Eurogamer: Leaks suggest Retro Studios making Star Fox racing spin-off (also heard by EG's sources)

The only thing I could see working for Metroid x F-Zero is maybe the captain can be a reoccurring bountry hunter.
Maybe a side quest or something.

Star Fox x F Zero could have Falcon as an actual Falcon Racing in most races like Human James McCloud.

Nah, they said they just heard of a retro studios projects struggling. Even GI didn't know if it was star fox

Cutscene in between race rounds in the pits.

Peppy: Fox get your head outta your ass and into the race!!

Fox: I can't. .

Peppy: why not? We getting killed out their!

Fox: Because Krystal lost the baby!!!!

It could affect the music and dialogue in he following race, where everything reflects that revelation. It could have a somber acoustic guitar cover of the Corneria theme during the race

Peppy: ... uh ... Fox?

Fox: What!?

Peppy: You should ... do a barrel roll.

Fox: ... what's it even matter any more?


Then have scenes of Krystal and Fox along the beach or having a picnic together flash across the screen as you try to race, bridging the character's trauma with that's of the player's

TIL Slippy is actually a frog despite the surname Toad. I was getting all ready to post a snarky correction but then I figured I'd look it up and he's actually a frog.

That's like naming a regular human James Neanderthal.

In the end Star Fox has a bigger fanbase than F-Zero and if Retro wants to follow Diddy Kong Racing then Star Fox works better.

The same sources that told me about Star Fox - Metroid back in 2012, told me about Grand Prix, this past April. We'll see what comes of this title. Here's hoping for the best.

Didn't a lot of people leave Retro over the past couple years? That would explain it.

Yep, apparently since February.

In my mind, one plausible explanation as to why this suddenly started leasing is that marketing and the like has started seeing the game.

But in general it looks like you're right, Paul Gale Network seems to be the one source for that specific rumor, though it did spread to many outlets (citing that source).

The Official Nintendo Magazine back in late 2011/early 2012 had some clue that Retro Studios might be working on a Star Fox game. Digital Trends too, heard of the game in some manner, seemingly around the same time as I did.

Regarding Grand Prix, once again, different outlets seem to have gotten the information about the same time. Good thing that E3 is just over 2 weeks away.
