Feeling pretty great. All in all, most of the country is doing well. I had dinner with my family in Forest Park, right off the lake. We had drinks and rode the paddle boats. Then we took a drive through a park where Elk and Bison roam around freely and come up to your car. This weekend we have some 20+ people coming over. I'm going to smoke some ribs and whole chickens, and then we're going for a dip in the pool. Have seen many minorities and police out and about around the park today. Everyone smiled and waved at each other. So thanks for checking in. There are 325mm of us here, and most of us have plenty opportunity to live happy lives without much issue.

I hope this is sarcasm.

America is turning into a shithole day after day. It doesn't help that this country's president happens to be a racist, sexist, fascist douchebag.

Not at all. Sure, there are problems here. But to describe this vast, wonderful country as a shithole is hyperbole to a ridiculous extent. I'm liberal as fuck. Most of my friends joining us for Bbq this weekend are gay, or black, or Muslim. We live in Missouri. You know, shit hole flyover country. And yet, we are all doing quite well. We all hate Trump. We're all politically active. Yet we enjoy our short lives as much as we can. We all have big yards, good jobs and have a lot of fun together. I refuse to allow this narrative that things are all fucking doom and gloom here to take hold. It's fucking not.

Why would it be? Most citizens, minorities included go about their daily lives without an issue. Doesn't mean we don't have problems (and god do we have problems) but calling the country a "shithole" is a gross exaggeration. It's not like I walk out the door and have to fight my way Fallout style to the Supermarket.

Hey America, how do you you feel? No really, how are you guys and girls?

Over here in continental europe, we are great. Been to the gun range this week, been shooting an AK 47. Not mine, not gonna brag. We have it in the community. Love the big rounds that might be just a bit too high caliber for me, a western 5,56 like the M16 would be just right if I was honest.

You know what we did not have this week? Or this year? School shootings. Feeling great. Swating. None, awesome right there for an ENTIRE CONTINENT. Here - SPECIFICALLY - in eastern europe you go for lunch in your favorite pizza place and two police officers also frequent the place. Do you know what they bring and drop on their table? Their AK 47, police weapon of choice. Not kidding. Guess what they never fired in an actual situation their whole live. That's right, won't spoil the thing for you.

So you guys make feel people like criminals and shit when they try to move to your country but you plan moving to another country like is nothing? please stay there.
Joke's on you I'm not American, I just happen to live here.

Also, stop the stupid generalizing. I've lived here in the US for 16 years and not every American is a xenophobic douche like you're trying to portray. There are plenty of people here that are accepting of foreigners otherwise I wouldn't be here in the first place. Don't think idiots like Trump represent the whole country when more than half of the country didn't vote for him.

Hope these assholes get thrown under the prison.

Cops need some attention too. How do you kill someone just minding their business regardless of what was or was not called in.

We have racism and nationalistic issues, absolutely. I do not wish to wake up with a different color or with a syrian passport. But you know what is good here? Not being shot to death over that here.

As a Black American, your continent sounds like shit, too. FOH.

Man, some folks act like this country is on fire. 99 percent of us will never have an issue in our lives. Every place on Earth has issues.

I went to Iraq in '05 and seen first hand what people are capable of. Men being thrown off buildings because they are gay, men and women being boiled alive, beheaded, with women have their breasts cut off and killed with their babies being left to die from hunger, just because they choose to have another religion.

Lordy people, grow up.

Talk about hyperbole.

Out of the 325 million people in the US you believe that murders, assaults, etc are more the 3 million cases?

Hyperbole, indeed. Like I said, people think the country is burning.

Things could always be better, but we aren't at the end of the world here. While we have all the freedoms we can handle, we should worry about those the are being persecuted in other countries just because they are different.

Well it's not just about murder and assaults that are an issue. If you're talking that specifically, I guess.

You are absolutely right. We have plenty of issues, but we also have a country full of weak, complaining people, that do not know what real issues are. They cry because some one flicked them off.

Instead of thinking we are headed to the end of our country, because some guy we don't like is president, then blaming him for everything wrong in this country, we need to look at ourselves in the mirror and figure what is wrong. This country is full of victims, that blame every one else for their problems, instead of themselves.

We need to look into the home.

Absolutely, people seem to have no concept of how good they have it. Not to say we shouldn't strive to be better, but it seems many hold no perspective at all.

Some people in this country are real victims of a system of oppression and of other people's bigotry. Your earlier post mentions killing people due to their sexual orientation, that happens in America. You mention violence against women, that happens in America. You mentioned children being taken away from their mothers, that is happening in America right now when the federal government under this administration's directives took 1,500 children from people seeking aslyum and then lost those very children they stole from their mothers. Awareness and acknowledgement of our problems and failings are how we grow as a society.

