Why fight wild battles when you can just fight trainers?

Really, the only reason we ever fought all those Rattatas and Pidgeys were because you couldn't avoid them in the first place. No one looks for rare Pokemon to defeat them unless it's an Audino.
They are part of the difficulty when going though long routes.(Wild pokemon drain your PP and HP potions) Victory Road will just be a stroll through a cave without the wild battles.

If you don't like the random wild encounters, okay.

But I can't see how implementing a motion-based Pokemon catching minigame to replace it is better.

GS already confirmed there is online...

That's actually in line with what Game Informer's clarification was.
Local Wiress and Wi-Fi doesn't mean real online. Local Wireless isn't online at all, it requires you to be in the same room

I've been playing since Gen 1 and I've never found these fun wild battles everyone else is missing!

No more use for false swipe! Game breaking.

The Japanese site makes it clear that Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee are mainline Pokémon games:

『ポケットモンスター Let's Go! ピカチュウ』『ポケットモンスター Let's Go! イーブイ』は、Nintendo Switchソフトとして発売する『ポケットモンスター』シリーズ最新作。1998年にゲームボーイソフトとして発売した『ポケットモンスター ピカチュウ』をベースに、遊び方やシナリオを再構築した作品だ。Nintendo Switchと『Pokémon GO』の特徴をかけあわせることで、全く新しい体験ができる『ポケットモンスター』となっているぞ!

I was already really hyped myself at the thought of co-op and no random battles, seeing the Pokémon roaming about instead.

Now I know all of my friends are also fully onboard and they can't wait either!

Because fighting something to capture it is fun. The safari zone was always the worst part of the classic games and this entire game works like it.

Ehh, I never had fun looking through hundreds of Oddishes to find a Chansey.

It might be rewarding. But it's not fun. Unless you think rewards are fun, in which case, ok.

I knew they would find a way to disappoint us, amazing.
They took the worst Pokemon related thing in recent memory, and they ran a mile with it, god that's bad

Just woke up. I'm sure if that was the best or the worst thing ever, but I'm definitely there day 1.

So...this is an enhanced Switch version of Pokemon Go. I can see people being disappointed.

I'd be ok with these games if you could battle wild pokemon. Such a bizarre thing to omit completely. Regardless, Fosko was right, these are not the core games people were hoping for. At least they're on the not-so-distant horizon.

I didn't read anything from you but here are my thougths:

-I like the graphics, not the protagonists, but no problem.

-GF did a new graphics so it's a cool thing.

-It's a way to unify GO and Hardcore people for the 2019 title (we can't forget this, We know that a core game is coming in a year and a half).

-I f*cking love how the pokés look, seriously.

-So apparently all the pokés have new models, so I can understand if we really only have Kanto mons. I don't like it, being honest, but I understand.

-For me, that we don't have wild battles it's okey. The GO form for capture it's good for me.

-I don't like if the game don't have online (battles) but I understand it too.

-I love the local co-op mode.

Guys, GF is taking risks. We only say (I said it in the second speculation thread in fact) that they are very conservative. I'm good with Let's GO and super hyped for 2019. All are good news. This game is a transition Go-Let's Go-2019 core game.

Probably I will buy it because I have waited all my live to see my Pokés on the TV. Sorry.

Maybe we should wait for a bit to dwell on the online thing. We are getting mixed messages.

not sure hwo this guy is but if this is true, I will laugh really hard:

you cannot evolve an eevee. Let that sink in for a bit.

Makes sense since we knew that Pikachu will not evolve.

Both starters will likely have special attributes to give them a chance to be revelvant later in the game.

"Online? Yes!"

Unless the answer is wrong, it clearly implies online. They clearly fucked up proper communication. We still don't know either way for surr

Really excited for this, love how it looks and the concept. A bit bummed about no online play or random battles but otherwise it all sounds great. Reinstalled GO this morning and apparently I have a lot of Kanto Pokémon.

Also, did Fosko eat his crow yet? Although it seems he wouldn't have been into these games anyways.
Mainline games coming in 2019 as I predicted more than a year ago.

I hoped the whole lets go stuff would be fake, but as I said, the only way it is real is if it's an spin off.

I've had two years to amass three Gen's worth of high IV Pokemon and legendaries in Go.

Y'alls asses are grass when the game launches.

Some questionable decisions in this game.
It's like Gamefreak invented the one step forward two steps back phrase lol.

- No online at all. Wtf? In 2018 that's downright unacceptable. Especially for such a game.

- No random battles. Ok... I honestly wouldn't mind this if they were taking a different approach to wild battles and using overworld models to counter like in some JRPGS but the removal of wild Pokemon battling and making all the interactions purely about catching them? This sucks and basically only appeals to the Go players, sigh.

- Graphics. This point is brought up with every Gamefreak game in recent years, and I can't help but complain again. Game looks completely uncharming with plain artstyle, same washed Pokemon models from the 3DS games and technically unimpressive at all. Why won't anyone from any of the Nintendo dev teams teach them to use Nintendo's hardware more efficiently to achieve better results? And before anyone says something like "but why would they care if it sells 10m units anyway" - there's some truth in it but I'm still disappointed that they basically trap Pokemom games in technical mediocrity, they deserve better.

- What even is this? it's definitely built like a mainline Pokemon game, but it's as if it's made exclusively for nostalgia heavy Go players. Gen 1 only and back to kanto for yet another game. Gee, can't wait to see the same region I already played in like 6 times.

That's just from a few watches of the trailer, I might change my mind later on about few things but can't say I'm excited for now. Will wait to see what the 2019 game is all about.
It's a filler game they quickly put together so 2018 won't be only ports and Smash.

Aight, with online confirmed I'm officially on the hype train for this, espescially since we know gen 8 is next year. I'll be disappointed if the online is barebones like GameSpot says but I'll live. We back to the age of finding Friend Codes for doing online battles, hah.

Why are people so excited about trading online when, as far as I know, no version exclusives? And on top of that, these games are not even made for competitive play.

The graphics and style are impressive to me, at least, much more so than X/Y was for the 3DS as initial Pokémon games.

Looks like you don't fight wild Pokémon anymore. You catch them like in GO.

At least the turn-based combat is still there for trainer fights.

dang it!!! that's the only thing i miss from Pokemon go. but why they remove that? i love fighting and leaving the pokemon with low health and catching it.

im starting not to like this game :S maybe im gonna wait and see.

Oh of course competitive play is harder. I meant for newcomers to the single player experience. I'm imagining my non gamer sister playing and she could handle go catching and regular turn based battling. Catching is tricky.

Other barriers are outdated crap like HMs and overly linear design restricting progression. (Aka games since white)

Eh, I think your underestimating modern kids. My younger cousin, who is six, didn't really had a problem with Heartgold, and was able to beat it in a weak, the only exception being Whitney which he needed to overlevel.

I wonder if the Pokémon that are visible are catchable only like in Pokémon go and those in the tall grass/random encounters ambush you and it's like the normal Pokémon games.
'I wouldn't mind if they went that route with this Kanto remake
