Anyone got a key they aren't using? I've got a friend that I'd like to treat and he's obsessed with MtG.
been playing a whole bunch more physical magic recently so this would be crazy cool. If anyone has a spare code please send my way!

Update comes with real, best of 3 standard matches, Kaladesh, and a bunch of goodies. Namely one of every rare and a full playset of the 15 top cards in the kaladesh block. Very generous, Wizards.

this is really scratching a nice spot for me
love the concept of wildcards, and the f2p stuff actually feels pretty good in terms of rewards
i also love that we don't dust things in the game, which leads to having a nice collection instead of cards that feel like cheap currency

The state of the beta has more info the updates. They're extending rewards out to 15 games instead of only 4.

Awesome. After completing dailies there currently really isn't a reason to keep playing, I hope it's gonna be like Hearthstone eventually where you get a small amount of gold every three wins without a cap.
And wow those Khalades freebies are amazing. Surely because it's rotating out soon and they want people to actually get a chance to play and use the cards, but still a fantastic move by WOTC.
I NEED THIS SO BADLY- I stopped streaming to finish working on my game and now that the demo is wrapping up I'm desperately seeking something I love to stream. I've been a semi-pro (meaning beaten out many times right before the pro level haha) Magic player and I would really love a beta code- I can do something nice for you in exchange like make you an NPC? :O
Man people are so slow in this. You would think most people in a closed beta have played mtg before.
You should be able to enter all the events except for Draft I think(?) with Gold (it'll show as an alternative entry fee next to gems), which you can get from playing without paying any money. You can play "Ladder Constructed" by hitting Play, then picking it from the menu, for no entry fee.
You'll be fine.
They're also releasing a ton more beta codes on the 20th, so odds are he will get one then.
I wish that they would switch to open beta next Friday but it looks like they won't.
I've lost the urge to play too much knowing my collection will be wiped.
I pretty much just play limited, so I'm looking forward to a wipe and getting all my gems back. Is the next wipe going to be the final wipe?
That's what they've said. I'm expecting the final wipe to occur in the fall with the next expansion.

It makes no sense to me why they are doing a stress test on Friday when most people are at work.
If they wanted a true "stress test" it would make much more sense to do it on Saturday or Sunday instead.

I beat the tutorial, can't wait to delve deeper in the game. Just want to do drafts, I'm assuming I can grind ingame currency for it like Hearthstone, right?

Yes you can get gold by playing the game, gems being the currency you get for real money.
You can enter drafts with gold or gems, but to earn gold you need to play matches, so it seems difficult to do drafts only while not paying real money.
My advice is to still have about 3 decks to go into free play, with all 5 colors represented, play a bunch of games when you connect, using the decks that will make you get the daily rewards.
Those are usually as simple as "Cast 20 Red or Black spells" and are quite rewarding.
In about 4 matches you'll easily have about 1000 Gold.
You have preconstructed decks to use, some are ok to begin with and easily upgradable, from what I remember the explore, Izzet and cats decks are among the best.
I would love to play, but the looming reset kills any motivation for me.
When would that theoretically be? Just so I know when to check back.
I haven't played this in like a week. I don't want to start again until the wipe or I will be sucked back in.
The set comes out in paper October 5th, which means it will likely hit Arena Ocotober 4th.
Got a question too - If I have an instant on hand, it's clearly visible to my enemy, because I have to advance every step of the round he is making manually- if I switch on "end round" all of my chances to intervene are gone and he doesn't know that I have an instant on hand. So - if I switch on "end round" does the game stop for me to declare blockers if my adversary tries to attack?
Based on my experience: yes. If you toggle 'end turn' on, it will still prompt you for attackers/blockers if you have any valid choices.
Game is fun, but while things like Day9 video really hype me to play more of it, a complete wipe and no friend list to just have fun with friends, both make me go for other games atm. And I fear that by the time those two thing are resolved, most/all of my friends who could have been interested will have migrated to Artifact.