Yeah. I'm german and there are racist fucks everywhere. It really is saddening and tbh makes me angry. People over here are destroying years and years of liberal progression we made since... the holocaust. Germany is an awesome country, I love it. I love being german and think it is one of the best places to live on earth. The rise of the alt-right and stupidity over the last years seriously hurts.

On Topic: Fuck these assholes. Prison asap. Scumbags.

I'm so glad the other gamers involved is also being charged, this wasn't just the act of the Swatter, but the person who got him to do it and the person who dared that guy to do it, giving an old address.

Cops need some attention too. How do you kill someone just minding their business regardless of what was or was not called in.
The cop saw what he thought was a murderer who had threatened to kill more hostages ignore police instructions by reaching to his waist, then lift his hand back up quickly. It was a mistake in a stressful situation.

The trigger-happy officer should be charged too, but we know that will turn out. Bleh.

While we have all the freedoms we can handle, we should worry about those the are being persecuted in other countries just because they are different.
But people in the U.S. are being persecuted because they are different. I mean if you think racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. are over and are society treats everyone equal after all the shit that happened in the past several years, including this one, I ask "where the hell have you been?!"

I still can't believe that a phone call is all you need to have a bunch of cops get into somebody's else house gun blazing without even checking if the guy inside is actually doing something wrong.

I am glad that the two other idiots involved, will most likely do jail time. I am hoping for stiff sentences.

But honestly, the biggest problem here, is that a random yahoo in a completely different state can legit call the cops on a complete stranger. A person that has done nothing, and is currently in a situation where nothing is happening. And yet the fucking cops roll up and shoot the guy as he opens his door. There wasn't any attempt to determine if there was an actual threat at all. If calling the cops on anyone, for no reason, can lead to lethal force being used...it's a failure of law inforcement.

The triggerman in this case should be on trial too. And he should go away for a long time. A long, long time.

I don't understand why anybody would want to abuse the police force like this. Have people forgotten why those exist? I really hope the suspects receive a punishment that let's them understand what the police does for society and why it exists. A long prison sentence does not seem that fitting; apart of the satisfaction of the victim's family. In the end this is about exerting force onto people that taunted you over the internet. Real life violence as a response to the taunting (by proxy). I really wonder how many people who do this actually want a SWAT team to actually kill - not scare - their targets. I'd firstly would want to go for this wake up call approach when it comes to punishment.

Secondly, as a guy from northwestern Europe (Holland) it really feels as if US SWAT are of the 'shoot first, ask questions later' variety. One would assume that the unsuspecting victims of swatting would show their non-aggression towards the police right away when they are confronted. I'm pretty sure the number of deaths by swatting will go down when the police can assume citizens do not have firearms in their homes. Heck, when they can assume most criminals won't use firearms either!

Thirdly I also wonder to what extent the prevalence of swatting in the US is related to the apparent American drive for competition? I play a lot of Squad, which is a military shooter, and it always strikes me that American squad leaders find it much more important to win. And can become kind of rude immediately when anything threatens their possibility of winning. Whether that's due to obvious inexperience, miscommunication, or actual fuck ups. Also taunting losers at the end of games, etc. Of course this is just anecdotal, but I do think this also helps to explain why swatting exists in the US and why these cases end up with dead victims oftenly.

Lastly, as a criminologist, I really would love to come up with checks to help police recognize potential swatting calls before they respond. Would be an interesting way to combine hobby and work!

Why is anyone at all upset at the stealth gloating post? That's just thin skin, I'm sorry.

He or she should be gloating. Get your shit together.

What's worse, his gloating or America's inability to do anything worthwhile to save kids lives?

I know which one I'd pick. American politicians and American gun culture should be ridiculed until they address the situation with real results.

Anyone offended by the post in questions should be hundreds or even millions of times more offended by the death of children and teachers in American schools and they should learn where to prioritize problems.

That post isn't a problem. I don't give a shit about hurt feelings over gun culture or stupid people in America. I give a shit about innocent people getting hurt because of it.

I honestly don't know what you're trying to insinuate in this comment. This situation doesn't have anything to do with gun control really.. You say your police officers carry ak 47s? That's a big step up from the pistols our police carry around here.

He wasn't talking about gun control here.

Why are American cops, even the "elite" ones so "Shoot first, use brain never"

I certainly would call them the primary culprits, but let's not forget that the police don't have to barge in and shoot on sight.
