Damn... Really sad news. I never was the biggest fan but I did watch his WTF is videos occasionally. He was a great critic.
Rest in peace John.

yeah i think 33 is really what makes this so tragic. he was diagnosed 4-5 years ago and he was still in his twenties.. that makes it such a horror story. it probably happens to more people than we think but certainly not to a semi-celebrity like TB.33 is way, way too fucking young. Best wishes to his friends and family.
This is a good point. One of his most enduring contributions is shifting the perception of these things as arcane, backend nitpicks that only the nerdiest of nerds complain about, to becoming near baseline (we still have a ways to go) QoL expectations. It wasn't that long ago when people openly mocked these kinds of criticism but I see much less of it now.
There is no reason consumers should have to put up with headaches from FoV or framerate related issues which could be easily remedied with options that are arbitrarily hidden. Or that binding keys to your preference should be hampered (especially if you have some type of disability), etc.
Yea I just saw this on twitter..wtf.Left my best wishes to TB's family before I went to bed last night but I can't believe there are people that came into that thread to proselytise about how bad TB was when a family has lost it's father. Some people think they're so virtuous and yet completely lack a shred of empathy.
Disgusting really.
I hope every game in heaven has FOV sliders, widescreen support, custom frame rate caps and fully rebindable controls.
Rest in peace.
One of the best postsAt least we can all rest easy that every damn game in heaven will have an FOV slider now
