So we all know Sony has been knocking it out of the park in recent years with giant hits like God of War, Horizon, Uncharted 4, and more to come. While I'm not too familiar with Microsoft's major output (I do realize their first party support has been underwhelming in reception comparatively) I think they have some amazing indie games that I adore.

The game that made me fell in love with Metroidvania genre. Ori and the Blind Forest is such a gorgeous games, and the story is surprisingly touching and well done, and I loved those chase sequences.

Fantastic boss rush with light platforming game with charming old school cartoon visuals. The difficulty was great, and really provides great carthatic feeling after beating each bosses. The bosses are very well designed and just overall this game is one of the sleeper hit last year IMO.

I've made a thread about why I loved Path of Exile so much earlier here: https://www.resetera.com/threads/rttp-path-of-exile-diablo-ii-meets-ffvii-meets-ffx.44585/

TLDR: One of my favorite ARPG of all time. Great gameplay, so much content for the genre.

If you call Ori an indie game you better do the same with Spider-Man or Detroit Become Human. They are 1st party games. No reason to belittle them.

I've played Quantum Break, Ryse, Forza Apex, Gears of War, State of Decay, a bit of Recore and the only one I enjoyed was Ori and the Blind Forest which actually went beyond my expectations. Such a Gorgeous game and really fun to play too. I've got my eyes on Cuphead and trying to find the time to play it.

Sunset Overdrive is still my favorite game of this console generation. Also, prior to Forza Horizon 3, I don't think I've spent so much time with a racing game. I spent a lot of time with the original Grid and with various installments in the Mario Kart series, but I could just get lost in Forza Horizon 3 forever. I have really high hopes for 4.

Forza Horizon 3 just really knocks it outta the park as far as racing games are concerned. So much stuff in this game, and so much of it is done really well.

It's my favorite racer since the original GRID

Forza Horizon 3 is an actual racing game I bought and played more than 2 hours of so it is working some voodoo magic.

Forza Horizon 3 is the best exclusive on the system and I don't even go for sim type racing games - it's really their God of War, Bloodborne, whatever... it just happens to be a racing game though.

Sunset Overdrive is by far the greatest exclusive in Xbone history.

Also one of the most overlooked.

Ryse, quantum break, SoT, were all ok. But really lacked somthing in each game. I preferred Ori and cuphead to those.

Sunset Overdrive - really hope it's actually coming to PC, and hopefully with all of the preorder DLC stuff that's literally impossible to find now.

Sunset Overdrive, FH2/3 and Ori have probably been their most exciting fresh offerings that stick out in my mind.

I really really like what they've did with Halo & Gears this gen, both with the new entries and stuff like TMCC and Gears 1 Ultimate.

And even with flaws and ymmv, Quantum Break & Recore were both good experiences if you can roll with the shortcomings.

SoT is by far the most interesting and I think easily has the potential to become the best.

They just need to start releasing those updates.

Forza Horizon 3.

If it wasn't also on PC it would be the only reason I would have kept my Xbox One.

Well the Win10 store has Frostpunk that has achievments so is sort of exclusive to pc and is top notch.
Other than that I would pick Ryse because its pretty much the only exclusive I completed other than Forza and Gears.

Should have been a Rate the Microsoft Xbox One/Windows Exclusives so Far type of thread like the other one instead, that would have been more interesting. Doesn't have to be just first party either like the other thread.

In any case, my fave is easily Forza Horizon 3. Second would be Ori and the Blind Forest.

If the PC version of Sunset Overdrive is real AND the Xbox One X patch is coming, I will give it a vote.
Or else:
1. Forza Horizon 3
2. Ori and Blind Forest

Lot's of these games are on STEAM and other services. If you narrow it down to actual Windows/Xbox exclusives the list gets a lot shorter. Just saying.

Ori, Cuphead and Forza Horizon 3 (a true Microsoft exclusive!) are all pretty fantastic. I hope Microsoft release more games on PC so I can try them out (Sunset Overdrive is a lock for me!)

I've played some amazing PC-games the past few years, but I have no idea if they are also on Xbox or PS4 (or Linux and Mac for that matter). I didn't even know PoE was also on Xbox for example, so I'm not sure which games I should list here. My favorite PC game is Total War Warhammer 2 but I don't think it's on Xbox.

Anyway: Ori, Cuphead and PoE are really great games, and I've also enjoyed Quantum break on PC. I've borrowed a friends X1 to play Forza Horizon 3 and Sunset Overdrive, also both great games. I don't like Gears and I've only played a part of Halo 5 campaign but didn't like it at all.

Tbh Forza Horizon 3 is the only really good big game imo. It looks a bit better with smaller games, both Cuphead and Ori are titles PS4 owners can be jealous not to have.

Ori, Cuphead and Sunset for me.

All fun games with good mechanics and (the first two in particular) gorgeous to boot.

Is there a difference between the windows store and steam versions of cuphead? This thread has pushed me over the edge.

'Ori' and 'Sunset Overdrive' for my money.

I've not played 'Cuphead' yet, I enjoyed 'Recore' more than most though. That said, I've only played the "Definitive" version hadn't played it pre-patch. As a series fan, I've got to mention 'Dead Rising 3' as well. Probably my most played X1 exclusive.

Quantum Break
Gears4
Forza Horizon 3

The rest are either indie titles with low system requirements or just meh.

Killer Instinct - Secretly the best fighting game of Gen 8. Not that most would admit it or even want to

Forza Horizon 3 - the best arcade/open world racer of Gen 8

Sunset Overdrive - Jet Set Radio meets Ratchet and Clank made by Insomniac and the game Spider-man's traversal is built off. Not sure more needs to be said

Ryse - The "God of War clone" that actually wasn't a God of War clone, that God of War 2018 wound up being the sequel to that I always wanted. Still visually stunning to this day and a combo/rhythm based combat system that's better than its given credit for. Also has a surprisingly good story

Titanfall - The best multiplayer shooter of all time

Forza Horizon 3 and Sunset Overdrive.

The first being one of the greatest racing games ever made and the latter one of the most fun with amazing humour.

There are plenty of indie games that exceed and excel what AAA has to offer, so hold on to your panties - its not a derogatory slur against a game if you call it one. Some peeps...sheesh.

Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars 2, Ori and Cuphead are my picks here. I probably played HW2 the most, but that's mostly because I am a RTS guy

They call those Exclusives? haha

It's basically come down to can it be played on the PS4 or not. That's what seems to be the barrier nowadays where we have companies like Sony who seem to be ok with crossplay as long as it's not on Xbox. Cuphead is also on Steam so I'm not sure why that is part of Windows exclusive in the title. Might as well add PUBG then.

When you take a step back Microsoft has a lot of work ahead of them. Very few of their games have received top marks. Forza Horizon and Ori are really the only high standards here that are Windows/Xbox exclusive.

Being someone who's worked for Microsoft, they have never had an indulgency for Exclusives
