Hawk needs a Redbox but for TVsI have not had time to put all my thoughts on it, but now that you ask, yes, I did take back the 900f 75".
There was nothing wrong with the set, I was amazed on how good the panel was free of issues, but as Smokey called out several posts back, the PQ going from a LGE7 & ZD9 is something I might not like. That is not to suggest the 900f had poor PQ, but when you compare them to the ZD9 or E7 LG it was not up to par. I was thinking and hoping, especially when I tested for banding, DSE and other uniformity issues and found no problems that the size would trump any loss of PQ from those 2 other sets, but the more I used it the more I realized that I wanted the better PQ. For me the use of a new TV would be 90% gaming in a dedicated room. I don't game a lot, but when I do I want great PQ and good screen size. The 900f was close to getting to my goal but not good enough.
Again, anyone looking at a 900f, please don't take this as it is a shit panel. It is fantastic and I really liked it, but once you have used a 65" OLED or a 65" ZD9, you will notice the quality difference and how the PQ excels on those other sets. The 900f is an outstanding value at the 75" size and it does produce a very nice image for gaming and movies. Depending on your budget and if you need a large screen be it 65, 75 or 85" the 900f is a good pic. Being able to get a very good 75" screen for $3499.99 is a great deal.
So now, I am back to using a 65" and put in an order for a QLED 65" Q9 series. I should be able to pick it up guaranteed on Sunday from my local Best Buy, but I was told there is a good chance I can pick it up Saturday evening. I plan to put it through it's paces and see what it brings for gaming primary, but also will test some UHD movies. I also have a high end PC and I am curious to see the sets ability to do 1440p at 120fps. Should be interesting to check that out as well as the new update with Freesync.
