They are (or they try to sell it as) a new branch of mainline titles, not the classic mainline titles. Just look at them, lol.
For the record I agree with the argument about the sprites, GameFreak got less inventive with silhouettes and posing, ending up in the generic bouncing of Gen V. Plus, they were more at ease with going "off-model".
This tale deserves a thread TBH. Maybe once all of the new Pokémon threads have died down, but yeah, it's a great way to look at it.As I have said already, this game's existence is a good thing. It conveys that Game Freak understands that the broader casual audience and the core audience are different and possibly irreconcilable, and they are willing to make two sets of games to appeal to both, rather than trying to water down the mainline games in a misguided attempt to chase the casual audience.
Entire announcement felt like a buy-in for Pokemon Go players and not the general RPG crowd.
Traditional RPGs don't really need anything beyond Confirm and Deny buttons, and even the second option can be forsaken with additional menu prompts. Plus, it looks like the button in the Pokéball doubles as a stick. How do you play with the poke ball? Catching I understand but living around and interfering with the world? Video made it look like that's all you need
The poke ball working as a go plus is good - I can imagine my daughter using it and getting back into go
Random encounters are one of the worst parts of these gamesI don't like that they took out random encounters. What the fuck is wrong with them.....
Like i write before, i think pokeball work as pedometer, so you can level up(maybe non the only option but the faster)If we cant battle wild pokemon, then how will we level up our pokemon? Trainer battles usually cant be redone. This leads me to believe you can fight wild pokemon if you have a pokemon following you.
Random encounters have no place in game design in 2018. You only have like 20 pokemon games to play with random encounters, it's time the series moved forward and improved.I don't like that they took out random encounters. What the fuck is wrong with them.....
This is a mainline pokemon game, gen 8 will debut late 2019Sorry, just woke up, and I'm sure this was already answered (but 67 pages).
is this the mainline pokemon game announced last E3? Or just a spin-off?
According to Game Freak it IS apparently mainline game, but NOT the one that was announced at E3. The one that was announced at E3 is coming in the second half of next year.Sorry, just woke up, and I'm sure this was already answered (but 67 pages).

It's a core entry, but they are releasing a new core/"corier" Pokémon game in 2019. So make of that what you will.Sorry, just woke up, and I'm sure this was already answered (but 67 pages).

You see the Pokemon walking around the fields.I was all in until they revealed the catching method is exactly like Pokemon Go and the fact you don't battle Pokemon to catch them. Also I don't understand the OP that there are no wild encounters? Does that mean that there are sprite dotted everywhere that you can avoid or am o being stupid?
Can you even pre-order these yet? I need at least two :)
Sure I understand, but given how they've presented us with these games I have little doubt the original title alluded to on E3 2017 is in fact the 2019 title. They would have made the deciscion to make these in 2017 after E3. Pure speculation of course, but it just reeks of that.I don't think you don't understand how long a game takes to make. It's not like these were jsut thought of a few months ago and quickly rushed together to have a game in the fall.
The few battle screens shown have pokemon having levels so I don't think they'll use the candys. How will evolutions work? Is it using the candy system from GO where you need to catch a ton of Pokemon?
So is this the Pokemon game we're waiting for? I don't know much about Pokemon but I'm interested in buying it if it's a jrpg. Does it play like one? Do I need to buy that ball thing or am I good with just the game? Do I need to use the phone as well? And why are there 2 games?
So many questions, yes. I really know nothing of Pokemon and if a kind person can answer I'd appreciate it.
Well, if this is the road thay want to follow with the franchise then good on them, this game will probably sell a lot, but losing the fans that followed the games for more than 20 years to chase the ones that only liked the first game doesnt sound smart.
