Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic. A perfect blend of the original and its sequel. Chris Sawyer contributed to its development too.

Also on Android for those interested.

Gorogoa, monument valley(s), device 6, sword and sworcery. I know these are available on iPhone, so I'd assume they're available on iPad as well.

If you're looking for portable options for games also available elsewhere, Knights of the old republic, final fantasy tactics, and the witness are all solid.

It's a bit old now, but Year Walk was probably one of the best iOS experiences I've ever had. Really enjoyed that one.

I cannot recommend the Sonic the Hedgehog remakes highly enough, especially if you invest in a decent Bluetooth controller. They are the definitive versions of the games IMO

Fire Emblem Heroes it has surprising depth, is easily the most giving gatcha game I've ever played to the point where you really don't need to spend money as long as you aren't obsessed with having every character, and is frequently being updated with new game modes and tons of other content.

The Quest HD and 1or 2 of the expansions they have also made HD. It's an old school first person RPG with a giant overworld, towns, quests, dungeons, leveling, loot, alchemy etc. Can't recommend highly enough if you are into old school RPGs.

Also, Project Highrise recently came out and is Ipad only abs a lot like Sim Tower. It's addictive and fun as hell

If you want more recommendations just ask and I'll get my Ipad out. I've got hundreds of games on it and there are a lot of greats in there :)

Chrono trigger - not perfect, but playable. Planescape: Torment, Darkest Dungeon, Legend of Grimrock.

I don't want to piggyback the thread, but I'd love to hear your recomendations. RPGs specifically would pique my interest, other stuff too, though. I've had my ipad pro for 8 months and it's my go-to portable gaming deivce, but it's hard to find worthy games on Appstore.

The Dragon Quest games are perfectly playable and actually suit mobile quite well. Dragon Quest 4 has Party Chat, which was omitted from the NA DS version.

Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic, Plants Vs Zombies HD, Bejweled Classic HD. If you like trading card games there's versions of Yu Gi Oh, Magic, and Pokemon. I think card games are fun to play on iPad. FTL, Xcom, and the Hitman Go/ Lara Croft Go etc games.

I'd need to know more about your game tastes to make a recommendation.

I don't typically like mobile gaming so the ones I do enjoy really stand out.

My personal favorites, and the games that are the least annoying to control are —

Oddmar (beautiful pay once 2D platformer with no microtransactions or nonsense)

Altos Odyssey (if you like chill, zen-like games. Easily one of the best touch games ever made)

Severed (Originally a VITA game made for touch controls by a very talented studio)

Those three games don't have the mobile "stink" on them and are excellent games regardless of platform. The bigger AAA ports of games (GTA, KOTOR, Jade Empire) run well on iOS too, it's just a matter of how tolerant you are of the adapted controls.

Year Walk.

Man, Year Walk. What a game. What. a. game. Made me buy an iPad, and I was glad for it.

Honourable mention for Device 6 by the same team (Simogo). Great puzzle game with gorgeous styling.

Plus, 80 Days if that's on iPad.

On the second semester I'll be travelling for 6 months without consoles/pc. I've been trying to "stock" on ipad and android games for late hotel nights.
So far, I've got Ace Attorney Investigations and Ms Layton for Android and Darkest Dungeon + Motorsport Manager 2 for ipad.
I guess I'm well served on "pick and play" type of games, but I'm missing on morestory-driven ones.

That seems like a great sugestion. I have finished Kotor 2 but never actually played the first one.

How does the iPad version of Planescape compare to the original? I've never played it but have always wanted to.

Might as well ask this here, has anyone got any experience with MFi controllers? Are they worth getting?

Have a new iPad purchase planned for the next 6 months. It'll be the newest 9.7" model (I tried to persuade my wife to get a Pro but sadly that isn't happening), so I'll be coming backbtobthis thread for sure.

Whenever they ask for movile gaming, i always tend to recomend Rayark's games.

-Deemo, Voez and both Cytus are excellent musical games (grinding aside)
-Implosion: Never Lose Hope is the best Diablo experience on portable.

Hope you at leats give them a look.

You may want to hold off a couple of weeks. WWDC is June 4 and there may be some new/refresh ipad announcements.
