is what they are doing.

so dissapoint

Thought about that too. There are many options to balance challenge and streamlined catching

Honestly, all this "genwunner" talk seems like it come from some tribal fanboy war within the Pokemon fanbase.

You guys should realize people on the outside don't really care about "genwun pandering". No later gen Pokemon is a genuine bummer, but thankfully we are getting gen 8 next year.

I have never played a pokemon game for more than maybe 10 minutes (I hate handhelds) but I have always been intrigued by the idea and wanted to play it if it ever came to console. However, this looks a bit different with all that Pokemon Go stuff. Anyone know if this is a "real" pokemon game because if so it was going to be the first one I buy.
Yea it's going to be a "real" Pokemon game.

Call backs that focuses in only one gen instead of spreading the love to other generations. Pokemon is a 25 year old franchise and it being nostalgic on the same beats all the time can be annoying for fans who might be nostalgic for other generations. Gen 6 pandering felt ok as it also spread the love a little bit with other gens having a good presence and feeling like the 20th celebration game it was. Gen 7 focusing even more on Kanto just makes it worse.
Give me some gen 2 callbacks or gen 4!

GF runs a business, if for whatever reason gen1 evokes the strongest feelings among fans and non-fans, they will continue referencing those designs. They don't "pander" to anyone, they use their strongest, most recognizable designs as the backbone of the IP.

This looks fun. Looks like the Pokemon game most people dreamed of.

And wild Pokemon battles literally make no sense. The Pokemon GO format of trying to throw the right ball at them at the right angle and distance etc makes more sense, although I think there could be some wild Pokemon where a trainer appears behind them during the scene change.

So you just... see wild Pokemon? Like in GO?

Where's the excitement then? Sounds weird. I liked being surprised. But oh the other hand I hated random battles.

The people complaining about 'genwunners' have always been more obnoxious and vocal than the people they're complaining about, it's ridiculous.

Lmao, they've literally said there's gonna be a separate traditional Pokémon RPG on the Switch next year. You all are hilarious.

I am a consumer, I dont care about them running a bussiness, I care about my enjoyment of the game which is what every consumer should do.
Their focus on grabbing nostalgic bites of people that left the franchise after gen 1 and will not stay unless they are the main focus is also not a growing factor in the long term as it will just create a toxic relationship where you will end up suffering much more heavy franchise fatigue as the focus is always on the same set of pokemon.

Edit: I think i have to repeat I am not angry with this game I am just giving my opinion on the case of the focus on gen 1 was detrimental for gen 6 and 7.
